Danny's deck was unreal, all the battle recruiters gave me heavy Edison/GOAT vibes but the bombs like Alghoul Mazeera and the Vendreads outpace anything in either of those formats easily.
I mean, Alghoul is a legitimate nuisance even today. If you don't have a negate to spare, you have to banish him directly to turn him off (or have your opponent's field be full, so he can't recur himself).
I knew mbt was going to mess up speedlift as soon as he added it to his deck. It reads like a good card until you realize it's made specifically to not work with terrortop
these 50 cent decks were more competent than 95% of the decks in Master Roulette
That speedroid deck looks like something you would bring to locals and a go 1-2 on a good day

How about this for a series: you get four people together (total, can include yourself), have each one build half a deck, then they pass it to the next person who finishes it. The ones who didn't pass to each other face off, then winners face off.
This sounds super fun! Maybe instead of half a deck, let everyone contribute 10 cards each and then everyone rolls a dice for what deck they are going to end up playing. That way it keeps people from filling the deck with troll cards while also having to find a balance between wanting to screw your opp over or accidentally giving them an insane combo deck.
This sounds like a mess. I want this super bad :D

Neither player can activate cards or effect when that monster is special summoned.
Proceeds to activate terrortop's effect when that monster was special summoned (yes you cant do that and this card sucks).
One of them cheating in an episode is expected at this point
It's still legal because it says that no players can chain anything to that special summon, meaning that it can't be chained to, but Terrortop can still activate it's effect as its own activation. Common mistake.

Real kicker about Enma's Judgement? In the GX Manga it was used by Bastion to summon Red Ogre (shoutouts go to Junior Journey) whose effect to discard and bounce happened ON ANY INSTANCE OF ITS SUMMON, but I guess that was way too powerful for 2007 standards and then they kept Judgement from being released for atleast 10 years.
This series is just too much fun. actually getting me interested in playing paper ygo again. its incredible how much is possible if you look a little bit under the radar.

I've been enjoying the series as well and it's surprising how competent some of the decks actually end up being. You'll still get your shit rocked even at a local level though, so it'll probably just be something you do between friends.
if Konami officially supported multiple formats like WotC does for Magic I think we would see a more interesting, fun to explore, hidden side to Yu-Gi-Oh that we don't usually see. the content is there, it just needs to take shape as a competitive environment
I’m about to disappoint speedroid players. You actually CANNOT activate terrortop’s effect if you summon them off speed lift.
Due to speedlift’s effect, it also applies to on summon effects. 17:16

I feel like they wrote the effect specifically so you can't trigger terrortop, but if you do play it it's pretty good for getting material for link summon and can basically help dump horse stilts or ultra hound.

I love this series, I get excited every time I see a new episode has been uploaded. This is the most fun I have had with watching people enjoy cardboard in a while. I'm always impressed with how competent Joseph's decks seem and then the weird cards Danny pulls out. Hats off to both of you, this is a great series.

Love the confirmation by Danny that nobody can use effects on the summon of the speedlift summoned monster. I literally had just thought, "Joseph activates an effect on the summon doesn't he..."
I love the part where MBT reads the last piece of text on Speedlift and then proceeds to ignore it and activate the effect of the Terrortop summoned off of Speedlift.
Vendread was my first deck after getting back to yugioh in like 2017. I knew they weren't any good but the art and the price convinced me!

This series never ceases to amaze me at how reasonably competent the decks are, when i heard 50 ct decks i was expecting something A LOT worse, those decks really look things you can do decently well at locals from time to time

Devouring sarcophagus was honestly the mvp of difo sneak peek. It basically created a kind of gorz situation with set monsters and forces you to have at least 2 monsters before attacking a set.

That's actually a really interesting idea, there could be quite a bit of strategy coming up with this.
Maybe there could even be a rule sometimes that you can use cards in multiple decks, but have to change your main archetypes for each one, so you could try and trade off a bit of quality in your decks to buy a good engine or staple that you can use multiple timds...

Honestly in this episode Danny just outsmarted him. There is no reason to play a deck with an explosive payoff like kitedrake if you cannot otk right after and generally extra deck is bad. What made MBT lose was basically the fact that he had no synchro toolbox and no repeatability since he has only 6 cards

This was definitely the price point I looked forward to watching the most. Danny absolutely TORE with it.
This one was the best episode so far. The amount of funny parts because of the budget was amazing. You should do lower budgets more regularly.

i did this challenge last broke boy and turns out you can make an entire reaper format dead rat or chaos zaborg deck for under 50 cents. probably woulda been better to play an insane reaper deck than a sub-par modern deck
I don't know why, but watching Joseph and Danny cook while Kirby music plays in the background just brings a dumb little smile to my face.

Vendread is one of those archetypes that just completely hoses the competition in sealed play when it's available.
So, Doug gets clapped by Joe every week, and then Joe gets clapped by Danny every week. Now we need to see Doug vs Danny. Would it be a rock/paper/scissors dynamic, or would Doug get even more destroyed?
I‘m somehow not surprised to see Vendread in an episode where the point is to spend 50 cent max on a deck, because that‘s how much I‘d be willing to spend on a Vendread-deck. I hate playing against them and I probably wouldn‘t bother to try to play them myself.

Shipping is usually around 40 to 60 dollars depending on how many cards they buy from the same store. So the decks will most likely be 10 dollars and under.
Including shipping just forces you into specific stores and what they have in their inventory rather than allowing creative techs like Alghoul Mazera
Looks like Alghoul has gone up in price since then. When Danny added it you could only see a ten cent price which is far too high to be a three-of and there's nothing below that now.

fun fact the reason why the new vendread ritual says summon face down is becouse the inherited efects from the non ritual vendread isnt passed to the rituals that way, they need to be tributed in the field face up for that

8:34 You don't need the Link, the link of Speedroids is a good starter, but if you can have the new Synchro tuner you are much better of, the link is a good second option if you don't happen to have a card to summon red die and a non-tuner. Which if you make the deck well, most of the time, the link monster is the last thing on your mind.

What do you think of Orichalcos? It's an anime deck but honestly they could make all the cards legal in exact print and it still probably wouldn't make a dent

I think the 50 cent category would be a hell of a lot better if it was 75 cents instead. Enough to make sure that you have a full extra deck and/or a sideboard can really give these decks the little extra bit of strenght they need to function.
