Great video. Have you looked into model 3 uberturbine wheels for the Y? There’s an entire thread about it on Tesla Motors Club forum. I ended up finding a nice used set of model 3 ubers and mounted them on my Y. They look great and have excellent ride quality since it’s a larger sidewall. I’m currently running the stock size 255/40 R20’s that came with my induction wheels but when it’s time for new tires I’m going to put 245/45 R20’s on.
i did this combo on my MYP last year, there was definitely range loss, and the handling got worse. Turning and cornering was significantly more stiff, i left it on for about 3 months and swapped it back to 255/275 , just felt so much better.
Since 2012, the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) has been a mandated safety feature in North America. As an extension of the ABS system, it uses wheel speed sensors in conjunction with specialized inputs from the Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) and Yaw Sensor to maintain vehicle stability during loss of directional control. ESP operates through autonomous braking, acceleration, and even steering corrections to prevent accidents. When tire size is altered, the resulting change in axle RPM disrupts the calibration of the entire system. The ECM can detect this discrepancy, often disabling the ESP system. Warning lights on the dashboard alert the driver that a critical, legally mandated safety feature-designed to save lives-is no longer active. At this point, the vehicle manufacturer has fulfilled its legal obligation and is effectively absolved of liability. Furthermore, the Department of Transportation (DOT) mandates that the tire information placard on the driver’s side door frame specify the OEM tire size and type approved during the vehicle’s safety testing. Deviating from these specifications transfers liability to the vehicle owner and installer, who must accept responsibility for any safety or performance issues caused by non-compliant modifications. Thank you for returning your vehicle to factory spec and making the roadway safer for everyone that shares it with you.
finally some on that actually doing work not just talking. great video i’m curious if i could fit 295/40’s 275/40’s on my 21 performance Y any thoughts ? trying to make this ride butter smooth with out downsizing the wheel
There weren't any 2024 MYP demo cars when I test drove the 2024 MYLR near Atlanta, Georgia on February 24, 2024. The sloppy road-holding characteristics of the MYLR (thought the thing was going to roll over during a quick left/right maneuver at only 40-ish MPH on a straight/level roadway) alone was more than enough to convince me to order an inventory MYP ($2,670 discount) four (4) days later, with FSD transfer from my 2023 M3P (bought used from Tesla in November last year) as a trade-in for the MYP without losing a dime! Also received the 10K-mile free Tesla supercharging when taking delivery on March 14, 2024. Man you could have bought a real 2024 MYP by the time you spend the extra bucks to mod your 2024 MYLR, my friend.
I traded up from my 7 month old (lol) MYLR 2023 to a new 2024 MYP. So much better body control and feel and even the steering and yes the brake feel somehow, are better. Noticeably. Nevermind the power and louder motor whine which I like. And looks … def better. And love the new stealth grey. And yeah for that same discount amount but also the free $1000 for the white interior (awesome combo) and those 10k credits and 10k supercharger miles included. And yes FSD transfer. And yes fed and state rebates at POS. There is simply ZERO logical alternate choices to get in the market than the MYP. Just killer. FYI something many LR owners don’t realize is their 19” so so at best Continental A/S tires have a tread wear of 400. The 21” Michelin pilot sport 4 A/S tires are not only notably better in grip, looks, and feel, but they also have a wear rating of 540. Bonus!
How is your range now!? Looking to do this for my LR and swapping my 19 Gemini with the 21 turbine. I get about 310 to 315 at 100% battery with the 19s. I’m just trying to see how much range loss will I see

Nice video, just what I was looking for. Thanks.
Nice!!
Great look! I have the same wheels and tries size combo installed today. Would love to get the MYP, but needed the 7 seater.
Yeah these tire sizes work great
Excellent video! Thanks for the perspectives. The edge covers look amazing.
Thanks for your positive comment!

I'll have to look into that option

So far we've loved this larger tire size
Maybe have to take new wheel alignment after changing to these tyres?

just bought a set for my 23 MYP, hoping its not so much more noise
Shouldn't be
I got Lexani on my Y too! I love the look 😅
Yeah they are a good bargain
How are they running with those tire brand?
@jjfern23 good I bought noise reduction kit under 100.00 like 3m foam strips throughout works well. I even tow a 16 foot boat
how is the sound on them? much louder than Michelin?
@bigbawsz2054 i bought noise reduction kit not to loud a little bumpy ride no biggie
finally some on that actually doing work not just talking. great video
i’m curious if i could fit 295/40’s
275/40’s
on my 21 performance Y
any thoughts ?

Thanks for the positive feedback! I don't think that tire size would work. It seems like I might be too tall.

The wheels and tires didn't cost me anything

You talk way too much.
I had them on my Bmw..Sidewalls suck..I hit a small pothole and blew both tires
Yeah that's why i went with a larger tire to help prevent rim damage
Lower the car a tad and you're golden! Like the rim protectors!!
Yeah, it needs to be lowered

Probably 10% range loss. Which for me isn't a big deal it's worth the enhanced look.
Did you get any abs lights ?
None
Does it matter if the wheels are directional? I have the turbine wheel covers that are directional. Nice video!
I'm not sure, Tesla states that even on the performance you should rotate them side to side so I don't think the direction makes a difference
Yes, 1000000% it matters
I have a model Y performance
And it’s 1 inch lower then the regular model Y.
The performance model handles like a go cart.
Nice
Can I update my geminis with 21 Uber turbine?
Yes that’s what I did
@@Myksgarage It looks like you have the 20 inch rims before
Is this the equivalent of putting an M decal on a 330i or nah?
It's just wheels, I'm not putting any badges on it
Where did you purchase tpms sensors?

Any rubing?
