Dominating Mediterranean Trade But Not as Carthage | Imperator: Rome

In this Imperator: Rome video I decided to play a tall-ish campaign starting as a small but powerful tribe in the region of Africa. I managed to create an economy focused on exporting and my income soon rivaled that of Carthage. However, having just a good economy alone isn't enough to beat Carthage.

So Carthage normally attacks Massylia via a mission tree to become uncontested in Africa and Numidia, and to a lesser extent Mauritania. It’s also via that mission tree that the smaller tribe beside them automatically advanced from a tribe to a monarchy and a client state.

@@KingAlton9403 yeah playing a lot of imperator especially in the western Mediterranean region I’ve started to pick up on what mission trees the ai is currently doing and how that could affect my play style. Normally when I’m playing and need to keep an eye on Rome and where they want to expand.
Carthage usually goes after Sicily first before other missions but seems this run they went after Africa. They sometimes very rarely after Sicily go after Iberia and I found that out the hard way when suddenly while trying to unite Tartessos I noticed Carthage had a lot of claims.

That thing with stability can happen to you too. Not sure if AI can call you against a country you have a truce with, to be fair. But what can happen very easily is to be called against a country you have mil access through. And that's -40 stab iirc.
