    @22:03
    Q: How do you manage tilt and frustration?
    MBT: It is what it is
    Cali: Find the positive in the negative! Don't let what happened at the beginning of your day ruin the rest of your day! :)
    Banish: Just don't lose bro

    I like Triff's approach to deck building where he tries to cram as many 1 card combo starters from as many engines that gel together. His reasoning behind it is that your opponent will likely interrupt the first or 2nd starter with hard once per turn cards so you wanna see as many starters as possible

    Gotta shout out that GGYGO makes the most comprehensive handtrap vids, they help me understand how the decks are actually played and how to wage your hand against them instead of just ranking.

    I completely understand MBT's thought process on fewer choices in a deck for endurance during a tournament. MTG talk, my best tops were pretty linear combo decks, as playing a midrange or control deck would wear me out on anything larger than a locals. My best tops were with Izzet Creativity at Hunter Burton Memorial and Dark Depths Combo at a Legacy tournament in Japan. Worst days playing were with complicated decks like Hardened Scales (LOTS of decisions) and UW Control.

      i played a few mtg tourney's and i played mainly tempo control decks this was way before teferi from dom came out. i got out of the loop but still have 1 deck that's fringe rogue in a sense which is storm

    My main strategy for building a new deck is net deck for simple understanding and ratios and once I start to understand it more I start to learn which cards I want to swap out and in, this is not particularly smart but it's all I know how to do

  • @FalseSaiyan420
    @FalseSaiyan420 Год назад

    All of this is so true, especially when you have a rough round. A brief reset at a tournament (between games) doing something else can really help the emotions calm and a space to think, if it was an L or a missplay.
    Speaking of missplay, winning on a missplay by yourself is such a natural high!

    6:15 So true and my mindset as a Virtual World player 💯 if you're gonna play a shit tier Deck you better play the sweatiest variant if you're trying to do really well at a large event
    EDIT: I will say this only became my mindset as of recent but even sometimes you can play an experimental "tech" and still be trying to win but just not sure if it's actually optimal

    Definitely a bit of both, ill choose a deck that looks cool but also i like a build with flexibility and different answers to problems. Course if those end up meta then 🤷. If their tier 2-3 then 🤷.

    Honestly I super get the "get away from RUclips" tip, I find the best of learning is go to any auto sim, make sure you can execute your basic combos against the machine (god knows some archetypes look exactly the same for some people, all the pk guys looked the same to me so I would always mess up the lines) then go against people and that's how you understand what your deck does and doesn't like, combo lines from when you opened kinda like garbage that you didn't see in all those different videos you watched about the archetype, you'll see what cards straight up do not work as well as you thought or don't work at all and that's how you understand what other decks don't like

    I always enjoyed playing meta killer decks. I try to avoid full out archetype decks since archetypes are horribly predictable. Recently forced a Dark Magician player to scoop simply by summoning Vampire Genesis and hitting their searcher/summoner. I play archetypes for fun to learn how they function so I can build decks designed to wreck them.

  • @residentgrey

    Reviewing what was released in older boxes is also something few do, thinking they are not relevant beyond some noted tech cards. Even so, previous meta has some gas that can be picked up again. It is why I look at Edison and other Time Mage format games along with the current format.
