This isn't my scene, so I thought I watch for a minute or two, but I was glued to the screen to the end. The number of disciplines involved in making this, a single individual, I can't comprehend how brilliant some people are. I really enjoyed this, thanks.
Amazing job! Don't beat yourself up over the small stuff. The monitor turning is totally a bonus and not necessary at all. This is so cute and adorable and really bring you back to the way computers were in the 90's.
The amount of joy I am getting from seeing this work in action is astronomical. No joke, if you were to make these for sale, I would be front & center ready to buy one.
Every time I opened a PC case from the ’90s, it was like signing a blood pact! Those things were covered in so many sharp edges, especially the removable cut-outs! I swear, if you didn’t walk away with at least one cut and a new set of dried blood fingerprints, were you even really building a PC?
Without a doubt, the best video I've ever seen on RUclips. Your commitment to excellence is inspiring. Perfect video, advertisement and build I've seen.
it's amazing to me that in the short span of 2-3 decades we go from this piece of tech bein cutting edge, to a hobbyist buildin a miniature version for fun & it's likely more powerful too
I just found your channel through Instructables, and I have to say this was beyond outstanding from start to finish! Thanks for the great mini PC project !
Man you've got a downright gorgeous workspace, that's the only way to describe it. It was nice to see someone using resin for parts like these. You just can't get that level of detail with a normal printer.
I've always wished there was a company that still made CRTs, but with modern technology, and you've absolutely nailed it! Is there any chance you could create a full-sized CRT monitor, maybe 15 or 17 inches? That would be incredible! Since older CRTs are becoming fragile with failing capacitors and other malfunctions, having a brand-new life-sized CRT with today’s tech would be amazing. I'd gladly pay good money for it! Do you think the market is too small for companies to turn this into a viable business?
Great project! Tbh the only real flaw I can see is going with a Windows XP-styled skin for a PC with that kind of design - that's a Windows 2000 machine at most, though W98 would be just as fitting. XP era Dells were more often black and much more rounded and stylized in their designs IIRC. Now, this might be on the "going a bit too far" side, but once you're making your own SD card reader PCB, why not make a 3D printed floppy disk microSD card holder that fits into a suitable slot, where the card interfaces with a reader? Or a CD-rom tray you can pull out that holds the card? This would of course require a lot of careful design, plus probably disassembling an SD reader to get the pins without the housing, but it would be incredibly cool. Still, even as it is now, 10/10 project, super well done!
That's incredible! The screen looks a lot like (and probably is the same as) the 720x720 4" display in my PowKiddy RGB30 handheld games console. It's great for playing horizontal and vertical oriented arcade games. Didn't realise you could buy it separately, so thanks for that. Come to think of it, the speakers look the same too.
Abso, fuk'n. epic. Your attention to detail, candor/transparency, and production quality of your content earned an enthusiastic subscriber and I can't wait to check out your other vids. Thanks for sharing, what an awesome project!
0:1916:38 Super fast build mode! Damn, I expected some quick and dirty "click bait worthy" content. And, oh boy am I glad to be wrong! You worked a lot, and really have a passion for details, it's awesome! The end result is awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful work with us all.
It was Beautiful, man. I really feels the 90’s vibe in every single piece that you’ve projected all by yourself, and most important thing, all that parts of the project were made with attention in details, even the pronounced parts of texture and the tiny water decals, remembering me in, and I believe, everyone here was delighted by the charming and nostalgic idea. It’s amazing. Greetings from Brazil.
OMG! This is AWESOME! Well done! If you plan on selling these I MUST have one. I learned to code basic on these so I have a deep love for these machines. Thanks for making this vid and sharing your build! ❤️❤️
The work you put into this project plus the great editing and camera work are top-notch! The monitor wobble is definitely a real-life thing, so that's actually a "happy little accident." Great video. Subbed for sure so I don't miss out on your other projects!
Amazing attention to detail, just beautiful. All the old school games i used to play back in the late 90's! Couldn't get Golden Axe to play on my crappy computer running Windows 3.1. My mum didnt want to get Windows 95, cause she had learned on 3.1 and was worried she wouldn't be able to use 95.
This is somewhere between astonishing and fantastic. To say that you're cool means to say nothing at all! It's like... I mean.... man I'm totally overwhelmed!!!!!!!
I LOVE this video. And I wouldn't have appreciated it as much if not for the conclusion and reflection at the end of the video. Really showed that you care about the process! Keep it up big guy
Beautyful! I think about to built such a thing for myself, theoretically I have everything needed for at home (beside eventually the screen and so) but its pretty much work for.... nostalgy ;) Anyway: gr8 work!!!
Really great project and video, thank you :D And I think the monitor swing makes it more realistic ^^ I remember some weren't very stable after some years...
You could add tiny smd LED (or other one) to illuminate LED on monitor, but god darn this is the most interesting video with RPi i have seen in a long time, even music in this video is retro and fits the theme! Well done!
Wow you paid such great attention to detail... You made all the detailing and on top design custom PCB and use specialized connectors. I will subscribe now!
This was absolutely incredible. I have no words! I wish I was as knowledgeable as you in doing something like this! The games shown at the end made me incredibly happy 😊
You´re a master of electronics with an exceptional imagination, I wish i could make true all my designs as you do, unfortunately my knowledge of electronics is zero hahah! Love your channel, please keep the nice work on!
Despite the flaws you mentioned this is incredibly work. I like your idea and how you went about building it. And last but not least nicely edited video with very nice b-roll footage.
AMAZING. I have been looking at doing this for many years, but basically just sticking a pi inside of an existing case I have that looks like a miniature pc but it is a novelty storage case for floppy discs. But you have gone total next level and the design of it is spot on. Now just to make some miniature speakers! The only thing I would have changed really is having the micro sd slot be a standard sd slot with a microsd inside an adapter card. Not sure if this messes up anything with the pi system, but the bigger sd slot may be less fiddly. If you did a small kickstarter for these (say 1000 units) just the kit without the pi, you would probably get the funding within a day and then some!
Hi, see you for the first time, but i like your selfreflection after the project. Have never seen this and it sounds much more professional. Greetings from Austria 👋
This is SO amazing... the attention to detail and thoroughness of the video and explanations... This takes so many disciplines to make something like this possible, I only hope to be as great as this one day... I really want a mini pc now too haha. Great work here, I so look forward to what you make next! Subbed! And thank you for sharing this!
How did you change the image aspect ratio? By changing overscan values, or some other way? BTW, the result looks great and I may replicate that in slightly bigger size, so I can accomodate an OrangePi 5 Plus inside, which is prepared to become my home server.

the real monitors wobble like that... you nailed it
Yes! 😂 Just missing the "Turbo" button no one knows what does 🤣
@@TheStuartstardust The Turbo button slows down the CPU so it can run older applications at the correct speed.
@@JoBot__so it's more of a slow button
Yea, all my CRT monitors had that wobble too.

Haha! You’re right! Mine too had that
i came to comment exactly this.
100% the old plastic monitor stands were absolute trash. One solid smack to the desk and the whole thing would wiggle.

You should sell these! I'd buy one!!!
yes... in kit form....me want
Pls sell these and do ship internationally 😢
you could create kits to assemble, you would sell thousands of them 💰💰💰
Yes! I would buy one!
I'm interested in buying as well
Not gonna lie.
That's sweet AF!
