22:20 they did a zoom/Skype call years later with many of the child actors now adults and Arnold surprised them joining the call, it was very heartwarming.
They actually had to do quite a few retakes of Crisp abduction of Dominik in the school because Richard Tyson loved the kids as well, and they couldn't get mad at their friend. Apparently, between takes, he would spend a lot of time with them
"It's not a tumor!" Possibly Schwarzenegger's most iconic line outside of the Terminator films. Also, Fun Fact: Of all his movies, he's stated this is his favorite role, as it was a departure from his typical action heroes, and he also loved working with the children.
Fun fact! The school in this movie, for whatever reason, was used as the model for the first Silent Hill game on ps1. From the shape of it, to the posters on the walls. Seriously. This school is the school in Silent Hill, and that is awesome.
Aaron and Coy have great chemistry, I look forward to seeing more reactions with these two handsome fellas. Out of all the Arnold films I think I quote Kindergarten Cop the most, so happy you two could experience this greatness!
Last Action Hero is my favorite Arnold and also my favorite quote "You want to be a farmer? Here's a couple of acres." "Put that cookie down." is probably my number 2.
I love Last Action Hero!!! One of the most defining funny moments in this movie that showcase its humor….When he drops in from the roof and says “Hi” before using the two henchmen’s guns on each other….PRICELESS 😂
I love this movie. I just watched it last night. This is the guest movie that i got introduced to Arnold. Fun facts: • Filmmakers recruited local Astoria kids to be extras in the school. They were paid $35 a day. The filmmakers auditioned more than 2,000 children for the 30 kids in Kimble's class. • Ivan Reitman invented the five "Reitman Rules of Filmmaking" for the kids: Listen, act natural, know your character, don't look in the camera, and be disciplined. • Jason Reitman: the boy making out with the girl that Kimble interrupts during the real fire drill. • During an off day from filming, Arnold Schwarzenegger flew to Los Angeles to film the teaser trailer for Terminator 2: Judgment Day. •Bill Murray and Patrick Swayze were originally offered the role of John Kimble.
Emma, "I'm not a policeman. I'm a princess." John Kimball "Take your toy back to the carpet." Emma "I'm not a policeman I'm a princ..es" John Kimball "TAKE IT BACK!!!!!!" Emma "aaalright." "That is what we called discipline back in our day."
I already know that I'm going to love this reaction! This is one of my favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger films, along with the first two "Terminator" movies. I VERY HIGHLY recommend for Coy and Aaron the 1988 Arnold Schwarzenegger & Danny DeVito comedy "Twins". Not a 90s comedy, but it's pretty close to the 90s and it's Arnold Schwarzenegger comedy. 😊
You want a family comedy? "Adventures in Babysitting", with Vincent D'Onofrio as Thor! Be sure to stick around for one of the first post credits scenes i can remember. And remember: "Nobody get outta here witout singin' da blues."
So funny to see younger people miss all the cues. At the time, absolutely everyone knew it was Dominic. In 90s movie context, this was not subtle, was not secret, and the movie wasn't even trying to hide. :D
I love that the commentary started in the most Millennial way possible with the math being off by 10 years (my brain still tells me folks born in 2000 are only 14 at first) and missing malls being hang out spots. 😂
I played the euphonium in band, and since no one other than band geeks know what that is, it looks like a tuba, only smaller, and sounds closer to the tone of a trombone, but anyway, my dad and I have a running joke talking about euphoniums..."IT'S NOT A TUBA!" EDIT: 3.5 minutes into the reaction, and I already want more Coy and Aaron duo reactions. "We have Amazon rats."
“Who is yo daddy and what does he do?” Iconic. My fiancee and I just watched this last week because I wanted to show her Arnold’s best performance. Not his best movie but his best performance. His second is in Last Action Hero. Yall should do that one too.
In the scene in Kindergarten Cop where Arnold Schwarzenegger asks the children "Who is your daddy and what does he do?", many of the young actors were not given lines and instead are actually telling Arnold about their real father's.
Linda Hunt was so funny in this movie. She was Henrietta "Hetty" Lang on NCIS: Los Angeles, that's why she looks familiar to you guys. Also, she was just as sassy on the show as she was in the movie. My favorite moment was when DiNozzo from NCIS appeared on an episode and slapped him upside the head like Gibbs does! It's on RUclips that scene!
Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in Total Recall the same year as this. This was Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ivan Reitman's follow-up to Twins, which I recommend watching if y'all haven't already. The majority of this was filmed on location in Astoria, Oregon
I learned in reading about the behind the scene of afterlife that he often was on set during Ivan's films. it was how he met and became close friends with Harold Ramis' daughter, which in turn is what lead to Afterlife becoming what it is.
Many of the kids in this film recently had a group ZOOM call to celebrate this films anniversary, and Arnie naturally made a surprise appearance. It was heartwarming to watch ☺️
My mom grew up not far from there and used to tell me about the places seen in these movies because she had friends there. I've always wanted to visit.
@galmorzu You definitely should. I do preface it with the fact there's a bad meth problem in that region of the state. But the regular people are fun. Plus, you'll find out how unrealistic riding a bike from Astoria to Cannon Beach. Only bad thing in the Goonies lol
The Pacifier is a good comp for this movie and so is Tooth Fairy. The Rock also had The Game Plan, which is probably closer than the Tooth Fairy to mirroring this.
I miss malls, too. The mall close to me used to have an arcade *and* a pet shop. Any time my parents had to go to the mall (usually Sears and JC Penny runs), I always went to the pet shop to look at the animals (usually cats, birds, and small dogs), then played games right next door. I was so sad when the pet shop closed.
So many great films from childhood were filmed in Astoria, Oregon. Goonies, Kindergarten Cop, Short Circuit are the three I can remember off the top of my head, and if you go to Astoria you can see all the locations. The best film to hunt down the locations is goonies,; the jail, the house, and the best is the fact that the big rock they ride their bikes to in order to see it through the dabloon is so far south from Astoria, Haystack Rock, that it's rediclous that they took a bikeride to it on a whymn.
There are so many lines from this movie. 😂 This reaction was fabulous all the way!! Great chemistry. Fun to watch again . Thanks, guys, for a good time. So many lines from you both. 😂
This movie is proof Arnold can act. The way he starts as the typical 90's tough guy and actually had moments of genuine gentleness and just human moments. Especially for action movie guys like he was stereotyped as.
My twins were in preschool when this movie came out. My daughter's teacher was a 35-40 year old woman who was also a mom. My son's teacher was a single, male, graduate student, who was very fit. I remember all the mom's showing up at drop off fully dressed in makeup, instead of in their usual sweats or even still wearing pajamas.
One of my favorite 90’s films and Arnold’s films periods. It has so much heart, and Arnold really is a great comedic actor. I literally cried when I went to Oregon and got to see the school it was shot in.
You actually can get the twofer if you visit Astoria. In 2017 my gf and I were not only able to walk around the school where they filmed Kindergarten Cop but also the beach where they filmed The Goonies at Cannon Beach with the distinctive rock structure. The only thing we couldn’t do was tour Mikey and Brandon’s house. It was in a closed off street not open to the public because of too many trespassers over the years.
Yesterday I lost someone very close to me and was in a headspace I’d describe as unbreakably bad. But then I see my boys absolutely balling to this movie and I’m laughing like it’s my first time seeing it. Eternal subscriber 🤘🏻
Fun Facts: The role of Dominic was played by identical twins Joseph & Christopher Cousins. Richard Tyson, Cullen Crisp, played psychopath high school bully, Buddy Revell in Three O'clock High.
I sang with the choir at church yesterday and the auxiliary bishop said mass. He sounds just like Arnold even though Rev. Andrzej Zglejszewski is from Poland. He is a wonderful speaker and keeps the people’s attention.
in reference to people not hanging out at malls in America, here in Australia literally all the malls near me are packed all the time. Kids hang out there and treat it as a cool place to be still, it's cool to see.
The girl at 31:33 that Coy thought looked familiar is Sarah Rose Karr. She was in quite a few things throughout the 90s, including a couple of other Ivan Reitman movies: Beethoven and Beethoven's 2nd.
This was so fun. I loved seeing you two react to this one. I think you would love True Lies starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis. It is another funny, but action-packed film. It's really good.
Miko Huges, the boy whose Dad is a gynecologist, played Gage Creed in Pet Cemetery. He also played Dylon in Wes Craven's New Nightmare. And he appeared in a handful of episodes of Full House where he played one of Michelle's friends Aaron.
This is my second reaction watch with you 2. My 1st was My Cousin Vinny. I am enjoying you two and your reactions. You guys play off each other well. Thanks for the reaction to both.
I loved this film when I was younger. Pretty sure I have Schwarzenegger tourettes where I’ll just randomly quote his movies for no reason. I’ve said “I’m not a policeman, I’m a princess” quite a few times and people look at me like wtf!?
Coy Jandreau is one of my favourite people on youtube especially for reviews and reactions, & Aaron Alexander has some hilarious moments reacting on here.

the whole discussion around 1:10:00 or so, the talk about audiences not liking certain things now, or making movies leaner, cutting out stuff not directly tied to the A plot, etc, i don't think that has anything to do with audiences AT ALL. I've been a massive fan of films since i was a kid, and also and esp, filmmaking. grew on movies and the BTS of movies. esp love seeing special editions, directors cuts, extended editions, etc. and thing you notice in all of them is that what got cut from the theatrical versions is almost universally all the character stuff. all the stuff you talk about out. Thats why, with a few select exceptions, those versions are almost always the superior versions. because they cut out the stuff to make you care about the characters and whats happening. a good example is the 2005 Fantastic Four movie. that film has gotten a ton of hate over the years and even then, but the extended version of the film is actually a genuinely good film. because they cut out all the character moments that make everything else work. and this is all studio. this is all corporate meddling. The Abyss went the other direction but shows the exec mindset. James Cameron was told to cut the film down (cause who would watch a 2 and a half hour long movie....). The studio tried to force James to cut all the character stuff. James said no, he felt that was more important, so cut all the political tension, which, since as he explains, you can't cut a scene without cutting everything it's connected to, also meant cutting a massive, special effect heavy action sequence and changing the tone of the ending. James was able to do this because he had "final cut", IE final say in the end product. directors don't get this much anymore, if at all. So what i think, its not audiences, its studio execs finally getting the power to do what they have always tried to do. the stuff you talk about is what they tried to do in near everything. its just now, they are cutting the filmmakers themselves out of decision making alot more. there is less creative freedom.
It wasn't until seeing the reuniuon call, that I learned that Dominic was actually played by twins...and thats why the identical twin girls ended up in the movie, because Reitman wasn't sure until very late, wether the main kid was going to a boy or girl. They were actively casting for twins because of the screen time invilved and child labour laws. But even though they decided on boys, Reitman still wanted to give the girls a part in the movie....also, there were multiple Ferrets...
The is the best reaction to an absolute classic! As a straight, male Kindergarten teacher of 21 years I was very influenced by this movie. I can tell you the scene when Arnold falls, face first on to the bed at the end of the day is very real to me! Though... We had a pet Guinea Pig instead of a Ferret. Turning the light off works well for when the class is getting too wild. Insted of a whistle we used a round, wooden Xylophone. The childrens one liners brings back so many funny memories. Having said this, the parents/staff first impression of me, though mostly positive wasn't always. I came to realise and understand 'respect is earned not owed'. Made the decision to leave a couple of years ago. Miss it immensely..

You guys should react to "Mr. Right" starring Sam Rockwell & Anna Kendrick. It's an Action Rom-Com that also has an Assassin subplot.

22:20 they did a zoom/Skype call years later with many of the child actors now adults and Arnold surprised them joining the call, it was very heartwarming.
Was gonna mention the same. The best was how the kids (now adults) talked about Arnold and how he's helped them in life and kept in touch with them.
They actually had to do quite a few retakes of Crisp abduction of Dominik in the school because Richard Tyson loved the kids as well, and they couldn't get mad at their friend. Apparently, between takes, he would spend a lot of time with them

it sucks that he wasn't in the sequel. Maybe its for the best because that movie wasn't good.
Angela Bassett as the flight attendant is still one of my personal favorite "hey, it's that person" moment that I just recently noticed.
Same I was like how did I miss that lol
I had to a whole head turn like cartoon style I was like "No way that can't be who I think it is right?"

32:15 That girl at the front is Odette Yustman. She played Beth in 'Cloverfield'. 😊
in reference to people not hanging out at malls in America, here in Australia literally all the malls near me are packed all the time. Kids hang out there and treat it as a cool place to be still, it's cool to see.
Cop and a Half 1993 movie with Burt Reynolds comes to mind.
The girl at 31:33 that Coy thought looked familiar is Sarah Rose Karr. She was in quite a few things throughout the 90s, including a couple of other Ivan Reitman movies: Beethoven and Beethoven's 2nd.
Thanks!
The passing of the torch movie you're referencing is The Rundown with Rock and Seth Green.
The kid that says “boys have a penis and girls have vaginas” was a frequent on Full House.
The little girl who first pets the ferret was my sorority sister, who actually grew up in Astoria. She said it was a trip.
This is my second reaction watch with you 2. My 1st was My Cousin Vinny. I am enjoying you two and your reactions. You guys play off each other well.
Thanks for the reaction to both.
It wasnt "I'm the party pooper" HOW DARE YOU!!! 😂😂😂.
It was: "I'm da Pahty Poopa"
"gave him/her to one of my teachers" so that's how he got his ferret, it makes sense now why he's got one! :p
I love this movie so much. The first 15 minutes of this film is some of the best badass Arnold character building ever.
You have to see twins…so great Arnold comedy with Danny de Vito…so great
I loved this film when I was younger. Pretty sure I have Schwarzenegger tourettes where I’ll just randomly quote his movies for no reason.
I’ve said “I’m not a policeman, I’m a princess” quite a few times and people look at me like wtf!?
Just what I needed on this rainy Friday morning. Classic movie growing up.
The Goonies was also filmed and set in Astoria :)
The Rundown is the movie with the Rock & Arnold passing of the torch. Rundown & Walking Tall are both fun action movies.
In 2020 or 2021 they had a reunion with the kids and Arnie surprising them.
yes came across the video on Instagram didn't watch it though!

Both in Unison
“DON’T SHOOT THE FERRET!!!!” 😂😂😂
It wasn't until seeing the reuniuon call, that I learned that Dominic was actually played by twins...and thats why the identical twin girls ended up in the movie, because Reitman wasn't sure until very late, wether the main kid was going to a boy or girl. They were actively casting for twins because of the screen time invilved and child labour laws. But even though they decided on boys, Reitman still wanted to give the girls a part in the movie....also, there were multiple Ferrets...
They are the same twin girls from problem child 2
That Universal Studios 75th Anniversary intro always reminds me of Child's Play 2 😊
31:54...Pause. That's Sarah Rose Karr and she was also in the first 2 Beethoven movies. But she quit acting in the mid 90s.
There was a Kindergarten Cop 2, but the least said about that.... the better.
