  • Placement of an implant four months after a bone graft was completed to increase the amount of bone for a single tooth implant. The bone graft was made using the patients own bone and usually takes 4-6 months to heal fully. Once the graft has healed we will be able to place an implant into the new site. In this case we have decided to leave the implant buried under the gum tissues for a further 4 months to heal fully.
In the ct scan images we can see how the area before was quite thin in cross section and then after the bone graft the thickness is more conducive to implant placement. We used the patients own bone for this bone graft. The bone is harvested from an area in the mouth where a small portion of bone can be extracted and used for the graft procedure.
