I just built my first computer last week in this case! It was amazingly beginner friendly. I bought 4 extra fans for better airflow to help the beefy Dark Rock Elite cooling my 7800x3D. 3 in the front, one in the front bottom, two in the back top and the exhaust of course. it has great positive pressure..my 7900GRE does fine in it as well with the extra airflow directed at the bottom. I love itttttt so much!
I really appreciate how tall those feet are, it raises the case up from the floor to improve airflow so much, I wish all cases came with tall feet like that!
I have a Montech 95 case that I really like. I got it at Microcenter for $79.99. Room for technically 4 radiators. 2 240's, top 360, and back 120. And it is a mid tower with a curved front glass panel that carries the RGB lighting from the button area to the edge of the glass and looks REALLY nice. Has isolated rear chamber for power supply and 2 3.5" hard drives. I really like it so far. I have some stuff to buy still, but I would LOVE to make mine a maxed out super cooled system. Only bad part is getting a newer video card so I can get the right water block. LOL All it takes is money!
I got a Dark Base Pro 900 rev2 a couple of years ago, basically because it was the only case I could find that had both support for optical drives as well as front USB-C. It's a great case and BeQuiet had excellent support (the glass side panel shattered once and I got a replacement for free within days), but it definitely had a major flaw or two. Main ones are that the PSU shroud is an absolute pain to take off and put back on, and that there's just not enough room behind the motherboard tray for cable management. It's probably alright if you don't have many drives and stuff, but with drives it's just not wide enough.
@@jweavis and i got a 1660ti in my laptop 🥲if i had the money\skill to bend glass pipes...forget the performance increase.... we dont build gaming PCs to play games. we build them to look at
Ever since I've built my own PC, I've become a fan of be quiet products. I'm definitely getting one of their cases when I decide to swap out my current one in the future.
My case is a be quiet and i love it, however i can never shake the feeling that for how huge they look and how much space they claim in your desk they are a bit claustrophobic on the inside. Might be just me though and judging purely from a pre-built angle.
This Case is build for the RTX 5090. RTX 4090 is back to full size PCI Card size of 312mm (and then some 20mm). This Case is build for Graphicards with 430 ! mm in mind. I have the first Be Quiet Case (silent Base 800) and it can fit a Tripple Slot Card with 400mm, when i reduce my 3.5" capacity from 7 to 4. For a RTX 4090 i would need to reduce further to 3 but it would fit.A Case from 2014.
80 & 90 series cards are a useless waste of money if you are just playing games. Don't let the inaccurate hype tear your wallet apart. Just gamers will never benefit from more than a 70 series, cost to performance it's always the sweet spot.
Personally, I think how Jay does ad's is how they should be done. He makes them funny and something you want to sit through. Unlike commercially made ad's that are lame, annoying and have too much garbage in them.
World of Warships was good back in the days of the Closed Alpha. These days its garbage. CV Rework, Superships and Submarines ruined it for me. I un-installed over 6 months ago. Had enough of the unbalance.
They sent me this case a few weeks ago & I absolutely agree that its an amazing case.... HOWEVER it is massive & definitely aimed at people looking to do custom loops with water/liquid cooling. The sounds proofing is really neat, I thought they were thermal pads at first when I unboxed it, then I remembered its "BeQuiet" lol
Have always had a good experience with Bequiet stuff.... have turned into one of my go to brands for alot of things over the years..... originally started with their silent base 801 and still use it as a server case now after updating to the dark base pro 901..... their aftersales support was good too..... when they updated the silent base 801 to the 802... the new 802 came with an optional mesh front panel..... was able to buy one directly from them to give my old 801 some better air flow
meanwhile i'm over here, perfectly content with my $35 (US) case. has great airflow, the "archaic" drive bays i need/want, and hard drive cage (in which i have 5TB on top of my 256GB NVMe SSD drive) . But if people out there want a case like this, good for them. I currently have my PC on the left and i see it just fine. however, being able to reverse the case so i could turn it 90º and still see it would make the wires reach easier. --Fractal Designs Focus G (white) if anyone is interested. I have this case for my new system. I love it. I have a 360 aio up top cooling a 7700xt with a 7900xtx. Tons of room to spare, neither has gone much over 60c.
it's very nice to have an option for 2.5 and 3.5 inch drives. i still have one of each and it's like, if you have it you may as well use it, because no one buys used storage and also you can store movies, photos and videos, which is exactly what i use it for and the 2.5 inch is for linux.
I use 2 12gb 3 1/2in drives. One is mass storage for all my raw footage. The other is a backup copy of said data. Then I have another 12gb USB connected 3 1/2in external drive as a backup of my backup. I then unplug it when I backup all my new footage from when I take my filming trips and then keep it at a friends house just in case of something happening to the PC. 3 1/2in drives are WAAYY cheaper than any SSD or NVME when you get into that big of storage drive.
I personally like the phanteks cases, I get solid airflow and even though I have cats wandering around it does a great job of keeping everything filtered without blocking too much. Plus even though it has an rgb strip along the bottom it’s fairly minimal so it’s able to compliment the rest of my build without overpowering it
@@malphadour I agree. My only issue with Phanteks is that whilst the excellent P500A was only £85, its successor, the almost identical G500A is almost double that. @@Fighter4Street it's pretty quiet! Those massive front fans shift a ton of air at low speed. Got mine set to a static 650rpm, can barely hear them. I did that build I mentioned above and the guy is super happy with it. I haven't changed the fan speeds for him yet (it's one of my housemates who wants to do Blender stuff). I asked him if he wants me to set the fan speeds curves for him and he said "nah it's fine, it only spins up now and again then it's pretty silent the rest of the time"

The downside of this and earlier cases, you have to mount the radiator behind the rails, so if you have a 6cm rad, you lose all that space, and that can affect the choice of your GPU. My MSI RX6750XT trio, just fits in the case. Also on the side, there isn't enough room to place a pump/ reservoir combo. So I had to use a 120mm reservoir on the back. I don't think this case is made for a custom water loop. I have the pure base FX case. But beside the downsides, this is a great case to work on. Ow, it seems they learned, the side bracket is a lot bigger. So it's only the older cases.
honestly love the inverted design since heat travels up it will no longer be flowing back into the gpu fans but instead be instantly pushed out of the case
Jay, you should recommend they put a cutout on the side panel to vent the GPU, or offer a metal side panel instead of glass with a cutout...That would be really awesome when using a riser...
Perfect timing! I was just looking at this case for my next build. It's coming down to Dark Base 701, Fractal North XL, or NZXT H6 Flow. Leaning towards be quiet though.
I bought the Lain Li Dynamic Evo last summer because of its ability to flip around the motherboard. The left side of my desk has more room and better air quality than the right side. It took me a while to get used to everything being upside down, but I like how it turned out. I wish more cases could flip the motherboard tray upside down.
I took an old Antec case and made it truly modular so that I could remove the motherboard tray and reverse it without it being inverted. That took some thinking and a lot of cutting.
The size of a case has always been at the forefront of my mind, as I have big hands, and there's more sharp edges for my hands to be against during assembly, diagnosis and repair/replacement of parts in smaller cases. Its why I have a Fractal Design R6, and the other reason I bought it is the modularity of it.
Tip: Static electricity is often due to the climatiser drying the air too much when it's cooled. Adding a humidifyer in the room can help a lot with that. 😉
They'll have to tear my 3.5-inch storage drive from my cold, dead hands. I always have a huge HDD to store my work and hobby files as well as drivers, program installers, game mods etc.
This looks perfect. I finally have an alternative to the o11 evo for a future build. My wife and i play at the same long desk (3 metres or 10 feet) and for a future build i wanted us to have matching cases where they face each other. Now we arent limited to the o11 evo.
Lancool 3 has existed for a long time now which feels really similiar to this case. Well except the modularity of taking the whole motherboard frame out.
The fan thing is completely valid. Especially when you have companies like fractal out there fully populating all the essential spots with really great fans included in the price.
The 901 is also invertible I did so to mines and its great especially with the Qi charger and all the other features that the 901 comes with especially with most case manufactures not including a 5.25 bay I also managed to fit my Corsair H170i into the top rad position of the 901
The options for the Harddrives are nice. 4 NVME (1x500GB, 3x2TB), 2 SATA SSDs (2x4TB) and 2 HDDs (1x1TB very old, 1x4TB) are in my system right now and the only thing I'll do with the SATA SSDs and HDDs is to upgrade their Storage size.
Yeah, I've been using exclusively nvme drives for at least the last two or three desktops, they really are that much better, and now they're as affordable as they've ever been.
They should offer mirrored version of that removable MB-thingie as an option. That way you would have the "normal" look/orientation of everything, but just on the left side.
16:37 "Why are are cases always designed to go on the right?" 21:11 That's why. Because motherboards are designed, and have always been designed since tower cases were a thing, to mount on the Right wall of the tower case.
Motherboards can be turned upside down, though. As we see with the new case from the same company, the Light Base 600/900. And the Lian Li 011d. There's nothing stopping a case manufacturer from building a left sided case.
Funny Jay mentioned about a solid side panel. I am one of those who don't like the glass side panels at all. I got a Fractal Torrent because they offered a two side solid panel. The inverted looks awesome though, I use one of my old G5 cases as a PC case so i was use to seeing it the other way around, haha.
Inverted layouts should be more common. It pretty much guarantees that your AIO pump won't be at the top of the loop, unless you're really trying for that and install the rad on the bottom.
Thank god that this October be Quite! brings the Light Base cases where you no longer have to invert the MB tray and instead invert the whole case by just remounting the feet
Depends, did they change the sizing again?? my old cooler master storm styker was a "full size atx case" yet my current cooler master 500m is labeled as a "mid size atx case" even though they're basically the same size
I almost got a Dark base 802. All the features Be quiet offers make their cases worth the money. The problem was I fell in love with the 5000D. I also plan to build a older build in a cooler master HAF XB evo or a HAF XM if I can ever get my hands on one. Maybe even in a Inwin D-frame. I know I have a problem, but I just like cases.
This case is £230 in the UK. Add £60 for 2 more silent wings fans and it's a £300 case. Looking at how half those 140 fans are half blocked by the rails at the front and top and the cable management doesn't look so good at the back I'm wondering why you'd ever get this over something like the Lian Li 216 at 1/3rd of the price??
even though the design of the guts of the BeQuiet case are clearly different, I think the Corsair cases (from the outside at least) share some of the same design components. I have a 7000D and *the way things fit together* between that and this BeQuiet unit are very similar. Even the manuals are laid out and colourised similarly.
there's also left-hand cases that mount the motherboard with the I/O facing up, meaning all the cable plug at the top, and those, i still think are the one's that look best on a lefty setup
Your video on the 901 was the reason I bought it. And the biggest reason I got it was for the ROM drive bay. I really like the 901 and this case seems to share some of the same functionality. The quality of the case with the thick glass and the thick metal. I think the shipping weight of the 901 was around 50LBS. lol In my day, heavy meant quality. I also went with all BeQuiet stuff like the CPU cooler and the PSU.
It’s a very nice and practical case used it in lots of builds it’s very popular. It’s not really expensive IMO I have had case orders 3x that price. It’s not 200$ in the uk it’s 145£ The space vertical mount is more than adequate.
The $300 CAD price for this BeQuiet is nuts for what you get. At that price it should be filled with all front and top fans. You can get nicer cases for 65% to 50% the price from Lian Li, NZXT, etc.
I like that they have a 3-slot vertical mount option. I do not like that because of its location you cannot use an off-the-shelf riser cable unless you want it to be floating or you have a 3d printer and know how to design 3d prints. And either they haven't launched the riser cable yet or stock is really hard to come buy because I haven't been able to find it anywhere in stock. I love vertical-mounted GPUs with a water block. I just think it fills the space nicely.
Man this case is beautiful, would love to have it since im sitting with an old Fractal design Focus G 😂.but im too broke to be able to afford a better case but its been working for YEARS so atleast theres that :)
One suggestion I have for that vent for the PSU shroud is to put a funnel on it with the directional ventilation. I have three fans in the front of my phanteks P609S and it annoys me that so much of the air for the bottom fan is getting blown at my PSU which is a waste of air that could be directed to my gpu. If I had a directional funnel for that fan but I would buy that a bit more towards the middle of the GPU where the cool is needed most.
It's not like we need to see how it affects performance, but I was really expecting to see a build on this case to see how it looks when inverted and how it is to install components in an inverted case.
I'm on my second be quiet! case. picked up the 500 FX this time around because it came with 4x Light Wings PWM fans - 3x 120mm, 1x 140mm. got it for a great price - $129 - and paired it with a Pure Loop 2 FX 240mm AIO for a total of six fans. processor rarely goes above 70c, and I can't hear a dang thing. Do agree though, it would be nice if there was a metal panel I could buy for it. I checked with their Support Team and they don't make a compatible metal panel to replace the glass.

LOL who wants to see Jay build inverse with this case I would love to be entertained by that
Yeah, I've been using exclusively nvme drives for at least the last two or three desktops, they really are that much better, and now they're as affordable as they've ever been.
They should offer mirrored version of that removable MB-thingie as an option.
That way you would have the "normal" look/orientation of everything, but just on the left side.
This is very close to the meshify s2, which i now have 4 builds through. Best case made and this looks to be similar in form and function.
16:37 "Why are are cases always designed to go on the right?"
21:11 That's why.
The standard motherboard layout was established long before anyone used tower cases.
The grill is for the bottom mounted fan. It essentially gives you 4 front intake fans.
Inverted layouts should be more common. It pretty much guarantees that your AIO pump won't be at the top of the loop, unless you're really trying for that and install the rad on the bottom.
I know there are so many reviews of the case already, but I would like Jay to review the Mood. He’s the only reviewer I trust tbh.
Great unboxing/review, I'm interested in getting the 901, I just wish they had a no-glass version.
I just want modern, sound dampened caees without RGB or glass in them.
Do it Jay, do an inverse build in this case. Southpaws unite!
Good answer for modular cases moving forward magnetic logos.
even though the design of the guts of the BeQuiet case are clearly different, I think the Corsair cases (from the outside at least) share some of the same design components. I have a 7000D and *the way things fit together* between that and this BeQuiet unit are very similar. Even the manuals are laid out and colourised similarly.
Bequiet have some of the most underrated cases on the market
Danke für die tollen Videos🧡
there's also left-hand cases that mount the motherboard with the I/O facing up, meaning all the cable plug at the top, and those, i still think are the one's that look best on a lefty setup
Would love to see more inverted case reviews for those of us who can only have the tower on the left.
It’s not 200$ in the uk it’s 145£ The space vertical mount is more than adequate.
here's the "Dark" Base 901 in WHITE.... *scratches head.
The $300 CAD price for this BeQuiet is nuts for what you get. At that price it should be filled with all front and top fans. You can get nicer cases for 65% to 50% the price from Lian Li, NZXT, etc.
We need a "Phil to Scale" next to the case as Jay makes the case look smaller than it actually is.
Been using my Dark Base Pro 900 since 2016
Apart from the mobo tray this case reminds me a lot of the Phanteks P600.
Build in it jay! For the left side of a desk!
Nice to see white cables with the white case.
symmetrical case with reversible tray is GENIUS...i want the case to my left
AWESOME case
All I like to have on the case is the inside motherboard tray for a Lay Down PC Case.
do love be Quiet, their air coolers are fantastic and of course amazing fans, I've wanted Be Quiet to make a SFF case for yeeaaars. :(
The R.ATX ability is why I have the Silent Base 801
Montana, my 1st X-class ship, but I sail with Ohio now.
Jay, try touching it with a dryer sheet and see if that takes the static away lol.
I've used an inverted case for a long time. The motherboards have the I/O on the left side (obviously). lol
I would really like to see a comparison of the temps with this case in normal and inverted mode. Also, to see an inverted build in general.
Wish it were just a little smaller and more importantly had a solid side panel option
When the GPU has become curved from sag in the normal orientation, invert your setup and make gravity un-curve it.
Looks a lot like Lancool 3, the front IO is really similiar.
If you put the left side against the wall, just put the glass there xD
Hey Jay, when are you guys going to do a build vid with the Dark Base Pro 901? I would love to see a water cooled build in one as i have one now and would love to get some inspiration! You guys rock!!!
