Hey a suggestion as I like the idea of the smoke test to show off a case's ventilation: Please put in a GPU, whether faux or real, with its own fans running. Because of how big a 3090/4090 is and how restrictive some cases are when it comes to card orientation, I'd have a much better understanding of what a case is capable of when fully loaded.

@@Flipstips Liquid cooled systems even out with Air cooling systems. The difference is slight improvement in Liquid based setups till it reaches saturation point. Then it's just an over glorified and horribly priced Air cooler. Air is easier and faster to determine your cooling limits, also far quieter than 4 fans trying force air through a Radiator. Also, Water based systems need to idle down before turning off due to waters slow dissipation of heat. The best bonus is if something goes wrong it's super easy to change out parts in a Air set up. But I hear electricity loves water so have fun!

note that JayZ is wrong here on this point, a positive airflow is indeed good for DUST reasons, but for TEMP reasons it is BAD.
why? because exceeding airflow is gonna vortex inside the case in every corner and etc, all places aside from the main air stream, which will accumulate hot air inside the case (real world comparison: cold winter, people wearing multiple layers of clothing are going into a very warm shop and start sweating, but there is only 1 cashier)
to achieve the best temperatures, u have to make intake and exhaust exactly the same (which is nearly impossible, coz meshes and filters reduce intake and u wont know how much exactly), or simply make exhaust stronger than intake, in this case ur exhaust fans will take the air from every spot possible, ensuring constant air refreshing, u dont want hot air to vortex and stay inside the case.
and honestly, dust is not a real problem if u have filters, i clean my pc twice a year and every time i barely see any dust, but i personally tested all this stuff for myself 3 years ago using 5 fans with different in-out setups and all those variants with 3 or more exhausts gave me the best temps after playing the same game for 20 mins.

    • @triliner254
      @triliner254 7 месяцев назад

There are posts on web forums and reddit with examples of a fan on the rear, facing the VRM. It dropped their VRM temp 10c to 30c (maybe 40c IIRC). One guy even made his own copper waterblock for that area.
Stable voltage ceiling was raised for overclocks, but the lower temp on capacitors, and to a lesser degree, the surrounding components, directly translates to a longer board life.
Probobly all depends on the number of Phases, if it has a VRM heatsink, and if you're using a cpu waterblock.

    *Important point...*
I've done extensive TESTING for what's optimal in terms of NOISE. What I've found is there's rapidly DIMINISHING returns in the value of the added INTAKE air. For example, I normalized all fans except the front, 120mm Noctua case fans and with a set load and temperature, I found raising the intake fans from 600RPM to 1000RPM made maybe 1degC difference. Obviously it's going to vary a lot by case, load etc but the RULE OF THUMB is that cooling matters most AT THE SOURCE of the heat to be removed and rapidly drops off as you get further away from that. So good copper, then good heatsink, then good CPU fan.... then case fans (you want them ALL but the benefit of what you're doing rapidly drops off further away. Pulling in a lot more air doesn't actually help that much if everything else isn't sorted, and it's all arguably POINTLESS if you don't even need that level of cooling.)...
Anyway, I "only" have an RTX4070 rig currently but the three, NOCTUA case fans at 300RPM are plenty for my cooling needs. I'm a bit annoyed though that the Asus RTX4070 Dual OC minimum fan speed is 1000RPM because I can hear that. Okay, the minimum is ZERO RPM but the fans won't turn on when they are inaudible. At 55degC they kick in at 1000RPM and while the sound pressure noise is low there's an annoying quality to the sound. And there's NO way to change that aside from modding the card (which still wouldn't change that 1000RPM but the fans could be quieter)... I'm probably going to MOD the card with these fans:
    2x Noctua NF-A9x14 HS-PWM chromax
(AFAIK, a Noctua LNA won't drop the RPM in a situation like this. You'll drop the voltage to maybe 9V or whatever, but the fan reports its RPM so I believe the card would just increase the Duty Cycle. So it's a feedback loop. You're only dropping the RPM, AFAIK, for situations where the fan would be at maximum RPM. So 2200RPM at 12V (100% Duty Cycle) maybe drops to 1500RPM at 9V (100% Duty Cycle). Mostly useless for gaming PC's, although I did use them to reduce the brief spike in fan speed when I turn the computer on before the fan control kicks in.)
I'd also need a custom fan cable that comes from the UK.
(My GTX1080 Noctua made came out really great. I did have to run one of the fans to a MOTHERBOARD fan header because the change in power caused coil whine. I did that, and then let the card control one of the fans and the 2nd fan I used the "FAN CONTROL" software to control and it used the GTX1080's GPU reported temperature anyway so it turned out great! Never heard the fans AT ALL when gaming usually even with my speakers off.)

Just recieved mine last week, non RGB version and more than impressed. Really nice layout, easy to build in and cable management is a doddle. Airflow with the side fans is very impressive. Have a 360mm AIO in the top, both 140's in the bottom and 3 120's fans in the side and cools my 4090 and 13700K without any issues and quietly...Very good design and at GBP 99 or $109 it is a steal...

I love my 011 Dynamic XL and will likely continue to use the same case basically forever, but this one does seem like it's worth considering if you wanted a smaller case with similarly high air flow and also with decent room to work with on the inside.

I made a pc recently for my 16 year old nephew using this case (He saved up all his money through his after school job and cuts grass, and cleans cars for people in the local area) and just bought the parts but didn't want to build it, so I sat with him and guided him through it all. Uses all noctua fans though. Even though, really, it doesn't need an exhaust fan on the back, I put one there because I just don't like not having a fan there. Has a mag b650 tomahawk MB iirc with a 7800x3d (I did -30 undervolting for steady performance and lower heat output) )and a 4070 iirc, some where in that bracket of cards. 32 gb 6000 mhz ram and he opted for a peerless assassin 120 SE cooler. He spray painted the plastic, and metal, parts of the case tan and brown for the Noctua aesthetic (pre-building it). Suffice to say the PC runs like a dream and the airflow is fantastic. CPU idles around 30c and under load roughly around the 60 mark. He is in love with it and I am rather envious as I have a sort of similar build but on AM4 with a 5800x3d.

I like mine, but word to the wise... If you're planning to use fans in the front that AREN'T NZXT fans, some won't fit. My Lian Li Infinity fans don't fit in there, I have them kinda wedged in; so it works... however, I don't know if I'll ever get them back out without breaking them. So, they live in there now. My only other "negative" about this case is that you can ONLY mount 140s in the bottom. There are no off-set mounting points for 120mm fans at all. Other than that, it fits better on my desk than my o11 did. AND, since this was originally an NZXT themed build, I was able to find an affordable case that actually fit my 7900xt Hellhound. The H7 Flow and others that have that stupid "beauty" panel in the mddle prevented me from being able to fully seat my GPU... So, I went back to the o11, until I saw this beauty! I like it, and I think a lot of people are going to like it as well. I do NOT, however, see a lot of potential for custom water cooling unless EK or someone else creates a distro that would replace the front glass.

I have a Corsair Carbide Series Air 740. It was a bit more pricey than this and I bought it back in 2016 I think because of the Dual-Chamber and Airflow design. Still using it to this day, but have swapped out nearly every part over time. The Airflow is just simply amazing and wish I could recommend it, but it's not available anymore. It's great there is a similar design to that now, but in a little bit smaller form factor than the Corsair! Great review.
