Definitely Gremlins. My favorite Christmas movie and overall favorite movie as a child and today that wasn't a huge franchise. Still hoping for a third movie though.
I love how they gave him an interesting backstory but at the same time left out a lot of details about exactly how he turned Santa. It feels like a great set up for a potential sequel.
@@d-1381 Oh they could and should 100% do a sequel and I hope we get to see Mrs Claus cause that would be epic. I'm envisioning her as the actress Ragga Ragnars for some reason haha I just want a big badass Viking chick 😁😁😂😂
Just want to put this out there. That end kill with the chimney has me wanting this Santa as a playable character in a future Mortal Kombat game because that was obviously a Fatality.
My favorite Christmas movie since Elf! Also *Fun History Lesson* this Santa’s Viking backstory is ACTUALLY tied to the real origins of Christmas. Long before Christianity or Catholicism came into existence there was the pagan holiday of Yule (yes as in whenever you have heard of Yuletide) and when Christianity was starting to spread throughout Scandinavia they actually stole some of their rituals and holidays and made it their own. So Santa being a Viking actually makes perfect sense.🤣🤣🤣
It's surprising how many people (mostly Christians and Catholics to be fair) don't know the true history of Christmas and just magically think it's about Jesus and Santa and capitalism with gifts and commercialism lol
I was suprised how much I enjoyed this. Entertaining action film that I'll probably watch again around Christmas. David definitely has movie star charisma
They are working on the sequel now (well not with the writers strike, but you know what I mean) and supposedly Mrs. Claus will be a big part of it this time.
Fun fact: Santa Claus originally was in norse mythology and Christmas actually called Yule time originally but it was changed to Christmas by the Christian church but in origin Yule time their are thirteen days and their are thirteen Santa’s called the Yule lads and Yule time is celebrated in modern Norway and Iceland and anyone who has Norse roots
This is my new favorite Christmas movie. Loved your reactions to this. Especially when roxy had to turn away after the nail in the jaw. Lol. I love that they gave Santa a viking background.
This movie makes me think about Kevin from Home Alone all grown up after becoming Santa instead of Tim Allen putting his skills to use and having a blast doing it.
This is my top 10 favorite Christmas-themed movies. Gremlins however is still and always will be my absolute favorite movie of all time. A major part of my childhood and is still very important to me for many reasons.
Soon as I saw this it was added to my yearly Xmas "must watch" list. Think there were already rumours of a sequel with Charlize Theron as Mrs Claus... 😂
Watched this movie when it came out & fell in love with it!! I put it on my list of rewatchable Christmas movies!! David Harbour is perfect as this version of a badass Santa who is struggling with his mission to spread joy & happiness to the children of the world. Leah Brady who plays little Trudy gives the movie its warmth & emotion. Her interactions with Santa are the glue for the entire story.
Absolutely loved that Santa was a Viking warrior, a second movie has been confirmed and I really hope they explore some more back history on how he became Santa!
Loved this movie in theaters!! It got green-lit for a sequel really fast after its opening. Hoping to see Mrs. Clause, Rudolph, his helper elves or other winter holiday related characters in the next one.
Roxy, its very sad that you , as a jewish person, will never know the magic of waking up on christmas morning to find out that Santa has killed a bunch of intruders at your home. It was a Christmas Tradition at my house growing up
It would've been hilarious if parents didn't know for some reason what kind of movie this was and brought their young kids to see a Christmas movie for kids. (Granted, i dont see how you go to see "Violent Night" without realizing something's up) like that time parents went to go see Toy Story 4 and there was a mistake and the projector played the 2019 Childs Play movie lol.
At least we’ve grown as a society since 1984 and there wasn’t some massive tantrum like with Silent Night Deadly Night. Which was a movie only adults could watch, yet parents got angry about it. Like, why would their kid even know it exists? Says something about their parenting I think. 🤦♂️
I watched it in theaters and the only other people watching it other than my group was a mom and her two 5 year olds I don't remember if they left early or not but I know that the mom seemed horrified 😂
I really appreciate you covering this movie. I probably won’t ever watch the entire movie, but this gave me all I needed to see. One of Santa’s more famous origins is that he is Saint Nicholas of Myra, a 3rd/4th century bishop who, among other things, once punched a heretic. So, violent Santa is actually pretty accurate.
This movie was absolutely an EPIC surprise! Went with a few friends and I am telling you I know for sure we each took some other people to see it. I now own it and it will be up there with our Christmas favorites!
I watched Violent Night this weekend for the first time and absolutely loved it. I definitely want to see a prequel film on his origin as a Viking warrior and then becoming Santa. I have no doubt that film would be fantastic if not even better than this one.
John and Roxy both have such glorious hair! Hey, did you guys realize this mom is Beverley D'Angelo, the same actor that is the mom in Christmas Vacation
I want to see the violent night again, so moving to another reaction, thanks for your reaction. I don't know, I steal all my movies, um, I mean, ok I don't pay for services.
Thank you for the shoutout! I don’t know if I can drop Pandemic from my name, it has become my identity 😂 this movie is so fun, saw it in theaters lol much love guys!
Only thing I disliked about the movie was Santa not going fully on a killing spree and instead he saved a family. I hope there’s a second where Santa does more kills
I don't know if someone answered this already but the reason you don't normally see Rudolph in movies is hes not part of the original folklore and is not public domain until 2034 (100 years) when the copyright expires
Thanks for this great reaction to a new classic. I’m a rabbi (grew up with and still think this it’s an awesome holiday and love that it’s a National holiday)and I love Christmas and every year I have must-watch Christmas movies. This got added to the list last year upon its release. The amount of Christmas “magic” in it surprised me. I expected the NOBODY/JOHN WICK level violence from it. Did not expect the Christmas feels from it. For me, the perfect combo of John Wick meets DIE HARD meets HOME ALONE meets CHRISTMAS VACATION meets MIRACLE ON 34th STREET
So, Santa actually has some HUGE ties to the Norse God Odin. I gotta say, being a Pagan that celebrates Yule, that little nod really got me pumped for the rest of the film. Loved it!
Great reaction. But does Roxy just watch movies so she can pick at every detail? Lol Just enjoy and don't think so hard, especially in a movie called Violent Night about Santa taking out bad guys with machine guns. Lol. Thanks again for the great content.
Most people with kids don’t know what’s going on so if there is an extra present under the tree, one will assume the other bought it and it won’t be questioned
It baffles me that so many people ask where Rudolph is in any Christmas movie when the song clearly states it was ONE foggy Christmas Eve. Pay attention people.
My mom and I watched this a few nights ago and about 20 minutes in, I was like "This...movie...ROCKS!" And about 30 minutes in, I decided to order it on Blu-ray.
my headcanon is that Nicomund the red took and took and took and took (things, lives etc.) and he caught the attention of the norse gods in turn made him immortal and that every single day of the year, for every kids tears and blood spilt, to atone for his sins he'll give everything he took back and more.
Yes, Pat Casey and Josh Miller co-wrote both of the Sonic movies, and also this movie. For what it's worth, Pat Casey actually is my cousin, although I don't know him really well.
This has been great watching this show again along with yall! Excellent show! The Terminal List and Jack Ryan are two other great Prime shows that are somewhat similar to Reacher!
Ok here we go. Rudolph wasn't an original reindeer from the poem including all the reindeer written in the 1800s. He was created by an author ( I can't recall at the moment) in the 1930s. If movies/shows use Rudolph, they have to pay the author and/or the family royalties from the show/movie.

Roxy should write and star in a Hannukah comedy
Die Hard! IDC. It's the GOAT!
This movie is fantastic!
IpMan 4
I was shocked at how solid this movie was. Manages to be bloody and violent without being ironic or insincere as a genuine Christmas movie.
It was so good cause there was comedic gore and then just gorey gore 😂😂

I thought that too. It'd be awesome. A random chimney would appear and he'd do it.
Mortal Kombat 12 finally has a trailer, could Be the Ultimate Prequel or something, it's called Mortal Kombat 1.
My favorite Christmas movie since Elf! Also *Fun History Lesson* this Santa’s Viking backstory is ACTUALLY tied to the real origins of Christmas. @@HappyCommando92494must be very loosely based on Odin since Odin was supposedly a huge asshole and Santa isn't 😂
He’s not necessarily Viking but Norseman. Tho Yule isn’t a Norse tradition it did originate from one of the isles
