  • To demonstrate how easy it is to spin evidence go suit any narrative, which is something we unfortunately see a lot of in the nutrition space, I’m going to formulate what I think is a pretty convincing sounding argument for the “health benefits” of smoking.
    DISCLAIMER: Smoking is one of the worst things you can do for your health. This video should not be taken seriously and especially should not inform what you choose to do for your health.

    "lower risk of parkinsons and ulcerative colitis"
    As a person with UC, that line got me rolling from laughter. All I had to do is smoke at 12 😭

    My personal favorite spun evidence for smoking, (this only applies to current smokers) according to the cdc, smokers who smoke through a bronchial infection recover 33-61 percent faster than if they didn’t. Meaning, even though they have a terrible cough and other symptoms of illness they will recover faster if they smoke. Obviously there are negatives as well especially in the case of undiagnosed lung/airway illness. However, don’t forget that if you don’t smoke at all you’ll recover even faster in most cases‼️

    Smoking is responsible for oestroporosis, bad oral health and upper respiratory infections like pheumonia. There are a large amount of people who don't smoke who have a normal bmi. Look up smokers bmi, and you will find loads of videos of smokers who are malnourished with anorexia complexes, with no muscle on their bones.

      I managed to quit for 2 weeks cold turkey. Fell off for a few days. Back at it now. 1 hour.
      I did it by breaking Mary Jane, alcohol, and carb addictions first ❤

    And then addiction sets in, you have a risk of permanent lung damage if so many of your alveoli are irreversibly destroyed by tar.

    When they tell you to "trust the science":

    • @jana731
      @jana731 Год назад +7

      Yeah science out of context is pretty much worthless

    • @dr.matthewnagra
      @dr.matthewnagra  Год назад +26

      Usually that comment is referring to the scientific consensus, which is based on the overall balance of evidence, so it would be reasonable to and probably smart to “trust the science.” What I’m demonstrating here is how people (usually individuals) can twist things. Those people are often anti-consensus.
