I didn't like this one as a kid, but I picked it up many years later and got pretty engrossed in it. The game is not great but I played it through the end a few times and had fun. My main bit of advice for street fighter 2010 is to play it like castlevania and not contra. Your guy is slow and his attacks have a wind up, but the same holds true for most of the bosses.
I liked this one as a kid, but I think I was just dazzled by the beautiful graphics and animations. I played it at a friend's house and we beat it... I don't remember how. Perhaps using a Game Genie.
I gotta say, I agree with the Japanese consensus on this one. Probably a top three Capcom NES game for me, alongside Little Nemo and whichever Mega Man is my current favorite. I suppose adjusting to Kevin's controls, while not easy, didn't ultimately bother me as much. And that soundtrack! Magnificent! It's a real shame that what little Western discourse there is around is consists mainly of tired jokes about its outdated/unfitting name.
I've tried playing this one a couple of times and I could never get used to the controls. I'm surprised that it's considered a classic in Japan, most people I've seen talk about it say that it's either bad or just too hard.
Once you figure out the controls, to me - this is one of the best side scrollers on the system. Awesome music, bizarre areas, fairly good level design (although they get lazy with some of the sand levels being repeats). Overall I think it's a solid B+ or an A- of a game.
i always liked this one a lot, for an action game of it's time it's technically rock-solid, has great art design and sprites, and the music is excellent. it almost feels like a game Treasure would have made at their peak, but scaled down to the famicom. the controls can be a little bewildering but i consider the depth of the moveset compared to most similar NES action games to balance that out. it is, however, way too hard to be beatable by most people.
This game could definitely be improved a lot by a few hacks, just make it a bit less punishing/fix the controls and voila, it's a good game. I had more or less the same impression as you about it otherwise. It has a great presentation, but also a few glaring issues for sure.
I was gonna say I always thought it was 2010: The Street Fighter but I guess they also called it by the same name as we did? anyway yeah I've kinda liked this one, but the difficulty just kicks my ass every time... and yeah the weird hangups with the climbing mechanic definitely messes with you so it's definitely a problem. I will say the soundtrack is some good stuff a lot of great songs on here.
Visually, this game is fantastic (though the BGM is pretty headachy). At the same time it's overly pretentious at the gameplay. You got wall climbing, special kicks, auto-scrolling etc. I think that Street Fighter 2010 is Capcom's second bummer for a system, the first was Higemaru Makajima :)
This is a challenging game but I wouldn't say it's "extremely difficult". It seemed pretty fair to me back in the day. Regarding difficulty, It's closer to Ninja Gaiden than Battletoads.
2010 was such a weird year. I'm glad we got past all the cyborg criminals.
if there's one thing I can say about this game it's that the presentation is amazing. It looks and sounds amazing for a NES game, full stop
The soundtrack has become a top ten in the NES library for me. I finished it once, but I'm 50/50 on giving it another try.
One of my greatest accomplishments is beating this game! 😂
good job, there's something especially rewarding about conquering unfair, brutally difficult games.
Mine too! I beat back when I had waaaaay too much time on my hands
Now it's time to go even further and beat the hardest NES/Famicom game ever: HOLY DIVER !!!
@@EuSouRCS that's definitely on my bucketlist!
@@StevenQBeatz Very Nice indeed!!!
MASTERPIECE material on this one!
Not only did I like this game when it came out I beaten it in three days of playing it though by the end boss I was swearing a lot while fighting it.
"Nothing like Street Fighter or Final Fight"
THANK GOD FOR THAT !!!

Hey, they also had the baseball mystery game.
@@RndStranger hmmmm, consider me interested in that! 😁
I'm kinda shocked this is well regarded in Japan, the only things I've heard about this game is how bad it is
