    There is a HUGE difference between the Blue Sky "what if..." ideas that Disney always shows us and the "actual", financially "green lit" real projects. For quite a while now, we have been told of MANY "what if..." ideas that never had actual financial approval. What I would like for Disney to do this year is tell us everything they want to BUT tell us which ones are Blue Sky "ideas" that don't have money yet....and then tell us "actual" projects that ARE finance-approved with a legitimate budget allocated. Please SEPARATE "real" from "hopeful" announcements. Also, we know Disney loves to spread construction costs across SEVERAL extra years of financial books to help the quarterly earnings numbers. Please tell us the planned construction deadlines. As in, 5 years, 10 years or 15 years....etc. This will help us all manage expectations and help us to NOT get upset when we see them all moving so slowly. Disney, just be upfront and "real" with us this time. Doing this will save EVERYBODY aggravation. The WORST possible thing that could happen is to hype everybody up into the stratosphere and then deflate everybody in a few years when the gas runs out. That's how you lose trust and credibility.

    My biggest concern is that the vast majority of announcements have already leaked and are common knowledge within the community sans fine details, and because of this, Disney feels the need to interject or overlay their Experience presentation with filler to compensate for the lack of new announcements.
    I hope I'm wrong.

      I hope you’re wrong too. I also hope that if they are going to shock us, it’s for the better. And no, an “Inside Out” attraction replacing Figment isn’t a good shock.

    great observation Drew but as soon as I saw Mickey Mouse as a music conductor and the title of the show horizons I knew we were in trouble the show is timed at 1.5 hours so keep your fingers crossed its not 45 minutes of music and muppets and 45 mins of alleged announcements coming to the parks

    I expect they will talk an hour about imagination, wishes, joy, dreams,... then will highlight the wonderful 'new' things (or retheming old rides) they have been working on for ages, some small stuff like snacks or shows, and then some major planned rides that will be ready in 2030.

    To me it seems like it’s either show first and then afterwards there will be a presentation. Or it will be the show with the smaller announcements sprinkled in and then at the end there will be big announcements. Honestly I am a lot more optimistic about this D23 than I have been in the past. They made pretty solid announcements this past year or so. It makes me feel like they have at least one big thing for their presentation this year.

    I’m hoping they announce some new entertainment for the California parks. I feel like entertainment is lacking. The Hyperion theater is sitting empty and Tales from the Lion King ended. We are good on nighttime entertainment but we need something for daytime besides Magic Happens which is a great parade, but DCA needs something as it only has World Of Color once Pixarfest is over.

  • @Aramar5

    Since most of the rumoured new attractions/shows are based on musical movies, it makes sense to have some musical numbers between the announcements with songs from those movies:
    Little Mermaid for Hollywood Studios
    Encanto for Animal Kingdom
    Coco for beyond Big Thunder
    Moana for Adventureland
    Frozen and Lion King for Paris
    Zootopia (3d show for AK) and Wreck it Ralph (Tokyo) also have a popular main song for a perfomance
    And then maybe they can reveal the anniversary songs for California and Hong Kong.

    I think you are correct that Disney is making this more of a show and broad-audience marketing event rather than Disney or parks nerds (I'm one of those) insider event.
    I definately don't think this event was moved to a 12,000 seat venue because they are scaling up the amount or level of theme park expansion news. Rather, I think it was moved to this venue because of the guest musical stars and what is appropriate to their stature as performers. For example, others have suggested a re-theme of Rock 'n' Rollercoaster to a major performer like Taylor Swift could mean she makes an appearance. That kind of moment would drive the change of venue.

    I actually like your perspective. This is the first time that I plan to stream it (if they do) and I have to admit that my wish list is much more unrealistic than what they have the budget for.
    Now if I could snap my fingers and make things happen, my top items would be
    1) Bringing back the Country Bears to the Disneyland resort (they could fit across the Soarin attraction)
    2) Inside Out and Baymax attractions inside the former Wonders of Life Pavilion. Seriously, Epcot needs an overhaul from the overhaul🙄
    3) An updated version of the ORIGINAL Journey into Imagination with Dreamfinder reuniting with Figment.
    But who am I kidding? With my misfortune, they’ll just announce a new name for Critter Country.

    As long as Frontierland and the Rivers of America stay intact and I can ride the Liberty Belle, then I will be ok. I'm hoping that beyond big thunder will allow Disney to build along the rivers of America similar to what they have in Disneyland and make the trip around the river or even the railroad even more scenic. It would be awesome to be on the Liberty Belle and get a full tour around the river with new lands and environments along the river with awesome landscapes

    • @jennifermariecarson
      @jennifermariecarson 2 месяца назад +2

      But Disneyland did reconstruct their rivers of America, so I don’t think WDW rivers will stay intact, but I do hope it’s modified to a point we can still ride the Liberty Belle. I’m hoping it will just be a smaller loop.

      These are beloved movies that still hold up. What a weird argument to make

    • @JP-1990
      @JP-1990 2 месяца назад

      @@AppleGaming4Real I would contest that despite being good movies, they aren't "cherished" or "beloved" so much as they are really popular., for which there is a difference. Also, they are way too recent to be considered "classics".
      My point is that Disney seems to be leaning way too heavily on "current thing" and "nostalgia", but not doing enough to bridge the gap by showing that older or more obscure works are still relevant.
      For example, if they made a new Encanto ride, many people would be happy but not at all surprised. If they made a new attraction based off of the Jungle Book, people would be pleasantly surprised. However, if they made an attraction based off of Atlantis, people would be absolutely shocked and likely tear up a bit.

    • @AppleGaming4Real
      @AppleGaming4Real 2 месяца назад

      @@JP-1990 The thing is, financially an Atlantis ride makes no sense while Encanto makes a lot of sense. Encanto offerings are super popular and well liked, the songwriter for Encanto joked that he won’t write for Encanto 2 unless Encanto gets a ride and it’s an easy sell for merch. Atlantis is an older IP and while great, has absolutely not withstood the test of time with the general public and is more of a cult classic. How do you propose that Disney uses their IP? Wait until the peak is already far past to see and use IP that most most kids don’t know? It’s a pointless gamble when they have plenty of more recent IP that has done amazingly in merch, characters, shows etc for YEARS still.

    • @JP-1990
      @JP-1990 2 месяца назад

      @@AppleGaming4Real I believe the best approach is to prioritize evergreen stories, ideas, and theming to reduce the need for future construction. The Hollywood Tower of Terror was evergreen. The Guardians of the Galaxy remodel is not.

    • @stanfordite1
      @stanfordite1 2 месяца назад

      Those movies don't belong and we need less IPs or even no more IP in the parks. Guardians is going bye bye to avoid the royalties after Disney is trust busted and Marvel is taken away. No one will miss Marvel in the parks. When I take over and usher in the Make Disney Great Again era I will be eliminating most IP in the parks and making all decisions by asking "What would Walt do?" like management did after his passing for decades.

    I will be at D23. The ticket was not $500, it was half of that. Yes, some people spent that much but you didn't have to. However, I am most looking forward to the musical performances. If it was going to be just an announcements presentation I would rather stream it later and enjoy the show floor and other offerings. D23 is about bringing fans together and having lots of panels to peek behind the scenes. The park announcements are part of it but for attendees it's only one evening out of a 3-day packed schedule/experience.

    I, sir, hope you are wrong as well. Having never been to one of these presentations, I wouldn't know what to expect. I know they will have lots of unhappy fans if they don't start coming out with some more concrete answers as to when things are going to be placed in motion. With Epic Universe just around the corner, I know Disney has some catching up to do if you will, but besides opening a new park, they can only work with what they have. I hope they give fans a shocking moment or two. If I was a paying guest to the expo, and I got the same Blue Sky news again, I think I would have to consider complaining. If they are good, hopefully, the musical presentations will be performances about the new, solidified things to come. Only time will tell very soon. I wish we could be going to Disneyland that weekend for the very first time, for my birthday.

The Bayou Adventure is literally the only thing Imagineering has done recently, and the only thing they ever show the public, to the point that most people are so over the ride before it's even opened on the west coast.
