He's been playing Hendrix longer than Jimi played Hendrix
Good point!
On the GOOD SIDE,check this out.I saw Randy Hansen in 79 at the Henry J Kaiser audotorium in Oakland Ca.Amazing Shit.In the very middle of jammin to FIRE,Randy Hansen got on his knees and twirled his Strat about 15 feet in the air, caught the guitar and kept on jamming like like JIMI.Any mis timing could have resulted in a broken face. But it did not.JIMI looking down at Randy that night would have said Yeah,Cool, good SHIT!!! John Couger that is what he called himself then was BOOOODDDD right off the fuckin stage. He SUCKED! Headlining was Blackmores Rainbow with Ronnie James Dio.Ritchie B almost made Randy look bad.GREAT NIGHT OF ROCK! RIP BILL GRAHAM
That first solo just before two minutes is so perfect. I’ve been listening to this song since 1969, it’s as near perfect as I can imagine
In the resurrection Jimi can play Hansen
I think he played longer than even Hendrix was alive...🤯
Randy shaved a part of his scalp hair so Jimi can communicate directly with him from space. I have no words for this performance. Awesome!!!
Awesome, just needs to glue a little antenna there..
LOL!!!!!!
Dude I dont know why but that comment hit me off guard and I just shot soda through nose and cannot wipe the shit eating grin off my face everytime I think about it. Lmao!
Perfect Statement Neon...brilliant
that's a "solar sex panel" dude & I think Randy has earned all the accolades; he's kept live Hendrix alive; we love him!
by far the best Hendrix impersonator, and he is REALLY great
Saw him live in Boston in the 80's and was impressed with his performance. He really got the Hendrix sound down, and that ain't easy baby!
Every one tries to overdo Hendrix. Randy stays with Hendrix. Being a shredder does not make you Hendrix. You have to stay natural, pure, as Hendrix was. So, Randy is there to carry on the magic, and to let people see how things were done.
So impressed I've watched many interviews this dude Mr Randy Hanson is close real Jimi with love n passion for his work
@@tpstrato2270 Absolutly - and he´s such a funny and creative tour mate. I miss the shows very much. The whole springtour got cancelled, dammit. Sorry for complaining :-)
I don't think that Randy is an Hendrix impersonator, is the soul of Jimi inside him.
Randy Hansen is the closest anyone has ever got to Jimi. He is the Hendrix tribute I would ever go to see. Magnificent.
+John Berry He really is incredible. But the way I see things, he's chasing someone's style that's been frozen in time (especially on a fairly short career), which can be done, with an insane amount of work.
That's the sad thing with Hendrix's playing : who knows how he would have played today. Nobody will ever get close to his creative approach of guitar.
+kiff ricard Indeed Kiff.
Buckethead cover of this song is a million times sicker
+John Berry Could not have said it any better!
That's because Buckethead is the greatest Buckethead tribute guitarist alive
As someone who was lucky enough to actually see and hear the Band of Gypsies in live concert back in 1970 I can tell you that these guys do an amazing job of duplicating the sound of the original Hendrix trio.
Wow Jack, you are certainly lucky to have witnessed that concert. That album was my favorite for years and years until I wore the damn thing to dust. Cherish those memories my friend!
You are so lucky man... I listened this album a million times. Was then 14 years old.
I always asked myself howcome the crowd reaction was so hard to ear in the mix. I think you guys were flabergasted by what was going on in there. A piece of history was in recording status.✌
No shit, wow!
You were very fortunate to have seen the Band of Gypsies perform live. I saw Jimi perform with Mitch and Billy in May 1970. We know how wonderful it was to hear those bands perform live. I enjoy playing the recorded stuff on vinyl, but live, wow! The volume, the sound pressures of waves of musicality emitting throughout the room! I would like to see this Hanson band, they are doing their best to bring back the vibration.
Hendrix once said" I've been imitated so well i've even heard people copy my mistakes"
Love That !!..Peace..
and he does especially on the live version of machine gun . most of that what ad libbed and feedback perfectly mimicked by Randy
Yes
Even hitting an off vocal note
Awsome
That's the difference between an imitator and an innovater!
Holy shit, he his singing even sounds like jimi. How have i never heard of this guy?
Cause your gay
Jimi Hendrix is not dead, today he looks like this man and he's playing for us..
I wonder if hes still playing today
Been a Hendrix fanatic since 1969. Only a few individuals come close to duplcating the energy-flow and sound produced by Jimi. Stevie Ray Vaughan had the power, fluid dexterity and attack of Hendrix. Randy Hansen has a blend of the power, fluid dexterity, and attack of Hendrix, with one more attribute... Voice! His voice seems to mime Jimi's.
No one can "be" Jimi except Jimi. But, both in sound and visually, Randy pulls off a legitimate copy of one of the greatest, most original guitarist and singers in history.
Thank you Randy Hansen and Band for giving us the best Jimi Hendrix Experience today!
Thanks to ufowalter for posting
Jeff Healy could rip out ball tearing Hendrix style solos such as on "See the Light" , Robin Trower had a lot of Hendrix stuff down cold on "Bridge of sighs". Robin Trower's Vibrato is amazing.SRV was a big Hendrix fan.I still think it is better to do your own thing, get your own style, say your thing. Albert Collins always said that .
Stevie Ray Vaughn used to open shows for Randy. True fact
Trower is spiritual like Jimi ...but he never attempts to copy only be influenced by Jimi ..this guy is killer !!!
Since 67 here. Add Kenny Wayne shepherd to that list. Song’s a right of passage for a select few.
Dont forget ROBIN TROWER GROUP of the 70s That was blues/rock hendrix style .
A tormented soul Jimi's spirit left his body and choose to dwell in Randys body.
Great rendition of a memorable Hendrix song. Band of Gipsys is the greatest live album ever recorded imo.
That album was made because of a recording commitment the band was obligated to undertake. Jimi played in a relaxed way because he knew there was no money in it and wasn't trying to please anyone but himself. Result was timeless amazing art !
Jimi Hendrix died... and got fucking reborn in Randy Hansen... Thank you so much god!
Such a great baseline.
This dude is the best Hendrix cover artist ever
Way to go Randy, there was all kind of Hendrix in this video. Loved the audience as well. Well done.
Randy's been doing Hendrix' music for so long that he still blows my mind every time I watch one of his videos. He is the best.
Hendrix died before I was born, so I never had the chance to see him live. Randy is by far the closest thing. To be honest, when a Randy version of a Hendrix song pops up on a playlist, I often can't tell which of the two it is - he's that good!
I was lucky enough to See Hendrix live. Had all his albums and wore them out. I've heard a lot of guitarists cover Hendrix but not capture his essence. Randy isn't just impersonating Hendrix, he's channeling him
holy cats! how could I have not come across this band before tonight? Unbelievable. I can't stop smiling! I'm going to watch all the videos I can find. Thanks ufowalter! great job dude.
Hey Neil - thanks - it´s our pleasure
Astonishing!
This Is What Jamming Should Sound Like Excellent Playing !
his third teeth look like rabbit-heidy klump-hairdresser Connection la.fuck someone Young.
I met Randy at HWY 99(a club) in downtown Seattle we talked and took pictures. He told me he met Randy Rhoads. Super cool.
This performance alone should have Grammy/Oscar all over it!!!
His vocals are unbelievable
Just found Randy today...WOW The Real Deal
+Bill Schmucker You bet. I only learned about him about a month ago. What a great tribute artist/band.
I just found him today!!! 4th video in!!! This guy is amazing!!
Me to just found this
It’s hard to believe. The look, the guitar tone, the bass...spot on.
I mean no cover band would cover this tune, he is so damn good. True Jimi fans know this tune, most casual fans have never heard this song, so good!
Randy....Angel on guitar
Brilliant musician!!!
I almost cried listening to this performance for how good it is. thank you guys!
Long time guitarist and 40 year Hendrix fan---and for me besides watching The Man, there's nothing like this!
Flawless. Let's see where Jimi would have gone and where Randy deserves to be. SWEET
Amazing, all the vocal range of Ian Gillan together with the groove and energy of Hendrix !!
You guys make some sweet noise for just a 3 piece band, somewhere out there,
Jimi has a smile on his face.
Buddy Miles vocals for sure. The gypsies were one of the 1st great black rock & blues bands with an edge.
Thanks Ufo. Great vid, great audio, great performance by all. For the nay-sayers: no one does Hendrix better than Randy. If you've ever seen him live, you would agree. Jimi is long gone, but Randy has kept the music and sound alive for us to enjoy for over 35 years. I don't see how anyone can complain about that.
Amen to that!
Gonna see Randy in a couple of hours on my birthday today.
What a way to celebrate your birthday with the music of Jimi.
I don't either get the complaining, Randy does justice to the music of Jimi.
People like me weren't able to see Jimi live and Randy is no 1 when it comes tributing the master.
Because it's better to be the first "yourself" than the second anyone else. That's what people are naysaying. We're entitled to our opinions.

@@davidferrara1105 that someone does not get randy is not the average tribute band is beyond me. There is some supernatural about this close to reincarnation experience. Just watch his face. Plus no one complains about violonists reinterpreting mozart or paganini for the millionth time.
great player in the purest Hendrix's mainstream...great sound
I saw Randy play nearly 45 years ago in a small club down by the beach and he blew my young and impressionable mind. Jamming out on the street.... Randy is obviously a brilliant musician in his own right. As a guitar player myself what really strikes me seeing him so many years later is how much mileage Hendrix could get out of one position on the neck, and it never gets boring, and it never seems to repeat itself, even though its repeating itself over and over. Fantastic vibrato, Randy is, was and will be the whole package.
Yes ..True Sincere Dedicated Rockers Like You Mr.Randy Hansen , UFO Walter And Manni Von Bohr Will Always Keep Soul , Blues , R&B ,Rock'nRoll , Program.Rock And Hard Rock Alive Forever , Thank You
Randy , UFO , & Nanni , . Always Be Like You Always Are Original .
Thanks - that´s nice. We can´t wait to play again.
He is so fantastic. What a great gift, this man, who is a great musician on his own, gives all his talent and knowledge to keep Jimi's music alive.
Dude is so dedicated he actually plays the guitar upside down. That's dedication.
Plate reverb is my friend its july 4th 20 2 14 am and this is very loud...
I love Hendrix and Randy Hansen is a message of love.
Super Awesome! GrandMaster Blues Cosmic Psychedelic Guitarist. Jimi Hendrix🎸🎶🎵👑. Is being Channeled through Mr. Randy Hansen🎸🎶🎵
Absolutely awesome 😎
That magical tone christ almighty!
I have a few octave fuzz pedals and they take a lot of skill to master. They are a like a seperate instrument altogether. Hats off. The sweet high notes are there.
Ty nightngale. Im a bassist that plays multiple guitars as in six strings also. Guitarists are gifted. Think about this: when Randy was working this stuff out with the goal of authentisty, there was no youtube or head phone jacks on most amps nor usb ports. He had to rent a large commercial space some where alone at full Marshal volume then break a band in to get the high volume sound like that. Alot of fckn work just to be half as good as his hero. He's done credit to his aims. Most people who can't play much less at a high level just dont know how much work is involved. Then Play it and sing along as well. Another skill many don't have. Vocals and playing fluidly.
@@bassboye8959 good comment
Incredible ! The guy is so in touch with Jimi.
What I can only “like” this one time !?!?!
Sometimes we tend to take Jimi for granted always expecting great sound when we listen to his records. But when someone plays Jimi so well that there is a conscious effort to sound exactly like him (nuances and all), there is a renewed acknowledgement of how unique and legendary the great ‘Jimi Hendrix’ really was.
Most of my black friends love Hip Hop and think that they're super talented but couldn't name two songs by Jimi Hendrix. I find that pretty sad personally.
@@louisdiamond7045 Tupac songs have lots of heart. "Life Goes On", "Pour out a little liquor", "So Many Tears"..
Jimi B like "Ain't This Bout A Bitch??!!.. Stupid "Sobroz" & that FLIP FLOP Shit.. Hendrix PROBABLY said "Thatz My White Brother From Nuther Mother... PLAY On Brother!!..
@Will oh.. ok
I would call that insulting.
Most of my white friends are the same mate
What would Jimmy say if he came back to the present and heard some guy blazing his riffs away with his exact tone and phrasing, sounding almost identical to his voice. I think he would be quite proud and honored! God Bless Jimi up in rock'n roll heaven.
Well, actually the voice on the original Hendrix album was Buddy Miles. 🤔
This is the CLOSEST I’ve heard anyone come to actually playing that song! Good job!
One thing many people can play a hendrix song'but know one I ever heard has the soul except for MR.RANDY HANSEN. THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR WHAT YOU DO.I LOVE YOUR MUSIC.
I saw Randy Hansen and his band in 1979 in Phoenix. I am 60 now and have seen many great bands and Gigs. His show in '79 was one of the best shows I have ever seen. He put on a truly amazing show. I'll never forget that night!
As a young(ish) follower of Hendrix - I'm 33 years old and fell in love with this music at 6 years old... I am a huge critic of people covering Hendrix songs. Many try and fall short which frustrates me... These guys however are amazing, no other way to explain it. I sat in the 2nd row in the Melbourne concert last week, F-ing incredible. Nearly brought tears to my eyes - really did not expect such a magnificent performance. Randy playing in amongst the crowd while he played my favourite - Voodoo Chile Slight Return. These guys are having fun... they love the crowd that supports them. Playing not only the singles - but some songs that only true fans would know. These guys are the real deal, and I have a new favourite band to follow! Please come back to Australia soon guys!
I saw him play in Wellington NZ last night and was transported back half a century. His presentation was total right down to the ostentatious jewellery on his hands. I could close my eyes and Jimi was playing right there. Amazing!
Me too! Was prepared for the worst but left thinking that was the closest I could ever get to seeing the real deal. Started out quiet, but when the amp warmed up and he turned up a bit it was a great show, sublime playing, man his rig was dialled in on kill. I was back a bit on the ground floor. From there he even looked the part.
The spirit of Jimi is captured in the dynamic performance. What a treasure. Is he still active?
Sure - go to randyhansen.com and check out our tourdates
@@ufowalter SUPER~!
I saw him late 70's when he was just started doing the "Randy Hansen's machine Gun" act.
San Jose State.
They played Rainbow Bridge movie before the show.
People were heckling before he came out, "Let's see the Kmart Jimi Hendrix" and crap like that.
By the 2nd or 3rd song, jaws were on the floor and nobody was heckling any more.
When he did 3rd stone from the sun, with all the sound effects, it became pretty much a life changing event for many.
I was freakin' stunned.
Randy is one of the true greats.
When I started in 1972 I owned 30 bootleg and released Jimi albums, by far the best of all tributes
Here's one of my fondest memories... Johnny Winter was at Parker's night club in Seattle. Al Hendrix " Jimi's dad ", sat at the table next to ours. Johnny played a killer version of Red House , and after the show, Randy and me talked with Al in the lobby. I will never forget the tear Al had in his eye.
just found this guy by his brother commenting on my post boi am I glad i did 🙌🙌🙌
Captures the true spirit of Hendrix’s music better than anyone , nice job 💫
I saw this, man I think in 1980...I met him backstage before the show...I thought at that time, he was by far the best Jimi Impersonator, I had seen or heard..He's got 98% of the guitar part, what a feat..85% of the vocals the closest I ever heard, BIG BIG feat... I have heard of too many Guitarist, who was supposed to be the 2nd coming of Jimi ..Way too many are A JOKE!!! you name them...But this Man is Very Very, did I say very -close to the Real Deal....Much respect
Thanks Jeff, that´s nice. You got your percentage down, man :-)
Seen Randy 2 weeks ago in Sydney what an incredible performer was not disappointed if you ever get the chance to see him don't miss out you won't be sorry probably one of the best live acts I have seen
Randy's got some Randy going...luv it!!
Randy was one of the players at the Jimi Hendrix Music Festival back in the day. Great and friendly person. We had a fabulous time with the whole team backstage. Guy
He´s a real sweetheart
Randy rules!!!!!
love the way he nails all the best little sounds on this song from the Band of gypys album... something that Hendrix wouldnt do, as he'd never play a song the same twice
Your right David, he hit alot of the right licks, really stucknslam dunked them. Really enjoyed this video.
Imitation, it is said,is the sincerest form of flattery.Jimi lives on.
WTF! I’ve no words for how this touches my souls 🎸🤘🍺
WELL ; JIMMY IS STILL ALIVE THROUGH RANDY HANSEN !!! HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO KEEP THE SPIRIT TO JIMMY !!! VERY GOOD JOB DEAR RANDY !!! I HOPE I CAN YOU SEE LIVE ONE DAY !!!!!! (Y) !!!!!!!
It's Jimi not Jimmy
Randy...Angel on Guitar 💪☝️
I love this - this is one dedicated guy who really loves his Hendrix and clearly doesn't just play for the money, great stuff man!
You don't just listen to this it pulls you in and takes you with. It's an experience.
Jimi will be proud of you!!!!
Damn. Best Hendrix player I seen.
I think Jimi would be proud !!!!!!
Randy take back the groove and soul of Jimi . Borrowed. Cheers to both !! 🎉
Saw Randy once in 1979. Awesome show. I just wanted to compliment the quality and editing of the video. Imean closeups of fingering frets! Also awesome. Thanks.
Thanks Randy Hansen Band !
SWEET!!! Best Hendrix impression/version I've EVER seen!
Thanks my Friend ! For the Songs of Jimi Hendrix
impossible tone to replicate, he is just amazing.... he even knows when to turn that wah on to treble the tone, just like jimi did
Absolutely great.
Thanks Randy
Damn nice cover boys! It's amazing
Great audience chorus here, really into it! With the great playing and tone Randy's doing a real service to all Hendrix lovers!! Thanks bud!
That's about as close as your gonna get to Hendrix! Stella performance!
A real master of the Hendrix style! Just amazing! Randy Hansen is superior!
Randy keeps the Jimi Hendrix fire burning.
Thanks for posting these Ufo Walter.
Pretty sick. If you close your eyes.....
I just keep coming back to this! What a great thing to keep Jimi's joy alive....Have shared with old JH fan-friends and they can hardly believe it either! Randy, you're amazing.

Excellent!!! I have added these vid links to a music web page/facebook here in Boston and everybody on the site is going nuts loving this!!!
Thanks for the support, Robert. I live in germany, but i have some friends in Boston from back in the days, when i worked for Lexicon. Do you know the drummer Frank Sarcia? He´s a cool guy and a great drummer. Oh my - i can´t wait to tour with Randy again.
@@ufowalter Hi Walter, Anytime. Your all amazing players!!! Randy is incredible with the Hendrix stuff! - He's channeling his spirit through him for sure! I am not sure about the drummer Frank. Name doesn't ring a bell to me. I will check with my some of my contacts on the website. When will you guys tour again?! Will you be in the New England area if so? Check out my youtube page if you want to. I started playing guitar a couple of years ago. I'm just a drop in the bucket, but hopefully i'll get there someday LOL!

This came on in the background when I wasn't paying attention. Of course, I figured it was one more Hendrix performance.
I got a surprise. Damn good.
Oh I love it! So awesome!
Beautiful!!!
