I love your channel, Marina. You brought the Jeffersons back to life. I loved that show and all the cast members. I wish they were all still with us.

Well isn't Marla Gibbs still alive?

I love these videos. Any plans to do Three's Company? While their apartment is fairly obvious, there is also Larry's, the Ropers'/Mr. Furley's, the Regal Beagle, Jack's Bistro. These videos are so fun!
It's not on my current list, but you never know.
For trivia buffs, The Jefferson's apartment appears in an episode of Good Times where JJ moves in with what he thinks are just bookies but they turn out to be selling drugs also. JJ is skinny enough to hide in the kitchen's broom closet when the apartment is raided by the police. Although the furniture in the living room and dining room are different, there's no mistaking that distinctive Jefferson's kitchen with the handles in the middle of the cabinets.
Awesome! I didn't know this. Thanks for sharing.
The Sanford and Son set appears to be the same one used for What's Happenin'. Even the upstairs bedroom was the same!
@@michie826 Hmm. Can't wait to check that out. I love tips like this.
….and then there was me going immediately to find the snippets of Good Times to make comparisons then straight to Sanford and Son and What’s Happening l

Job well done! There was at least one episode that I remember where Florence and her new boyfriend were on the balcony where you saw the fourth wall in the background. I remember seeing a painting on the wall and a television, so you are right. :) The Jeffersons is my all-time favorite sitcom and my favorite TV set.

As a kid growing up in the 1990's and watching the reruns of this classic show with my parents, I always thought this apartment was more like a condo. It was beautiful and sharp the way it was presented and even today this particular interior setting would stand up. We lived in a "Brady Bunch" style home but I always admired the architecture of this time era.
I love when I hear about others that were noticing set design even as a kid. Im not alone 😊
OMG!!! You did your thing recreating this entire apartment look for the Jeffersons. Everything was on point, accurate & entertaining. That picture of Billy D Williams in Florence room #PRICELESS. Such a creative mind to help us visualize this home. I enjoyed to the fullest 👍🏾🤣

I love to watch that show when I was little. My favorite character was Florence. I also loved looking at the cool interiors from the late 70s to the early 80s. Maybe do another show 227
Florence had some of the best lines and her delivery was spot on.
The wall in the kitchen would definitely have a china cabinet on it where Weezy could display all of her gorgeous china! I grew up in the 70s the Jeffersons brings back so many fun memories love that show!
Oooo. That's a great idea.
Wouldn't the China Cabinet be better in the dining room?
China cabinets aren’t kept in kitchens. If they had one it would’ve been in the dining area.
This is officially the coolest ish Ive seen in the history of the Internet 🤣🙆🏾♀️👏🏾 The Jeffersons is my favorite sitcom of time and I always dreamed of living in a deluxe apartment like this one and sometimes with them lol. So this is so surreal to me. I never can imagine a extra door in the kitchen but other than that great job. Now I wanna see The Willis's apartment😁

This was a great tour. I love the background on the actors too. You did a great job with those kitchen cabinets. They look eerily similar to our 1979 kitchen cabinets that we just got rid of last year about this time! 😅 Great job, I love these videos and can't wait to see more!
"Eerily similar" - 😊 I like that. And, thanks. Glad you're enjoying the tours.
The thoroughness on Florence's room is amazing.
The Billy D Williams photo in her bedroom was her finishing touch.
Definitely
I love the door in the kitchen. My mom's best friend had an apartment in Manhattan, and there was a service entrance in the kitchen through which delivery people could drop off groceries or caterers could enter and exit for parties, as the service elevator and stairs were just outside the door. Love your tours, Marina. This is my third one today!
Glad you're enjoying them. Thanks for the info on the service door.
I love watching your videos since it's really difficult sometimes to picture what these places would look like if they actually existed, especially since stage sets aren't laid out as they would be in real life. Nice detail with the Billy Dee pic in Florence's room!
Thanks. Glad you're enjoying these tours.
I loved the complexity of the hall, with its twists and varying width that allowed for furniture placement. It really gives the space interest.
When I finally had it all finished and took the camera down there nd turned around to come back down the hall, I think I let out a, "Wow!" It looked so much cooler than I pictured. And even though none of the actors ever had a hallway like that to walk down, I loved seeing what it would have looked like if it was real.
My Favorite Piece Of Furniture Was That Gorgeous Gold Bar Cart It Makes The Room!!!💯❤I Still Want It!!!😎🌴
@@cherriezontop567 Yes. Very nice.
Awesome job! I always loved their deluxe apartment in the sky. I too thought that shelf feature above their bed was so cool and always enjoyed looking at it illuminated at night during the opening intro when George is dancing around on top of the bed
Yes! The set designers went all out on that wall. And it would not be hard to add to an existing home. Very doable.
That is possibly why I tried to find a bed with that design. If you look at the furnishing in the early 1980’s, a lot of furniture stores emulate that feature.
I wonder why the set designers had Lionel's room as his and not Florence's? With the door to close off the 2 bedrooms it would have made sense for that area to be the family's private area.
Yeah. I agree. I wish they were still around to ask. I have so many questions.
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane there has to be someone from the set crew still here to ask. Praise God Marla is still here. I have many questions as well. I don’t believe they would have had a laundry room considering the apartment wasn’t up on the penthouse floor as Mr Whittendale’s.
I think even Florence was known /seen going to the laundry room other than the times they had meetings in there.
@@birdie.b I messaged Marla on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, hoping to get an interview, but never heard back. I would have LOVED to hear her stories!

Your videos are amazing! You always blow me away showing the layouts of my favorite homes I grew up watching on tv (and still do) and dreamed I could live in. Thank you for all the nostalgic trips down memory lane.
I love hearing this. Thank you. I'm glad I'm not alone in my curiosity about these homes.

Well, you made my day. Thank you 😊
Totally agree! This. Was. Awesome!👏👏🙌😊
Having her do a weekly show on HGTV would be a breath of fresh air.....
This wasn't just great, it was astonishing. Marina, all of your TV home tours have been wonderful, but it seems like you're getting more and more better with each one. I watched this on my smartphone at the market today, then came home and watched it on my 50" tv, it's just beautiful. I was going to say their apartment has a funky layout, when we look at it from above, but I live in a 100 unit high-rise comprised of studios one and two bedroom units and you would be surprised at the variety of layouts we have. Anyway, BIG thank you for this latest tour!! You're awesome! 🙂💖👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you! And, thanks for the insight into the fact that high-rise apartments can have crazy layouts. 😊
Wow - Nostalgia is on 100 right now. As an 80's baby who grew up watching all these old shows at her grandmothers house🏡... ~Thank you~ 💖💜💖
Thank you! I always loved this show. I couldn't wait to see into that back hallway. We didn't get to see enough of this deluxe apartment.
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane Yes! That hallway!😍 The production on these videos is A-mazing. From the music, to your voice, to all the technicality & details.. Truly wonderful. Please keep 'em coming! ~Happy holidays!🎄
@@MsAdreaL Glad you like the tours.
Beautifully done Marina! Your voice, the in-depth demo and the walk-through of the apartment brought back so many wonderful childhood memories. It was so nice to see the "missing" parts of the apartment we weren't shown on TV.. I have a full picture of what it looks like now! Thanks for this!
Thank you! So good to hear.
I always figured that back door of the kitchen led to a service area, including an elevator. You mention stairs, but I find it hard to believe such a deluxe apartment would make someone carry groceries through the entire length of the apartment to the kitchen in the back--there'd likely have been rear access for those kinds of errands, like they had in the Family Affair apartment. As for the blank wall in the kitchen, I'm imaging a big baker's rack, which were popular in the 1970s. Someone else mentioned a china cabinet, but I think if the Jeffersons had either a china cabinet or a buffet, those would have been in the dining room.
Thanks for the input. I remember baker's racks! I'd forgotten about them.
I believe the kitchen "back" door led to the hallway. It's common in luxury apartments/condos to have a "service" entrance. In come cases good friends would use it. I distinctly remember the Willis's using that entrance every now and then to pop in for a visit.
I would assume the apartment, being a deluxe high rise apartment, probably had another entrance to the hallway. I know building codes and rules are different now than they were then, but now many new builds require a second door, or a backdoor, just incase say a fire in the Jeffersons front door area prevented their escape they'd have the kitchen back door to fall back on, and having a terrace isn't an acceptable replacement because you could stand out there away from the apartment fire yea but that is several hundred feet up and smoke would be pouring out of the windows and such.
I've lived in apartments and condos and I never seem any of them with two entrance. And you mention Family Affair, Wow! that really takes me back..
@@empire7179
I've lived in many different apartments as well. I assure you that *my* apartments never had a service entrance, but the ultra high-end ones sometimes do.
Your videos are so much fun to watch. I definitely like the living room better with that beautiful bookshelf, and I like the idea of the kitchen having a second door.
😊 Thank you!
Great job! Love the pic of Billy Dee Williams in Florence's room, but was hoping to compare and contrast the apartment before and after they redecorated in the later seasons.
Hmmm. Maybe someday I'll do the redecorated version.

i always liked the jeffersons & their "deluxe apartment in the sky" - so many tv & movie apartments can be garish but 'the jeffersons', 'the bob newhart show', the first 'mary tyler moore show' & last but not least, 'that girl' all have an element of reality to them - enjoyed & thanks! :)
I can't wait to do the apartment from Bob Newhart. Loved it. I'm doing Family Affair next month and it's pretty amazing too.

So much to comment on! First I love it that you included a picture of Billy Dee Williams in Florence's room. She had such a major crush on him and even got kissed by him in one episode. I thought she'd have had a real life sized poster of him on the wall lol! I agree that they'd have had to have their own laundry room. I keep thinking if we ever moved from our apartment the two things I want are a small laundry room with washer and dryer instead of having to go down to the laundry room here where it opens and closes at certain times and with covid only one could use it at a time. I also want a bath and a half so my husband and I don't have to wait for each other. How did families stand it when there were 4 children plus parents and only ONE bathroom?
Maybe sometime you could do 704 Hauser Street the home of the Bunkers on AITF. We usually only saw the living room, dining room and kitchen but I'd be interested in the layout of the upstairs. And that elusive fourth wall downstairs.
As usual, your work is brilliant and I love watching these videos.
Thanks for sharing all of that! Glad you liked the tour. When I did Florence's room I just knew Billy Dee had to be in there.
I'd like to see All In The Family house too.
I recall several bedroom scenes on AITF. Remember the toilet flushes? 🤭
@@sparker7768 I know, but I was thinking mostly of the upstairs hall. We saw it really well in one episode, the one where Theresa has her boyfriend over when Archie and Edith are planning a trip out of town and then miss their bus or something and come home unexpectedly. Edith finds Theresa upstairs and they talk about what's going on and I love that hall, you see the nice woodwork and a table between the bedrooms. I know you see the bathroom in one episode, the one where Gloria and Mike are going to move to California and they're all in there, and Mike and Archie are having to share the mirror. Of course I remember the terlit flushes (I have pronounced it that way since the show was on originally lol). And we often saw Mike and Gloria's bedroom and Archie and Edith's. Sometimes I imagine how I would fix up the bedrooms on that show and every other show I watch, and all the homes I've lived in, how I would arrange the furniture etc. I know, I'm nuts.
Thank you for this video. I loved the Jefferson's apartment. When I was a kid I thought it was so great! We always watched The Jefferson's.

The other odd thing is the placement of the elevator. It’s at the end of the hallway. I lived in an apartment building, no where near a deluxe apartment in the sky, in the Bronx, and it was centered. The Bronxwood Tower, on east 233rd street.
Fun Fact: the Bronxwood Tower was seen in the movie love story with Ryan O’Neil. He was working selling Christmas trees in the Boston area. But in fact he was on east 233rd street, Bronx NY.
Good point about the elevator placement.

Another awesome video & tour! I really like the music you chose for the video. Very representative for the time.
Just a small point, the Jefferson moved to Manhattan, the upper East Side, specifically, from (Astoria) Queens, not the Bronx..
George and Louise were neighbors of Archie Bunker on the CBS sitcom, “All in the Family.”
Yes. Several people have pointed that out. I don't know how I goofed it up.
Wouldn't that mean a similar floorplan?
Fantastic! I prefer the delineation between the living and dining rooms. The walls are small enough so that it still has an openness ... but not too much. I finally have a clear picture of the bedrooms in my mind now thanks to you. They very rarely showed Lionels or Florences rooms. Really enjoyed this one! So many great memories. ✌❤

THIS (!!!!) is why I love RUclips. This was the video I didn't know I needed. Unfortunately, I am supposed to meet friends for dinner. But, I have to watch the Tour of the Bewitched Home. I can't imagine how long it took to do this, but I am so happy you did. Thank you!
Thank you so much! It's comments like this that keep me going.
And with the last name of Montgomery, I can see why you want to watch Bewitched next.
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane You are more than welcome, Marina. Keep up the great work!
@@santodomingoexpat6866 😊
I'm finishing up Home Alone right now, by the way. And then it's on to Family Affair.
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane I can't wait! I was going to ask about the Mary Tyler Moore apartment, but then I see you have already done it. Bravo!
@@santodomingoexpat6866 I'm going to be redoing it though. That was when I was first learning the software. I want to add information too, instead of just a tour.
Thank you for this love the Jefferson’s and always wished they had filmed a set tour
Glad you liked the tour.

OMG, I was going to post a comment saying the only thing missing from Florence's room was a picture of Billy Dee Williams.... 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 The amount of work and knowledge that goes into these videos is insane 😍 Thank you so much for doing these!!
That's awesome. Glad I included it. It was the first thing I thought of to put in there.

This was wonderful! Thank you so much for the trip down memory lane. Do you remember the time George was dog sitting Mr. Whittendales' dog 'Poopsie' , who took a flying leap over the balcony? One of the funniest & shocking moments in tv history!
I sure do remember it!
The 4th wall of the living room was actually shown once, IIRC. I remember Florence being on the balcony with a man and the camera showing the never-seen wall
Thanks for sharing that.
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane No problem! Now I'm gonna be on the hunt for that episode! Stumbled upon this channel and I really enjoyed this video. It made me think that Florence's room could've been Mother Jefferson's bedroom before her death since Florence was originally asked to stay with the Jeffersons and sleep in Lionel's room
@@michie826 Let me know the episode when you find it. I did see one called, "George 's Dream," where we get just a glimpse of the wall. But, I'd love to see the one you're referring to.
Season 10, episode 5 "How Not To Marry A Millionaire"
@@michie826 Thank you! I'll check it out.
Fantastic job, Marina. Thank you for making this tour possible!
Glad you liked the tour.
Love the homely sets....the homes in the 70's were big & beautiful!
Yes! so beautiful and so spacious. It really was a deluxe apartment in the sky. 🎵

This show was a huge part of my childhood, and I always used to wonder about those bedrooms! Loved this tour. Thanks!
That is one of the reasons I couldn't wait to do it - I wanted to see in that back hallway. We didn't get to see a lot of the apartment and it was so cool. Glad you liked the tour. You did such an amazing job. I’ve enjoyed watching your videos. I’m glad you explained the kitchen. I always thought it was tiny. Lol.
I thought it was tiny too before I started researching for this episode
I was surprised. It had seemed cramped with that table in there.
As usual I love it! always a great job on these tours. its so fun touring the homes that we grew up!
I like the way you worded that - "homes that we grew up in."
So true...fun memories.
Thank you!!!!!I've always have wanted to go there and look. This was perfectly done! I appreciate all of your hard work and putting this together. It really does mean a lot to me. I used to watch this show with my family so long ago. This was a real treat to see. Thanks again! ❤💚
Yay! Glad you liked the tour and I love that it brought back great memories 😊

The kitchen table is the same one the Jefferson's had in their house when they lived next to Archie Bunker on "All In The Family". Cool that they brought it with them.
Awesome. I didn't catch that.

Always so much fun!Thanks!
Thank you. Good to hear.
Always a phenomenal job!! I watched this in high school. You nailed it👍😊
Thank you! That's always good to hear.
I love the added touch of the portrait of Billy Dee Williams on Florence's bedroom dresser. He was her all time favorite leading man & featured in an episode of The Jeffersons.
👍🏽💯😊
When I started Florence's room, that's the first thing that popped in my head. 😊
This was so fun to watch. Thank you!
I do have to mention that I would have loved to have heard more about the bar in the living room, only because as a kid I thought that they had juice in all of those pitchers (decanters). I decided that when I grew up I wanted to have my own juice bar in my house.
I am happy to report that as a fully grown adult, I now have my own living room bar with "juice". We call it "The Jefferson Juice Bar"
I love it!
I love this!!! I always wondered what that “deluxe apartment in the sky” would look like.
I wonder about the apartment in Three’s Company, the house in What’s Happening? And the apartment in Good Times.
Good Times is on my list. It's a looong list though. Wish I could get them out faster or had a clone helping. 😉

My Aunt and Uncle owned a high-rise co-op apartment in Brooklyn, NY in the sixties. When you walked in there was a closet by the door, a hallway to the guest bathroom and the master suite beyond. A living room with a balcony and a good size kitchen. It seemed spacious and modern to us kids. The Jefferson's apartment always reminds me of them.
This was great and really fun. I also loved the fun facts about the characters as well. Great job!
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.
I'm finishing up Home Alone. It should be out tomorrow.

Thanks for the way you honor The Jeffersons as a a show and the actors/actresses
I liked how each of them had their own "movin' on up" story. 😍
Fun fact. The theme song to the Jeffersons was sung by Floridas best friend Milona from Good Times.
Cool!
Wonderful job!! I loved this so much!! Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
These just keep getting better ! ! ! , You have mastered these floorplans , i can't wait to see many more to come! (:->)
Thank you so much! I love hearing that. Up next - Home Alone. After that, Family Affair. I got to interview Kathy Garver [Cissy] for that one and she gave some great behind-the-scenes stories. It will be a fun one.
These re-creations are so fun! Thank you for all the research and careful attention to detail in making them!
Thank you. I'm glad you like the tours. Im currently finishing up the Home Alone house. It will be out in mid-December
Amazing as always. I loved The Jeffersons and their apartment was wonderful. I would imagine they would have a larger kitchen with two ways to go in and out eventhough we only saw one entrance.
It really was a deluxe apartment in the sky.
My siblings and I still get a laugh from the line Florence said, I think, on the first episode:
"How come we overcame and nobody told me?"
I remember her saying that line!
I enjoy your videos so much! Thank you for making them.
😊
So exciting when you do a new one - I absolutely love the work you do for us
Thank you so much. Great to hear. Im currently working on Home Alone. It should be up in 2 weeks.
The apartment building shown in introduction while their catchy song plays is 185 East 85th Street in Manhattan. I grew up up the block from there.
Cool! So you know it well.

Love these videos. Love the backdrop in George and Weezys bedroom
Me too. The set designers went all out on that wall.
One of the best TV Apartment of all time.
Yes, Billy Dee would be on Florence's chest. nice touch. Thanks for your deep respect of the craft, and the fandom. Well done. Can't wait to meet you on Mockingbird Lane.
When I started Florence's room, that was the one thing I knew she'd have in there😊
In reality the apartments in this building were pretty basic. The ones I've seen listed have short ceilings and a basic layout...what I call a bowling alley. Where there is natural light on one end but dark otherwise. I've never seen one listed with more than two bedrooms and I highly doubt any of them had 4 bathrooms. My guess is the laundry is indeed common and shared. Of course I'm talking about the actual building not the set.
I went online to check them out. I wanted to get an idea of how much the rent would be. And I found the same thing you did - there were none with the number of bedrooms, bathrooms and square feet. So, the rent in today's dollars remains a mystery.
It's funny you mention the bowling alley floorplan. I live in such apartment. I always get envious when I watch The Jeffersons because the apartment seems to have a much more interesting layout.
@@microbios8586 I forgot to add the sq ft in the video - 3,100! It is huge. Plus, like you said, the layout is great too.
Awesome!! You have such an unique channel! Thanks so much for sharing!!
Thank you! I'm glad you like it. I sure have fun doing it.
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane You're very welcome!
OMG‼️ Growing in the 70s I LOVED watching The Jeffersons and was so impressed by their luxury apartment.
I was tickled to finally see their entire apartment which was a mystery to me. Thank you soooo very much for your hard work in solving this mystery! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽‼️😁
That makes me so happy to hear! One of the reasons I made this tour is that I always was so curious to see back in that hallway and figure out the layout. Great show. Great writing, casting and acting. 😍

Thank for this.
George Jefferson was my favorite character on t.v as a kid. He was the 1st and only self black made millionaire on t.v. He took care of his family and stood his ground at all times. The blueprint for The Cosby Show and other black family shows that followed
And he was so good in the role. No one else could have played the part.
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane I agree the original actor was ok but nothing like Sherman Hemsley.
