Marina, I loved this tour, this is one of my all time favorite shows, I still watch on TVland today. I can really relate to this family! My name is Deborah and when I married my husband in the 90's, he already owned and was living in the house across the street from his parents. He is one of 2 sons, his brother never married and remained very close to my mother in law. My mother in law was so much like Marie! She kept a box of coupons around, so that anytime she saw a car in the driveway, she would come over with a coupon and say, "oh, I did not know you had company", LOL!! We had our ups and downs, but we had a built in cat sitter and watcher over our home when we were away, so there were some positives! Also, I must be old fashioned, because I loved the house so much more with the wall paper and all the colors then the new sleek set you showed, maybe because I have a lot of color in my home. I hope you will do the parent's home on day, plastic on the sofa and all!!!!!! 😊

Great job of assuming what would be in the den!! I also love those scenes you mentioned, and the luggage Easter egg was so perfect!! That was one of my favorite episodes!
But I also love the one when Robert dated the woman with all the frogs in her bedroom. Oh - and the one that told the story of the giant wooden spoon and fork on Marie’s kitchen wall 😂. Thank you Marina for another great tour of a classic show ❤. P.S. - the house just isn’t quite the same without the children’s clutter!

This is a show I didn't watch very often, but I do remember the episode with Debra trying to get the turkey in the oven. This house and the Roseanne house (and probably All In the Family) were the "middle class" houses that most people could relate to. The furniture didn't match, everything clashed with the wallpaper, toys & laundry all over. Debra was pregnant when they bought the house so they probably fixed up the nursery and never got around to the rest, which is very relatable. And I loved seeing how it might look today; the kids are grown so Debra finally gets to redecorate it. Thanks for that! A wonderful tour. And I'd actually like to see the house from Roseanne. That's one that I've never really been able to figure out; the inside certainly doesn't match the outside.

I begged my husband to buy it but he said no and I'm so glad he did. Marie is EXACTLY like my mother in law. I can't do anything right and my husband can do no wrong. One time she was at my house and Everybody Loves Raymond was on the tv. She looked at me and said "can you imagine having a mother in law like that"? I just looked at my husband and smiled.

This sitcom is good. A lot of wives in real life are the Debra, with loving and hardworking husbands, but sometimes stupid ones. We all can relate with her when she gets frustrated and being a stay at home mom with ALL the chores. And the bonus of having a mother inlaw right across the street.....sweet and sour. But then, being Marie, some of us get that too. Our sons are our gold mines. No other female is good enough for our boys. Pretty comical and l truly laugh when l watch this...enjoyable and it's an all time favorite.....

Another lovely job, Marina! The Barone house reminds me a bit of the All in the Family house with the arrangement of spaces on the main floor, the stair configuration, the basement access location. Overall, the set designers did a good job. I always thought the bathroom was a bit wonky though. All that space and just a pedestal sink?! It is what it is I guess. Contrary to most of the rooms’ hodgepodge feel, I always thought the master bedroom had the most matchy matchy furniture catalog feeling; not necessarily a bad thing. I loved your updated 2023 interpretation. I could totally see you do your thing with the homes for Family (late 1970’s drama), Family Ties, Diff’rent Strokes, and maybe Facts of Life (unless you only strictly do residences)!

  • @crwlh6721

I think the upstairs window w/the light that turned out was in their bedroom, but the dormer to the right of that window is a kid's room. The dormers on either side of their bed face the backyard, rather than the front, and are closer than the dormers on the front of the house. Also, this makes sense because they always show them going up the stairs then taking a left turn to enter their room. Due to the stairs' orientation, this would mean their bedroom is at the back of the house, rather than the front. The bathroom is also at the back. Also, guess the garage could be a tandem 2 gar garage, which could make that back door feasible.

Uh oh, here comes Scott with his LONG commentary!! It’s worth it.
Has anybody noticed a striking resemblance between the interior of the Barones’ home and the Bunkers’ from All in the Family? Going by the background sets, you could always tell Ray and Deborah’s house was bigger. I just thought it was interesting was all.
Also, I’m curious to know if the set design was completed before they had settled on which house to use for exterior shots, because, unlike the Bunkers’ house, there isn’t a great deal of plausibility there. You have to suspend belief a little more and use your imagination. It doesn’t look like the set designer took any cues from the actual home.
Absolutely loved seeing Frank and Marie’s house out the window as we walked down the stairs! Nice touch! Of course, it stands to reason that it should be there, #1 because we know from the story of the show that Frank and Marie live across the street, and #2 both homes in real life are indeed across the street from each other… which always made me wonder why Frank and Marie are often seen entering Ray and Deborah’s through the kitchen door in the back of the home. Maybe it was done for the Italian “famiglia” effect, I dunno. Just kinda seems odd that the grandparents would take all that extra time to walk around the home in order to enter through the back when they live just across the street! 😅
As another commenter here already stated, I think your music choice for this video is spot-on. It’s reminiscent of the music from the show, but also I think it’s comforting in sort of a “Mr. Rogersey” sort of way, if that makes any sense 😂.
Speaking of comforting, I have to say that the set design for this show was so perfectly and thoughtfully done. Just the kitchen alone reminds me of home. It looks like a busy, slightly messy family home from the east coast, and I love it for that. There is nothing more comforting than feeling like you’re back at your parents’ place. I feel like that stove anchors the room beautifully. I mean, that’s where all the wonderful smells came from when mom did her cooking, so of course that kitchen stove screams “COMFORT!” Overall, it’s a home you could feel completely comfortable walking in, grabbing a cookie and milk, sitting on that fluffy sofa, and chatting with Deborah.
Marina, the Easter eggs in this one were particularly awesome, I loved it!
Ray and Patricia are *remarkable* actors. I think it’s stunning how a comedian like Ray Romano is able to be such a versatile actor at the same time. In all the other works he’s done, you never look at him and see so much as a trace of “Ray Barone.” That is the mark of a truly gifted actor.
Loved the remake. Once the kids are out of the home, then of course mom is going to clean things up and redecorate. Wonderfully plausible, Marina. I loved it!
TV home suggestions… I know I would love to see the sets from 3’s Company; the apartments, as well as the Regal Beagle. That would be so much fun! 😅
This was wonderful, Marina! Thanks again!!!

Oh my God!! Thank you so much dearest Marina! ELR is certainly in my Top 3 TV shows and I always wished that you would do a tour of it one day. I guess in some weeks you will show us Marie and Frank's home as well. That would be amazing (and neater😂). But i'll enjoy every bit of this video first. Be blessed and have a beautiful week-end - you made mine 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤🧡💛💚

You know, Marina (even though you really don't, ha ha!), ever since I began watching your videos, I started to imagine what a dream home would look like--or, rather, more specifically, giving homes common sense features that they don't already have for some inexplicable reason.
I imagine a cubby hole at the foot of a wall by the front door where everyone can kick their outdoor/indoor shoes into (with something to cover it up--haven't figured that part out yet; raising plates for each section with a hand hole to lift up with, a locking mechanism, and a flush release button, perhaps).
I also imagine a small closet in the kitchen for the trash can and another (or the same) closet for cleaning supplies. (Remember when homes had supply closets? Whatever happened to those things? Now all of our brooms, dust pans, mops, and buckets are exposed for everyone to see!)
Then, in the bathroom, a wall (or portion of) or space under the counter could house, say, a row of five dirty laundry baskets and closed off with doors if desired. Also, floor drains for the bathroom and kitchen!
Good ideas in general, not catering to any specific individual. Maybe if we can get TV homes to look like that, then people will start asking for them, eh?

You always do such a superb job on these videos and it seems like you really enjoy making them! I especially appreciate your imaginings of the fourth wall and basing your decisions on clues provided from specific episodes. Does that mean you re-watch all episodes of a series before completing a home tour, or are you going from memory? Either way, pretty amazing work!

    • @MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane
      @MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane  8 месяцев назад

Both. I start rewatching it as I'm researching and modeling. But a lot of it comes from remembering certain episodes that gave us information about the house.

Very cool, I've been waiting for this one! I hope you do Frank & Marie's home too, I'm very intrigued about their staircase, which seems to be behind their kitchen and is semi-shown from upstairs at least once. Their basement is cool too, with a very high ceiling. I'm so glad you added the den to this video, I always assumed it was a downstairs bathroom back there, but your setup is better!
17:30 I noticed the luggage on the landing of the stairs right away - and I knew you must have done it because of that hilarious episode with the never-moving suitcase!

I thought the San Francisco home was gorgeous and I have always been curious about the floor plan since I didn't think they showed the house enough for me to figure out where some of the rooms were located..such as the kitchen , maids room.. . was there a dinning room, etc.

I love what you did in the kitchen, and your leaving the stove was a special touch, or may I say treat (gift). This is a special home with special characters. I loved Marie and Debra. I was almost always on Debra's side of arguments. My favorite argument was Debra's time of the month, and Marie slapping Ray was priceless. One of my favorite scenes was Ray trying to put Debra on top of the refrigerator as Robert did Amy🤣🤣 I love Patricia as an actress, and as a person. I have great respect for her. So many great episodes, but one of my favorites was "Why are we here". When Ray kept getting thrown curve balls from his daughter, and he kept failing, that was hilarious! 🤣🤣 And Robert's sweet, innocent crush on Debra was fun to watch. Marie was the queen bee of both houses. And Stefania was so beautiful and funny. Not irritating at all. 🤣🥰
