I introduced my friend to eu4 because I thought he would enjoy it. He told me he was a long way in on his first run and confused on what to do next. He was playing as kamchadals and once he conquered the other minors he had sat for 100 years assuming other nations would spawn around him.
@Benwut Erm actually it's called a reply, a comment is when you leave a message under the video. In this case I left a message under my comment, a reply☝️🤓📋
The Chukchi are an interesting people. They were probably the most aggressive of their region. Fearless, too, described so at least, in face of Russian firearms. It’s said they were never ‘officially’ conquered, but signed treaties with the Russian state. They also had an interesting fella named Tenevil that invented them a script, though it never saw much use. The language is gorgeous and you should check out the folk song Nunligran.
I don't think Siberians are even close to the least played nations, their position is fairly unique (times 4) and super interesting. The small states around Ethiopia are probably way less played. I do wonder if PDX will ever release a coloured map of playing numbers for each nation, but I don't think these freezers would even be in the lower half of starting tags. (maybe Khodynt since they're inland)
Small Ethiopian States, Madagascar minors. Maybe some of Arabians like yas, and definitely there's gonna be Indians. Maybe also South East Asians, native oceananians and migratory muricans
Fun Facts about the eastern siberians (in game and irl): Chukchi and Chavchuveny are in the wrong provinces they should have been swapped Chavchuveny is only a subdivision of the Koryaks meaning something like 'rich with reindeer'. Reindeer were pretty important throughout Siberia These tribes were famous raiders and renowned warriors despite the inferior technology, the Chukchi lasted into the late 1700s and even beat the Russians once, as well as being feared by their neighbors. The Koryaks being related to the Chukchi also fought all their neighbors. In the 1700s there was a forge in Paren' used by the Koryaks (of which again Chavchuveny was a part of)
Early in my EU4 career (probably 8 or 9 years ago at this point) I followed a Chavchuveny playthrough that was recounted as an AAR on the subreddit. I don't think it was a particularly well-known player or anything, but it stuck in my brain, and I've had a soft spot for them ever since. I'm happy to see someone else take a stab at them a decade later. Would love to see a part 2! Hopefully the next session will be a little less monotonous for you.
Lol, I just finished a Chukchi game. I went exploration/expansion and built a colonial empire. Even managed to spawn colonialism and keep up in tech by farming mana points from showing strenght to the other tribes.
The EU IV AI is funny, one time as an all-cav Oirat I declared war on the Ottomans in late game and the mad-lads stacked 750k in a single mountain province and because I was sitting in a mountain province we just sat looking at each other as tick after tick the entire Ottoman manpower pool died of attrition within 6 months, 6 months for over 500k reserve manpower to dry out because three quarters of a million AI troops sat on a mountain eating rocks. The war wasn't difficult afterwards.
„you should immediatly vassalize it and build it back up for all the benefit and no cost. A form acquaintance of mine said that about the man she dated“ Man that is based
Yeah I had to double-take when I heard this, then replayed it a third time with captions enabled just to be sure what I was hearing... I cannot imagine what kind of things happened to said guys to where she thought they were "all the benefit with none of the cost," it reeks of preying on their desperation after big breakups or something...
Honestly, Laithe if I can give you any advice. I recommend talking about some of the history of the nations you play, maybe show some pictures, actually showcase what the flavor text says on their national ideas and the like? I will also admit leaving siberia immediatly to go over to europe felt really counter intuitive & going south to interact with stuff like mongolia, korea & japan makes more sense to me.
An Mp game where 4 people work as all 4 of them and work together or migrate together would be funny please consider it Laith. It's up there with colonizing America across the bering straits to be historically accurate.
I play Paradox games exclusively for immersive RP with my friend, and one of my all-time favorite experiences with this region was a Scotland-England co-op save we did where we created a 'United Kingdom' alliance consisting of me (England), him (Scotland), and then an Ireland we helped forge and ally with. I sought an English Empire that effectively consisted of all of Central and Southern Africa. English Africa was my biggest concern of that save, BUT, along the way I got a casus belli against Kamchadals and just decided to pursue it because, why not, adventure and profit! Annexed Kahmchadals, developed great cities in its land, converted it to Anglican, converted culture to English, and eventually created an English Anglican Kamchadals vassal. Little did I know, I had just created a monster, because this English Kamchadals went on to absorb its neighbors, colonized like half of Siberia on its own, and ended up somehow even stronger than Korea. The late game saw its navy becoming obnoxiously powerful, and they became very toxic towards me. Got away from that save with them as a subject still, but they were a real pain in the ass right to the end. Then we converted to Victoria 2, and VERY early on rebellion broke their connection to me, making them independent. English Kamchadals went on to conquer Finland and pretty much everything down towards Persia, and by the end of that save, in fact, started to chip away at the Russian Empire, coming I think two or three states away from Moscow. By the end of that save they became Fascist. One more convert to Hearts if Iron IV, me, my friend, and Japan had to finally put Kamchadals down, and it was absurdly difficult as they converted into HoI IV with an unexpected level of manpower and divisions. We wanted to just utilize our alliance with Japan to just take down Kamchadals right at their capital, but what actually ended up happening is they plowed over Russia and engaged us right in Poland. We ended up pretty much having to march from Poland all the way east to their original EUIV territory. Long story short: I will never forget how my little EUIV experiment with Kamchadals made for one of the most engaging string of saves I've ever played.
I recently completed a Chavchuveney game myself, which I then converted to VIC3. I took a different approach though; you see, that "force migration" CB? It allows for "Show Strength", the peace that gives you 100 of each monarch point. The other nations outside of your neighbors? They can't see you. I declared war after war, breaking truce after truce, racking up enough PowerPoint to dev myself institution's and be ahead on tech. Then I used expansion ideas to make my way west... and encountered the strongest Russia I have ever seen in the 1500's. I spent the rest of the game desperately trying to curb their influence. Fun game, very satisfying to fully dismantle them in VIC3, even if it took awhile due to population differences.
I have a friend that plays hoi4 and i was trying to get into eu4, they said they enjoyed it and i was like oh what did you play, he kamchadal. He hasnt touched it since
The funny thing is back in the day my very first campaign finished was with chuckchi because I was so bad at the game and after a few tries in europe and japan I just wanted a remote place to learn the game. And I didnt have any DLCs, i still had fun by colonising Alaska for myself

good video but my conspiracy theory is that laith recorded this whole thing with his mic on mute and most of the footage became useless but he didn't want to waste it so he did a well edited good voice over instead for a shorter video

I once played as one the Siberian tribes so I could get the Blood for the Sky God Achievement where you must be Tengrist and have Nahuatl as your syncretic faith
I would be tempted to say that thanks to an "exploit" by TheStudent that has you effectively trucebreak one of them nonstop for almost infinite monarch points, that these nations are actually surprisingly broken. However, the New Zealand tribes can do the exact same thing, aren't saddled with a huge institution debuff, have a nice naval policy that allows for conquistadors and explorers without taking Exploration, and don't start out right next to decently powerful tags and the strongest tag in 1444 either. They also have a better mission tree, estates, and slightly better ideas. If you're really good at snowballing and doing max cheese, than the Siberian Clan Council countries are not a bad pick. Otherwise, play one of the NZ tribes and make modern New Zealand by beating up your neighbors and making them feel bad.
I would love more of this, you know we all love a good cursed campaign. I do think you should at least mix some more live commentary in among the scripted stuff; the edited commentary is good but so are your usual live reactions.
If Burgundy forms the Netherlands while France still exists, all of their French region cores are automatically given to France. Judging by the size of that Netherlands, I'd assume Burgundy was pretty successful, and only lost territory because of that mechanic in the decision.

You could have gone into -stability for extra migration speed. (Or has that been changed?, it has been some time since I played as someone who can migrate)
