That lightsaber went through so much. I hope it wasn’t lost on the Death Star in canon.
I'm sure he had it on him on his ship
*Why do people insist Obi-Wan was killed by Vader, it simply isn't true.*
*This was Obi-Wan's greatest trick to fool Vader, when he force ghosted it poisoned Vader's mind causing Vader to live in fear of a Kenobi ambush forever, this permanently weakened Vader.*
facts obi wan did a secret move only special jedi's can do and that's why they always say "i will become stronger then ever before wants you cut me down."
Pretty sure it was for Lukes benefit, not to just troll Vader. Thats why he waits for Luke to show up. It helped Luke overcome his fear. I think scaring Vader was just a perk.
Because these star wars youtubers are full of shit.
Maybe in Legends, but not in Canon. Vader won and he knew it
I totally disagreed till I sat and thought. Obi Wan hid in fear from the inquisitors. He knew that pain. And just as killing Han Solo weakened Kylos resolve Obi wan practically force cursed Anakin to bear his pain by resigning himself to the forces will.
Basically he did what the Prague spring monk did and pulled a hara kiri curse using the force
Vader actually took Obi-Wan's lightsaber with him in his TIE Advanced fighter during the Battle of Yavin, which explains how it survived the Death Star's destruction and remained in his possession afterward. I like that little detail.
Edit: That's what I heard was the explanation in the EU anyway.
Except you clearly see Vader's personal lightsaber on him in ANH during the while he's on the DS during Battle of Yavin- and only his lightsaber.
Unless he told his wingmen "Come with me!" and meant to his quarters while he grabbed Kenobi's saber before heading down to the hangar- which, ya know, seems unlikely.
Interesting! Is that considered canon? I thought in canon the status or whereabouts of obi wans saber were just unknown
how much time lapse between Obi-Wan's death and the attack on the death Star was it a few days a few hours what was it?
@@Sephiroth144 Vader still had his home base , and put it in his collection.
For Vader to be carrying Obi Wan's saber on his fighter during the Death Star Battle, he would have to have felt it likely the Death Star would be destroyed, right?
Obi Wan didn’t die, he became one with the force
I love the Obi-Wan Vader fights.... I can always feel the admiration Vader has for Kenobi, even as twisted he is by the dark side he still loves Kenobi deep down
I think he admires his skill and power mainly
love is a strong word. vader despised Obi-wan down to a T. it was his passion to defeat his old master
I always assumed that Vader picked up Ben's saber the same way Kenobi picked up his on Mustafar. So it's probably either in his castle or else maybe Vader presented it as a gift to the Emperor and it's on Coruscant hanging on a wall in his office.
Darth Vader attacked the Sand people in retaliation for his mother more than once. He is known to have visited the resting place of Padme, and spent countless hours mourning her. Is it far fetched to think he would want to bleed Obi-WAN’s crystal. A way to seek vengeance and assert final dominance over Obi-Wan
They could of had Finn find it and purify it and in return Luke would train him for healing his masters crystal. but instead all we got was him running around yelling rey.
I think vader came to the realization obi wan kenobi just got my number I can't figure him out, I'll come back to the light eventually.
Darth Vador did not defeat Obi Wan. Kenobi just stopped to fight...
That's a W, Obi-Wan tapped out.
Pretty much, Vader was a loser
@@coomodus2592 nah kenobi is a Tap machine. He started blaming the ref and vader made him tap after multiple shots and combinations.
@@coomodus2592 gotta be trolling
@@BatChad I’m not. Honestly, I expected the Palp/Vader scene to pretty much open up w/Sideous saying, “So you got your ass handed to you once again” lol
After Palps and Vader figured most of the remaining Jedi were dead or out of the force, they disbanded the Inquisitors and turned their HQ into a tourist attraction. Vader probably just put it on the red shelf with the others in the briefing room at Hotel Inquisitorious🤣
Obi Wan surrendered himself to the force, with the caveat that once stuck he would become more powerful. Vader didn't understand this as Obi Wan had direct tutelage from Qui Gon in how to preserve his consciousness after 'death'. Vader didn't take Obi Wan's lightsaber with him aboard his ship while he was dog fighting, it was destroyed on the Death Star
Hyperspace travel is fast, but not instantaneous. I'd say a good day or two might have passed between Obi-Wan's death and the destruction of the Death Star. I'm sure Vader didn't grab it and immediately say "take this to my castle on Mustafar", but it probably sent as a priority package, very easily escaping before the destruction.
Watch the reimagined fight between Obi Wan and Vader. Vader took it.
@@alekjhiddel They were in the middle of a major operation, one that was the singular priority of the Emperor, as they stood on an invincible (citation needed) battle station. Vader likely dropped it off in his quarters/office, and would attend to it once the mission was completed.
What reason would he have to rush it off to Mustafar? Let alone who would he task/trust with what was likely his most valued prize? Why wouldn't he just wait until this job was done, and take it over himself?

Crazy how kenobi literally goes 2-0 against Vader since he didn’t really lose in episode 4 but instead let himself die
3-0*
2-1 he lost earlier on the series
He didn't really "die" either, he vanished becoming one with the force which permanently weakened Vader
@@niyiamoo-peters5859 you mean from the flashback scene? Obi wan won even without his lightsaber, anakin thought he won when he disarmed obi wan, but that's not the case. So 3:0
@@haziqsofian he literally lost and got dragged through flames, granted it was an out of touch Obi wan but still
Darth Vader took that shit and yeeted it into Mustafar. That's my headcannon.
After browsing through all the comments, I like this. No complex legends/canon conflict arguments. Just yeet that shit to Mustafar. It is now my headcanon as well.
He never really "beat" obi wan though, did he?
He's 0-3 against him..lol
Not at all lol
In the canon novel from a point of view Ben Kenobi said he had no chance against Vader in ANH
@@whisky_icarus8731 False.
Obi-Wan said he lost a sparring match to Anakin.
The match we saw also technically goes to Anakin,he had him down and dominated the fight,Obi-Wan just hit him a little but that doesnt compare.
Vader also won the first fight in the Kenobi series
Vader won in ANH,if you have doubts read "From A Point of View"
Not really tbh I think obi wan did what Luke did in tlj
Some of yall keep saying Obi Wan went 2-0 against Vader as if we didnt see Vader drag him through flames in Episode 3 (of the Kenobi series). Im not going to argue the fight in ANH because that can go either way but at the very least it should be 2-1
It went boom with the Death Star- the end.
This is a very good and interesting explanation! Better than me finding Saber hilts and kyber crystals in The Force Unleashed!
“Your light saber will Make a fine addition to my collection”
Am I the only one who wonders how the fight would’ve ended if Kenobi didn’t let Vader strike him down?
vader didn't strike him kenobi transcended into a force ghost
@@maybellesolidum2018 Yeah, AFTER Vader struck him down.
@@theantitroll Vader's blade actually never touched Kenobi, Obi-Wan became one with the force the moment before the blade touched his skin.
This thread is why Star Wars is believed to have the most annoying fandom..
@@thefearofg0ds758 What the fuck did I do?
We all Love Darth Vader
🤣👏 Obi-Lost looks like a dwarf there in New Hope
Cute cat in the background sound :D
The saber was already dying when Obi-wan had it, Obi-Wan couldn't keep it lit and flicked it on and off to conserve energy.
It was sold on eBay by the Jawas.
Can you do a video about what if Obi-Wan had been secretly training Luke Skywalker 2-3 years before the events of New Hope
I thought that in legends Yoda built another one on Dagabah and Luke got it from his hut after his death.
The question is did Obi wan come to darth vader as a force ghost talking trash or did he try and teach him how to become a force ghost since when he died automatically become one.
If only Vader knew how much he once meant to Obi Wan
I dont think he saw what happened on the Death Star as a victory to be proud of. He didn't actually win. Obi-Wan just disappeared. He probably kept the lightsaber out of guilt or rememberance. Not as a prize trophy because he in no way earned it.
I can hear your cat meowing in the background lol
What happened to Vader's palace after the fall of the Empire?
Short sale to some Chinese real estate investor.
Probably just turned into ruins? I doubt there's many people would want to live on Mustifar?
Air bnb
Good question
Can we get an explanation on how Qui-Gon finally got a physical appearance as a force ghost after he wasn’t capable of one and was just the voice of his consciousness during the clone wars?
Because he didnt get to fully learn to become a force ghost before getting killed by Maul
he literally says i was always here you just weren’t ready. he was always there he just couldn’t be seen bc nobody was ready. once obi wan was at peace with himself after the duel with vader was when he finally saw him
So did Obi-Wan become a force ghost just before Vader hit him? Or did Vader hit him but the low budget effects of the time didn't allow Obi-Wan to be cut in half?
obi wan became a force ghost
You should do a video about what happened in/to vaders Castle after his death on the second death star and what happened to the artifacts of the jedi and sith that where held within
What if Obi-Wan had a curved-hilt lightsaber? Would that increase his power of Soresu?
probably? Curved hilts were favored in specifically lightsaber-lightsaber combat due to its proficiency in disarming an opponent. Now, I have no clue if that is more offensively or defensively, or both. It certainly would have made him more vulnerable to blasters, so the trade off might not be worth it? cool question
It wouldn’t increase his power. Lightsabers don’t increase the power of their wielders. Would it make it easier for him parry? Perhaps. The curved saber is specifically designed for parrying with uncommon techniques. Slashes and attacks that your opponent can’t anticipate based on how you move your hand/arm/body. Dooku used a curved hilt saber for this very reason, and it’s one of the many things that made him so deadly in a duel.
A curved lightsaber is more for offense I don't think it's what you want for defense
@@seventhsoldier2502 some crystals in sabers could increase the user’s power.
Curved lightsabers were primarily for offensive lightsaber combat, because it was easier to twist and turn your lightsaber without losing any power in your strike.
However, I'm not sure if it would help defensively.
I guess it could help if your in a fast paced lightsaber duel
but with soresu you wouldn't strike your opponent as often as other lightsaber forms, so it would kinda be pointless anyway
here kitty kitty! dont bug the nice man with the mic! *gives treats* you can BARELY hear him or her but.. I swear I can hear a cat in the backround
Obi wan, the master of trolling presses alt + f4 before vader could kill him
He added it to his collection
Light sabers go through giant metal doors even parts of space ships, but can barely phase Vader's 1mm thick helmet.
Don't forget Luke struck him on the shoulder in Empire Strikes Back.
Obi-wan allowed him self to pass to become "more powerfull than you could possibly imagine"
Darth Vader did not defeat Obi-Wan Kenobi okay let us get the record straight! Obi-Wan was holding his own with Vader and at some point during the conflict willingly gave himself away to the force and effectively faded away and dematerialized okay he was not defeated!
He ascended to force ghost.....basically taking the high ground (or higher plane of existence)
@@quingo7526 On Mustafar, Obi-Wan only managed to "defeat" Anakin because he successfully baited him into a disadvantageous situation - playing to Anakin's blind ego caused by his unfamiliarity with the dark side (buying into his own hype).
In the Kenobi show, Obi-Wan flat-out defeats Vader and could easily have killed him. It's nonsensical that he would choose not to deliver a mercy killing and save the galaxy from the future atrocities that Vader will likely commit.
Vader even gave Obi-Wan an easy out by telling him that "Anakin" had already been killed and that only "Vader" remained.
@@quingo7526 uh that is basically what I just said but in my own words LOL thank you for summing it up for me and putting it through a nerd filter!

@@yamahakid450f okay I appreciate that thank you
Vader did keep trophies.
He kept all the Jedi from the temple frozen in Amber.
First - Obi Wan wasn't killed by Vader - Obi Wan simply chose to end his mortal life and begin life as a being of light. And Second, everyone knows that Vader took Obi Wan's light sabre and pawned it at the local Death Star Pawn Shop/ Blaster and Light Sabre Emporium just a few minutes after he attained it.
What book is this from? I need to read it next.
u r the best star wars lore channel
Luckily, Vader put the Kenobi lightsaber in the glove compartment of his Advanced T.I.E. Fighter so he wouldn't forget it when he went home for the evening... Ironically, the lightsaber sat in the glove compartment for six months until Vader found it again when his registration expired...
Is it still likely that Luke's green lightsaber was created from Obi-Wan's design combined with Qui-Gon's crystal?
Some how Kenobi’s lightsaber returned…
I would doubt it was a prize or trophy. I would expect it to be more than that. More like a memento or keepsake. It is too bound up with memories to be anything else.
Just realized how Vader/anakin is always so hell bent on “destroying” obi wan… it’s like dude he’s gonna force ghost and literally by indestructible
He was jumping up and down on his Vader bed.. "Ha ha ha Obi Wan.. Now I have the high ground!"
Obi-Wans force Ghost appears on the ceiling.. appearing as though he standing on top of the next level seen through the floor..
Vader looks up.. "uh, what.. oh.. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO......"
"Lookie Obi is a Glowy Sparkly Ghost too Ani!" says Jar Jar as he jumps up and down on the bed now..
People are ridiculous saying that Darth Vader didn’t kill Obi Wan Kenobi well ladies and gentlemen he did. Vaders lightsaber indeed made contact with Kenobi cutting into his body severing it in half instantly killing him. Hence we saw he became a ghost after death. It’s obvious he can’t be a force ghost if alive so he’s dead. Lucas said in a interview that he was told to edit the scene because in the 60s-70s technology and the ratings wouldn’t allow him to show an old man get cut in half by a cyborg samurai using a laser sword. To me that makes sense not Kenobi pulled a trick and mysteriously disappeared moments before Darth Vader struck him down with the lightsaber. Moments before Obiwan was meditating because he knew it was his time and he was trapped regardless by Vader and the Stormtroopers. I believe he most definitely did not vanish ladies and gentlemen he died because of Darth Vaders lightsaber cutting his body in half plain and simple. Darth Vader was victorious in defeating and killed his old friend and mentor finally getting his revenge on kenobi after all the years following his defeat to Obiwan on mustafar
"Most prolific trophies"? Are you implying that Obi Wan's Light Saber mated with other light sabers and had baby light sabers?
Did Vader ever get revenge on the high ground?
What is the song that plays after your videos?
There wasn’t any info within this video about a give away.
Hmm. Just makes me think how much I want a series based on Lukes Jedi academy. But sadly...that can not happen.
Yeah. I read Jedi Academy when I was young, so it makes Jacen and Jaina's eventual destiny even more painful.
If you choose to die in a fight, only so you can become a force ghost…did you win or lose the fight?
This light was strong on obi wan Kenobi
Obi was not defeated by Vader. Obi didn’t even fight. He let go and ascended to the force to ignite Luke’s destiny!
Yes! It should’ve passed down to Rey who, in my mind, is a Kenobi.
That would be so poetic.
Anyone but Rey... 🤢
@@lordtimone7302 Aw, c'mon, she had potential. In the right hands, of course. It's a shame she ended up in anything but.
Let's be honest at least once behind the scenes vaders dragged his nuts on that lightsaber "your form 3 will not defend you from this"
Does he even still have those 🤔😳
What if Ashoka went to Mandalore with Obi-Wan and Anakin?
She left the Jedi order before all of that happened so she never would've done
@@TheOriginalMasterOogway I'm talking about the Siege of Mandalore, where she help captured Maul and took back the planet.
Wait, I thought Yoda's lightsaber got destroyed by Palpatine in the Vader comics, or is that not cannon any more?
anybody else hear the cat at 5:15
After the Obi wan series and that finale people now realize how powerful Obi wan actually is, he is on par with Luke 2-0 vs Vader and a general during war time nuff said
Perhaps
Vader’s still a learner because Kenobi ALLOWED Vader to defeat him. Kenobi will always be the Master.
1:50 I’m not sure the use of the word prolific here makes sense
It probably did happen as he did it with Ahsoka's as well and it's Obi Wan
How can it be a "prolific" trophy? I don't think you quite understand what prolific means...
What if Bo-Katan Kryze defeated Maul and/or Sabine Wren in combat for leadership of Mandalore and/or the Darksaber?
Remember guys vador did not kill obi wan obi did ghost force only a few jedi masters can summon if they know their pupil will need their help one day as even vador uses to and i like how in the end of he's series he want back to being anakin. But i wish they dive more into that though.
Is that your cat in the background?
The fact that you said that Ben Kenobi was killed makes me question your knowledge on star wars.
Kenobi's defeat? No.... Vader won only because Kenobi consigned to allow himself to be struck down.
Vader beat himself by letting Obi ghost like Swayze
Seeing vader kick is funny
Finn should of ended up with Obi-wons lightsabre fighting alongside rey. He was obviously force sensitive.
I think it was implied that he took it any jedi or sith would have taken it as a price possession. its obi one light saber.
Obi-Wan
prized
Didnt Yoda lose his sabre in the Senate? Not the Temple??
He probably sold it on iBay.... Probably had a personally autographed certificate of authenticity complete with a photoshopped selfie pics of him posing with Ben's head. Wouldn't be surprised if he even sold Ben's clothes at a low extra cost. Complete with DNA.
one of the first ones
You know, the more people on RUclips talk about this crap the more the corporate overlords think we want more.
It's time to be done
I don't like the explanation. The last fight where obi-wan disappeared must have been a hollow victory for vader. Not only did he disappear, which would have been incredibly confusing to vader, obi-wan was also an old man at this point. Vader never beat obi-wan in his prime. if anything i find it more plausible that he kept it as a dark reminder.
siths are crying because it is LIGHTsaber and not BackstabbingBitchSaber
Vader actually so bad, he had to defeat Obi-Wan by waiting 50 years so that Obi-Wan is on the verge of death and basically giving up the fight to join the force as a force ghost, had they fought Im sure Obi-Wan would have found a way to use Vader's arrogance against him once again KEKW.
Throughout this video you erroneously keep claiming that Vader defeated Obi-Wan and claim it was a "triumph" for Vader. This is incorrect. Vader NEVER defeated Obi-Wai. Kenobi allowed himself to be struck down by Vader on purpose so that he could continue to tutor Luke as the last hope of the galaxy in a way as a force ghost that would be impossible for Vader and the Emperor to stop. Kenobi once again defeated Vader in that moment and triumphed over evil yet again.
I wouldn’t say triumph, although it seems more as if Obi-Wan surrendered. Which would mean that technically Vader still won the battle.
@@isaacsgap4407 No, he didn't surrender. He purposely allowed this to occur so that he would now be invincible to the Empire and unstoppable in training Luke.
@@isaacsgap4407 he didn’t surrender though, he fought Vader on a different front
This is obviously how Vader viewed the situation
He surrendered that battle so that he could fight a different battle. Both sides won, Vader "killed" Obi-wan and Obi-wan became a force ghost.
Did he really kill obiwan tho? He gave himself into the force no body to be found so really it’s still a Vader defeat
YES he did die.
In the CANON novel "From A Point of View" Obi-Wan said he felt the pain from the saber cutting through him
He also said he had NO CHANCE against this stronger Vader
IDK... after Vader "Destroyed" Kenobi, Luke and company escaped ... i recall Takin asked Vader if the tracking device is on the Millenium Falcon, Vader confirming it. Logically, the Death Star will follow the beacon (to Yavin 4)... I dont think there will be time time for Vader to order a commander to FexEx the lightsaber and Kenobis clothes, since they in hot pursuit to destroy the rebels. Most likely the kenobi artifacts were destroyed along with the death star. #JustSaying.
Its been 45 years. We don't care about the light saber ...
We do
How long can lightsaber stay ignited?
2 decades from live action. Rogue One?
I think he also would have made Obi-wan's crystal bleed as in a way it was the last remnant of his master's will and connection to the force. While the lightsaber was just a symbolic chunk of metal on its own the crystal was a part of Obi-wan. The crystal is the heart of the blade. The heart is the crystal of the Jedi. The Jedi is the crystal of the Force. The Force is the blade of the heart.
Obi pulled an Itachi. He let him win in the end.
Ikrit was a Jedi Master, not a Padawan.
I'm begging you to learn what the word "prolific" means.
Captain Keenan: Um, yes. My lord. This is Captain Keenah. I've been, assign as your liaison with the attack group. Be aaurd that I am aware of your, uh, strict policy regarding job performance. I won't let you down, my Lord.
Lord Starkiller: You've failed me for the last time, Captain Keenah.
Captain Keenah: If that is the case, I assure you I take full-Chk-Chhhk-Aaacchhh!
I don't like when people say obi-wan and Luke died. They hardly died. They've become immortal, I still hate the last Jedi, but it's true. Immortal

I don't know about anyone else but I know I consider the Disney sequel trilogy as non-canon.
