Tommy's voice is still INCREDIBLE
Just saw Styx in Houston last night. Also a life-long fan (45+ years). It was their 6th show in 7 days, and they still had the same amazing energy....at nearly 70 years old. So Amazing. Tommy and JY don't seem to age.
I was there also. These guys haven't changed. The harmonies and of course their playing. Great show.
A year ago I won the autographed guitar they were giving away for their charities with all seven members signing it

I was 17 in 1973 when I discovered Styx. Haven't looked back and can't wait for more. This is a band for the ages!

I was 10 at that time, but feel the same way! Later, during our HS senior trip, the music from Styx (and Journey) was played non-stop on the long bus travels and every other chance we got! "The memories of yesterday will last a lifetime!" definitely they were some of the "Best of times!" Peace, Brent! 🎵🎶🎹 ☮

One more add. James Young is a phenomenal guitarist! Even when I was a little kid, I remember seeing him. He was way way way ahead of his time!
great style, i personally prefer Tommy shaws style, where Tommy doesnt feel the need to do pinch harmonics and whammy drops, to cover up JYs "shittyness" and i put that in quotes because, there are certain guitar techniques to cover up slop. JY has NO slop, he has been playing for a half of a century in 50 years.
Tommy on the other hand, has the slides, the bends, and the soft major melodic scales, in the best of times, Listen to the best of times in the return to paradise tour. Thats what i call a phenominal guitar solo.
Tommy is a very underated lead guitarist
saw them on 4/13/23 in Texas. I have t to say I was totally impressed with the line up. I saw them in the 80's a few times, Great concert
I was at the show. What a great reunion. This show was 2 days before the 50th anniversary of the legendary STYX being created. i was about 10 rows back. STYX and universal combined is unbeatable

I also saw this tour. It was great. (Not a reunion, by the way. The core of this version of the band has been together since 1995, with Gowan joining in 1999. Now, if Dennis DeYoung ever comes back, that would definitely be a reunion I'd love to see.)
i saw them 2 26 2022 at san antonio rodeo. was soooo good. cant stop reliving it threw these video's. thx for capturing it for all to enjoy .

Saw these guys just a few hours ago. Dude on the spinning keyboards was an awesome front man.
People say well Dennis could play the organ and synthesizer at the same time. So can Lawrence Gowan but he does it with one instrument and knows how to tune it to make the same songs. Dennis would still be there if he didn't feel the rest should be his band to do what he wanted to do.
. They gave in and did his little movie about the Robots but he wanted more and they didn't want to go where he was leading them. So that's the Dennis Deyoung story. He won't be coming back.
I love that i can roll back and forth from the old days to the present. RUclips rocks.

I saw Tommy on an episode of Darryl’s House, and his voice is still in tact after all these years.
Grew up with this band still kicking ass and sounding great will see them everytime there in my neck of the woods always a great show

I remember, years ago, stopping on a channel that was showing Styx Live with a children's orchestra and thinking, this ought to be pretty cool....Then I keyed in on the drummer (as I always do, being a drummer myself) and thinking "Who the hell is this guy? He's spectacular!" He's been one of my favorite drummers ever since!

I've been a fan of this band every since day one! That's been a very very very long time ago. I was only 8 years old the first time I seen them (Tommy was a little kid). lol. They blew my mind! That was way back in 1969.

Saw them live multiple times while working on the 2022 Rock Legends Cruise and got to meet them. This guys are THE BEST, they sing everything live and they're really nice people! The real deal.
My son and I just saw this concert in Winnipeg a few nights ago, great concert, and (like you) I recorded the whole thing! We had Nancy Wilson's Heart open, I recorded that, too!

I remember reading a story about how they found Tommy. Strangely, Dennis was driving in a neighborhood and he heard this fantastic guitar playing coming from one of the people's garages. He searched until he found out where it was coming from, and he went there and it was Tommy. He offered him a job, and rest is history! lol Who has that kind of luck?

I went to the show end of last month. Best concert I have ever seen. They were in sync and seeing all the original band members less Dennis DeYoung of course was epic! 50 years ago almost I first heard them. Life has never been the same since.
Just saw them last nite in st . Augustine. They sounded great & did a great show. But did not play Suite Madame Blue & Miss America; which was a bummer.. but guess they had their reasons. Still awesome after 50 years!

Yea I say Styx in Mississippi 2 yrs ago. Amazing concert well worth the ticket price. I have been a fan of their's since they came out in the 70's. Just wish I could have seen Tommy Shaw when he was a member of the Damn Yankees.

I think the greatest Styx reunion would be, Dennis getting his act together and bury the hatchet with these guys and make some music.
It's not Dennis saying no! It's the bitter and juvenile attitudes of Tommy Shaw and JW! Read the recent interview they did and JW leaves so many facts out about the history of Styx and especially dumps on Dennis and his contributions. So sad. JW and Shaw are the ones who can't bury the hatchet! I respect them as musicians but not as human beings.

Thanks for posting this! I could never film a whole concert but I'm glad someone did! Styx are awesome - saw them 3 times this year, unfortunately it was with Nancy Wilson so we got robbed of precious time of more Styx songs...
Yeah, I'm literally skipping the show in Abbotsford BC because half the show will be Nancy Wilson, who is not at all my style. Styx should've had another rock band open for them, not her.
@@jonathanjones1064 so I just saw them again at their Las Vegas residency (5 shows, was helping with the charity), and it was wonderful to have them full time!
They are legends, and right up there with the very best. They are certainly up there with Led Zeppelin, Sabbath, all of those bands! You just don't see bands like this anymore! This was a real treat!
Their longevity!!!!! Do you think Robert Plant and Ozzy Osbourne can sing the way Tommy does at 65?!?
well in Tommy's case he made the right decisions, hes vegan, he runs 100 miles every morning, and he does vocal exercises every day almost.
The rest of them still continued to do drugs and drink alcohol and shot their voice.

And the sad part about this all, after all this resentment, De Young can still kill it, Yes i want to leave behind the Roboto and the candy ass, and the light syndrom hes got but he can still kill it and even though I put tommy on a pedastal as the best guitarist, songwriter and singer package deal of all time. Tommy and JY claim, "were done with that" "we want to move on"
Tommy and JY still are carrying a grudge.

Machines to save our lives. Machine Dehumanize, Kilroy was one of the best Shows because it was so different. We walked out the 10k packed civic center amazed. They were fantastic...

I did not know that Tommy is older than I am. He's 68. I'm 61. I thought he was just a teen in the 70's. You know a talent one? I was a great guitarist when I was a teenager, and I almost got discovered, but I did something dumb that caused me to experience a stroke!
