- Explore how kidneys operate, and how this organ helps filter waste and excess fluid from your blood.
--
After drinking a few glasses of water on a hot day, you might be struck with a sudden ... urge. Behind that feeling are two bean-shaped organs that work as fine-tuned internal sensors. Emma Bryce details how the incredible kidneys balance the amount of fluid in your body, detect waste in your blood, and know when to release the vitamins, minerals, and hormones you need to stay alive.

That's it... I'm done. Now that I know how hard my kidneys work i am going to try harder than ever to eat healthier.
Me too
Just made me feel so BAD about how hard they work.
And drinking only the health beverages and watch the quality of water you drink
it is not possible to eat healthy in 2024 unfortunately
@pitchdark2024 yep. Been 3 years since I posted my previous comment and unfortunately I'll have to agree with you. Seems everything nowadays is toxic in one way or another. Even water
We are lucky to have these two magical beans! ♥
Now we bury it and make a beanstalk

@@janaajinah6816 what do you feel thats abnormal

Are kidneys bean shaped or beans kidney shaped?
I dunno
Did u guys know u can donate ur kidneys my mom and uncle are doing that
Both, but kidney beans are called that because they look like kidneys, we don't call kidneys kidneys because they look like kidney beans.
both u dumbo cuz its the same shape

I wish there were more videos like this one here, raising the awareness for Kidney Disease has never been so important. I have a channel only to talk about kidney disease and I still CANNOT BELIEVE how many people think their kidneys are just there to filter the blood. And most of all, nobody seems to care for the MILLIONS that each year DIE from kidney disease. So, thank you. #kidneyhealth #00kidney
Nice Video! Sorry for chiming in, I would love your thoughts. Have you researched - Trentvorty Perfection Kidney Theorem (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is a good one off product for improving kidney function without the hard work. Ive heard some great things about it and my cooworker at very last got cool results with it.
I tried to find out about "what foods are good for stage 3 kidney disease?" for a while now, and I think it has helped. This is an excellent program for finding ways to help your kidneys function without the normal cost. I have heard some great things about him and my friends have had tremendous success with him. I had too much protein in my urine. I stopped taking NSAIDs and now 3 weeks later my protein level is normal in my urine! Excellent explanation of the kidneys the only problem is you give glory to luck (or should I say Lucifer) give glory to who Christ created all things or face the 2nd death only to be thrown into the eternal lake of fire forever for your sins!
The kidney is so important, do not sell it for iPhone.

All organs are amazing
Liver , heart , lungs , brain, eyes , ears
Skin , spleen , glands , joints , Skelton,
Every thing designed amazingly 👏👌😍
Regardless who is the designer , I am really amazed , impressed and stunned
the Designer/Creator is to Whom where we shall return to when we are gone.
joints?
If u look deeper into the biochemistry of most of these organs Ull see more great design
There is no designer or creator all these have evolved with time.

Simply brilliant! An 8 year old could understand the way this was laid out, unlike other videos that make it sound like calculus.
That's because it mentions only a fraction of how it works

It's shocking how many people have kidney damage (about 10% of the population) yet only about 1 out of 10 are aware. It's important for everyone to get their kidney health checked each year to catch any problems early. Thanks for this helpful video!
How can we get kidneys checked?
@@itsrainingcatsanddogs there's home test strips available on internet or even try a doctor (although, if you're in the UK, that's a bit tricky 😅).

so basicly this vids save me from learning pages of textbooksduring exams, thank you so much ted ed
Actually this vid just did a very brief overview.
In my exams in 10 th grade we were supposed to learn the structure of the kidneys as a whole, structure of individual nephrons, functions of the parts of nephrons and to make free hand drawings of the above with labels.
Lots of information in a quick video but you made it not seem rushed or overloaded with content. Very good graphics too. Amazing job!

I always think of ozzy and drix when they show the animation of our bodies. I used to watch that a lot as a kid.
For years I haven't taken good care of my kidneys but after that kidney massage I did, I feel them fired up again. Getting rid of the lactic acid buildup in my muscles, letting those multivitamins kick in, feeling alot better.
The animation is just brilliant, ted is always a ted
How amazing is that your body is working day and night to make you alive and here you are depressed because she left you. Respect your body.

8 Liters of blood in the body?? Thought it was 5-5.5 Liters of blood..
I am 3 year late... but bear with me 5 litre is our blood pumped by heart per minute..whereas total amount of blood in our body is 8 litre.. hope it helped
@Dokkasan sorry bro it's not called stroke volume....But heart does pump 5 litre of blood per minute...In 70 kg man
The amount of blood in the body is directly proportional to the mass of the body containing it. The conversion formula may be found on google.
What an informative video kudos❤

Any chance you can explain why I urinate more volume and with more frequency when I am getting sick? I have done this all my life. I have insulin resistance, if that may be a factor. My kidney function is tested every year, and my doctor says I have “very happy kidneys.” I secrete high amounts of cortisol into urine, but my blood cortisol levels are fine.
Ehem, the kidneys don't *make* the waste into urine - they filter the urine out of our blood. That actually makes the urine is the liver
thats what they said
WOW! Thank you for this incredible and educational video!!!
