    It looks pretty good and sounds like something I'd actually like to use but $99+Tax is very steep for a new service considering my current email services are free/included with my web domain

    Great video. I just came across Hey as I was going to review Rework (book written by Hey and Basecamp founders) for my business book club. As a speaker on time management, I was intriqued by their email concept and was looking for reviews on it and your video was just what I needed. Subscribed to your channel!

    Because it is not just a UI on top of some other email service, am I right in concluding that I would have to give up my current email addresses?

    • @6MonthsLater
      @6MonthsLater  4 года назад +3

      You wouldn't have to give up your current email address necessarily, you could just forward all emails from your current address to your new address through hey. That's what we're doing with our Gmail address.

    Seems like they have solved a problem that didn’t really exist, is it really that hard to manage an inbox? As long as you don’t sign up to hundreds of sites - I use a totally separate email address for usernames that I use for business correspondence - and unsubscribe to things if they are not adding value then it’s not a problem for me. I treat my work inbox as a simple task list, either create a task to work on the email, archive it for future reference if needed or simply read and delete. People are so used to getting email for free, I can’t see the market for this product.

      I’ve been complaining about the email evolution in the construction industry for decades. I spent far less time communicating before email entered the daily construction 🦺 way of doing business.

    • @drslv6389
      @drslv6389 2 года назад

      It all depends on how many e-mails you get from what kinds of sources. I have multiple domains of activity in my work, several reporting structures, a number of task teams, personal vs. work... something that helps with complexity would be great.

  • @madameclark3453

    I started my career in the construction industry before email became our main form of communicating. I spent a whole lot less time communicating the same crap in Constructuon before email than today with email. The younger generation just likes to spend time behind the desk babbling instead of building. If the emails were just limited to sending drawings, the construction industry would be streamlined

    The problem is. "Hey" is only e-mail. Not contacts, not calendar, not notes. So you still need to use other services. Which makes the whole point of saving time useless. I'm waiting for a service with seamless mail/calendar/notes WITHOUT a million tabs, loading, etc...

    • @HellcatM

      I'm using an app called BlueMail which has email, calendar, contacts and later board which I think is kind of like to-do (haven't checked that feature out yet). They have a PC and Android app (not sure about ios or mac).

    2-character addresses like ab@hey.com are $999/year, 3-character addresses like abc@hey.com are $349/year. All other @hey.com email addresses, 4-characters or more, are just $99/year.
    *no thanks i stay with gmail which is completely free*

    Unless they give a substantial amount of e-mail aliases, it is not that worth the money. All the features mentioned here can be easily implemented on top of Gmail, if you know basic programming. The only thing Gmail is missing is aliases which I can create/delete to cope with unwanted e-mails.

    • @jamesandersonwalsh
      @jamesandersonwalsh 3 года назад +1

      Not necessarily. Google has a vested interest NOT to protect your privacy, bc of the ad model. If something is free, you're the product. Hey's service has ad tracking detection built-in, including image pixel tracking detection. And Imbox more closely resembles Google Inbox, rather than Gmail.

      @@madameclark3453 , EXACTLY! A comment such as James' is useless to the vast majority of people. Just because James can create a program doesn't mean the rest of us with other careers can. That's like me, as an accountant, saying he can simply read the financial statements of a company to decide to invest; not everyone can do that.

    I don't want to be 'that guy'. But because I already pay for my email (G suite for my business). I do struggle slightly to pay for an extra service like this.
    So while Hey might be a great product. the main thing I wonder is: How we can 'emulate' a lot of Hey's features in Gmail?

    The idea is great, but it's also its own disadvantage. For someone who gets several important emails from different people, it won't really be helpful, but for a person who gets over our two mails from from the same people, it'll be ok
