  • We all know emails are broken right? It’s one of those things nobody likes but we all know we have to do. And it’s not going away anytime soon. Email apps are pretty much all the same, it’s basically a list of all the emails you got and you reply to them right? Classic stuff.
I personally hate emails and get hundreds of them per day, so I’m down to try anything that I can to make my life easier. I’ve used Hey! for about a year and then switched to Superhuman which I’ve used for a bit over 3 months now. So here’s my honest review on both of them.

Very similar experience. Was on Hey for a couple of years, then superhuman for just under a year, and now back to Hey.
Hey is actually quick in its own way, because you only focus on what you need, and if you use your shortcuts, it is literally faster.
The one big reason to come back to Hey though was collaboration. Superhuman has teams now, but Hey was built that way from the ground up, and is much better in this department.

As someone who has used Hey for a couple years, I find email as enjoyable as it can be. I just got back from a conference, and kill filed (screened out) all the marketers. There is zero noise in my email, either the Imbox or Feed.
One feature Hey provides that Superhuman cannot is privacy. Hey blocks attempts to track. They don't dig into your email. For Superhuman's LLM to know how to write in your style, it has to train on not only your email, but everyone else's. So not only are you paying for email, you are giving your intellectual property to Superhuman to train their LLM, which they can later use for any purpose.

What about security for these? I’ve switched to Protonmail for the security.

Serious privacy concerns with Spark. I have to give them my IMAP account info. Nope.

@@JujoOfficial I am using Spark for very long time, in the newest version (3.15) is the best email client ever. Combined so much functions from Hey and Superhuman, for much less yearly subscription then these both. The data protection is not worst then in other similar services. Just feel free and try.

@@brianh2787 I mean, if you're adding an email created using a custom domain, you need to provide IMAP details to every email client possible to be able to send and receive emails from these custom addresses. Apart from that, what's the privacy concern you have? I have heard a lot of people say the same thing about Spark.
