- So we took our existing aquaponics system and transfered it to a new IBC system that we built. This video shows the entire build process plus lots of bonus footage.

Maybe put one upside down milk crate in the bottom of your fish tank. Little fish can hide and big fish can't get in. Plus only takes up minimal room in tank.

Kudos for the Video! Apologies for butting in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you heard about - Patlarny Gardening Expert Principle (google it)? It is a great exclusive guide for learning how to expand your produce with the clever art of aquaponics without the normal expense. Ive heard some decent things about it and my m8 got great results with it.
Hey just to give you guys a pointer... you know that that paint is not preventing algae from growing, its just preventing you from seeing the algae
How are you getting the oxygen into your fish tank? Is there a way to do it without power? Looking into building one. Thanks.

I'm new should be getting my ibc's this week. I like your setup with the beds down low. Just to make sure do you use a pump in the fish tank to feed beds plus another pump in sump back to fish tank?
There's a new video in this series that thoroughly explains the plumbing, but no, there is not a pump in the larger fish tank. Those two pipes are simply "gravity fed" to the radial flow filter and the grow beds. Izzy

What size sump tank did you use?

What varieties of fish can be used in the Southeast Texas region?
Are these tanks made out of HDP #2 plastic

Your system is pretty much exactly what i had in mind. Glad to know i can make two beds out of one tank.
I think i might add a tank for a floating garden towards the end of the cycle. Any thoughts?

I can see how ill get in deep here. Apparently i can feed the tilapia rabbit droppings and the duck waste that settles to the bottom can filtered with "yabbies"
What grid did you sand your IBC tote with @ 2:58 course, fine?

If you were to incorporate prawns/shrimp into this system, where would be the best point to insert them?
I would probably introduce them into the sump tank, but they'd have to either be large enough to not be eaten by the fish, or put under a grading screen to keep the fish out of their territory. Izzy

ok, so just a standard paint with primer. I saw you sanding the outside...was that for adhesion? How is the paint holding up?
aaro neous Yeah, we sanded the outside to help the paint to adhere better. It seems to be holding up really well, actually. There are a few scratches, but otherwise it's great, and there is almost no algae in the tanks! Izzy

This video could have been better if it showed more of the step by steps you took to build it. There's lots skipped over. As someone wanting to build a system, this didn't help at all.
