Yes, this. With Steve and his crew you get extreme detail and meticulously collected and distilled data, but have to sit through a 30 minute video full of information and complex charts and graphs. When you really want to get that kind of data there's no substitute to GN. With Jay it's more like hanging out and building a new PC or figuring out some hardware issue on a Friday night with your best friend who happens to be a hugely experienced PC nerd and just having a great time.

Imo. Jay’s content stagnated a bit for me since so many YT personalities are sharing the same info with similar benchmarks to the point of redundancy. Thats where niche elements come in.

Jay, I hope this doesn't come across in a bad way... your videos and content fill a certain space for me and Steve's fills a different space. One cannot replace the other... your approach is home/homelab facing and gives ideas for building and maintaining systems while evaluating product with a consumer focus. For me that is necessary and greatly appreciated. To be honest watching you make mistakes, you don't do that often, reassures me that this is a complex hobby. Steve's approach/content on the other end drills deeply, sometimes more than I can ingest in a single setting, into the engineering aspects of the products and development as well as the consumer protections that are necessary. Looking forward to 2025 content from both of you!!! Keep doing you and stay healthy!

Honestly, I very much appreciate Jay's more laid back style of content. That's not a criticism of GN (or Jay) in any way, quite the opposite. Both channels have helped me make informed tech purchases over the years, which is especially relevant since I live on a country where sometimes even mid-end electronics can cost the price of a freaking car.
When there's a new product release I come to GN to hear all the specs and the minutiae beyond the BS the manufacturer claims. Then I come to Jay to know how much trouble I'll have actually installing and running the part.

I can agree with your comment.
Honestly with Gamers Nexus is that when I am hearing impaired with Cochlear implants (Nucleus 7 model) on both sides and using ReSound PhoneClip+ over BlueTooth for direct streaming from PC through this adapter to my Cochlea implants, it can be tiring and overloaded for my head to hear Steve talking in one without pause and with so much information and unnecessary swearing words that could have been done more in professional way as shown in NZXT Flex program exposed video.
The difference with the lawyer interview about the contract part is huge that is better, easier and more professional way to talk, get information and be understandable.
That's why I stay away from this channel too much.
Of course I don't follow much Gamers Nexus, just few times and based much on this video mentioned above, but I like JayzTwoCents and LTT (only too much sponsor parts and much on US-only stores breaks their videos) better this way of talking.
My opinion is just what from I experience when I see on their style of videos.

I've seen some comments to this degree, and I think it's true, when I want hard numbers I usually go to GN, when I want super niche or weird stuff I hit LTT, and when I want what the experience would be like for me, I hit here. Or if I want what feels like a more positive voice I hit here. To me your strength has always been what feels like a more condensed passion for gaming, and so when you're feeling a bit disappointed or hurt by it, that affects me more than GN finding another hardware defect.
I also think your experience of 'this is what happened to us, and this is how I fixed it' is so useful. It's really helped me work on some of my own stuff. Like 'our numbers were way lower than what we expected or others were getting' 'oh I had to revert to this bios and change this setting' and that's all really handy, and relatable. I think that's the term I'd best use for your content, relatable. You get frustrated at the same things I would, you make the same mistakes -I- would, and so those are things I can look out for. More data and numbers are definitely good, but I really hope you don't change at least the format of your content much.
Also if I got a dream job and got to work with one of the big youtubers yours would be the one I'd want to most, because I feel like the main point of your channel is to condense it down to 'this is what excited enthusiast needs/wants to know.' It's taking techspeak and specs and translating it to laymen's terms.

I've been a Software QA Engineer for almost 15 years now and I regularly explain my job as "I break things for a living." QA can be amazing, it can also be very stressful - it's all about the culture of Eng vs QA. Sometimes you get amazing engineering teams who really value QA and nothing feels better than having an Eng come over, ask about the bug to get short context beyond the formal write up, then go "awesome, keep it up!" Most Engineers will have an almost adversarial view of QA, but when you get those rare cultures that value QA, this job becomes one of the most enjoyable things. Cheers!

I think your "not spending the next 4 hours" is like me at home who can't do that but expects a product to work. But the fact that you come back with your next level of discovery is one of the reasons people come to your channel. That's not what Steve was referring to with the 4 hour bit. He meant it in regards to specifically information, in order to be more accurate in a video. Jay makes a lot of incorrect statements on his channel when it comes to basic info. It has nothing to do with hoping hardware works out of the box, bad products, builds, or anything like that. That's a completely different issue. He's not saying to change his review style, just his review accuracy. Jay isn't you at home. He's a RUclipsr that also happens to be you at home. He's speaking strictly in a manner for making RUclips videos (from one YT'er to another YT'er) and how much headache it'd save Jay and his team in corrections, apologies, you name it, just to spend a little more time actually looking into the information he's talking about.

Love this :) In my work we have structured shift "Turn Overs" - a one page form that gets filled in near the end of each shift so the next shift knows what was done on the past shift and if any problems popped up. Keeping those in a project-binder or something gives an easy to digest history of work / testing done. Combine that with an SOP and you'll be able to identify any issues much more easily.
The SOP can have sample checklists in it, something super simple like: (test-game "A") Ran OK ✅ FPS: (xxx), Test Failed ✅ What happened: (blue-screened or game froze...). This way you know what to run next and what issues may need a deeper dive.
I love both of your channels for different reasons :) You guys do great work and I appreciate the honesty, integrity, and passion. It’s such a huge field, the realm of data required for case reviews is so distinct from cooler reviews, motherboard reviews, graphics reviews… you could easily sink millions into developing test methodology and capability for these things. I think, for my part, the best thing to do would be to choose a few domains you want to dive deeper into and really work on developing robust methodologies in those arenas. For the others? 8:30 Thats one thing I'm very grateful to my teachers in programming, they taught us how to look for the solution instead of teaching us the solution. On exams they would actually give us the ability to google how to do things, look at forums etc. At the end of the class then she would place everyone in front of the projector and we would explain the solutions we found, then she should show us her own solution. Honestly my best skill right now.

Ugh, I hate this automatic title and description translation "feature" on youtube. For me, being in germany, the title of this video says "GN-Vorstellungsgespräch" which translates to "GN application" as in "job applications". Sadly, RUclips's only response to complaints on other social media about it is "Use the feedback button". Guess what, RUclips: I did that many times, proposing a viewer-side option for translations. Hasn't happened yet. Some people online say it helps to change the Google account location. Really? Trade one translation target language for another? Thanks, but no thanks. Gladly, RUclips hasn't forced the audio translation on me yet, neither on this channel nor anywhere else (Don't get any ideas, RUclips).

I feel you do a great job, and anyone who is good at their profession will invite open critique and grow their position. You mentioned the concept of "catering" to 2 million... You've got a great style of sharing your content and providing your finds, but I would only change what you see needs changed, not anyone else. I'm not sure what your goals are Jay, but you do well. I hadnt built a rig in a very long time... over 15 years which was grinding at me. Couple years back I built an AM5 build that was a ton of fun. At the time, I spent just over 3k which was 1k over budget, but I dont regret a single element of the build. Your info led me on some solid discoveries.
All in all, you'll fine tune it down, man. Keep on tweaking... the work, not meth ⚠️ and have fun with the process. I check in every now and then because your channel left a positive impact.
    Good luck brother!

10:11 as a software test engineer I can 100% agree with that statement. Nothing more fun than breaking something, reproducing it and then passing it on to the dev with a note "good luck fixing this 😁 Oh and don't make any of the automated tests I wrote fail in the process 👀". Good times.

GN's spectacular transparency and policies grant me that. You're my go to when Ive had a long day at work and I wanna smoke up kick back and watch some tech content, I dont like LTT and nobody else does the entertainment side as well as you IMO.

Always great to talk and learn from others, but I'd hate for our favourite (cdn, eh?) creators to start being the same... that being said, it's wonderful for conversations like this to happen, AND for us to listen to them. Jay - you keep doing your thing... Steve - you keep doing your thing... we watch you both for what each of you adds to the conversation and this community.

Jay, I enjoy GN, Linus, and your programming each as their own. I enjoy the contrast between each program. Sometimes I can see where each one contradict each other from time to time; and times when each agrees. I like how each one doesn’t take the same path in their reviews so those of us that watch multiple reviews, can feel we get a more complete idea. I feel GN is like watching news(factual), Linus feels like an infomercial (which works), and when it comes to your show I’ve always felt like it was a couple of guys just having a conversation ( like hey look what I've found). Please keep your style as much as possible as you grow. Also as a car guy myself, I appreciate how you fit in the comparisons. Love the show and cant wait to see the updated format.

One of my favorite things about TechTube is collaboration among various creators. Another is that they all have a different approach to making content. Jay, please don't make enormous changes to what you do. The GN team is unique in its investigative journalism approach; if everyone did that, our heads would explode. The team there seems to have the same job I frequently had before I retired: help the boss look like Superman. Of course, that's only gonna happen if the boss already pretty much knows how to do that. So true about college. As a holder of five college degrees, I can say without hesitation that my degrees have opened doors, but it's what I can actually do that has allowed me to step over those thresholds.

My feedback would be to do more collaboration between you "tech tubers", to be more specific about what kind of collabs perhaps a "post X product launch".
I am thinking that I see a lack of post release benchmark talks and discussions between you tech tubers after the initial couple of benchmarks, when a new product gets released.
The format could perhaps be a podcast like discussion, a panel talk with a moderator or perhaps just like this video, although *please add cosy coffee, tea, snacks* or whatever to which ever formats you pick, it should be an enjoyable nerd talk about the good stuff, about what could have been better and just wind down and celebrate tech after the hectic initial benchmarks

One of the nice things about the J2C is the reviews are fairly high level, "out of the box" with out being overwhelming. J2C is often just "fun" to watch as you guys goof on each other, and hit the high points. GN on the other hand is the hard hitting, data driven, eyes glossing over because you've been in a 2 hr meeting. Both have their place. Thank you for sharing this. Love both channels.
