I'm a professional flooring installer. 20 yrs +. This video popped up and I thought here we go, another one of these videos, lol. All good advice people. From the "cheat board", to setting out, to packing the floor off so it has a solid set to build off. I use these techniques daily! There's is a little more to it than that, but good place to start.

God Bless you too, I am in the middle of a project that is getting me a bit down and stressed. A rather small project but I need the plumber to move some plumbing before I can finish the drywall and set some cabinets. I have had the flooring setting in boxes for weeks now and I just want to start. But I can’t set the cabinets on the flooring and am now contemplating just doing the floor then cut out the section for the cabinets afterwards. Just so I feel I am making progress. Anyway your prayers are much appreciated thanks and God Bless.

I'll echo what others have said here. I've watched several of your videos, and while it still took me a fair amount of time to find the center and measure where I wanted to have my cuts, your advice and expertise saved me a world of headache!! Having your first row completely straight is so dead-on critical, that without that, anyone will just be pulling their hair out trying to fix it 10 rows in. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, keep making videos because you are really making a difference!

i do it the exact same way whenever possible, so much better than using spacers, in rooms where its a concrete sub floor, i'll generally use spacers, then place a load of planks on the starting rows to weigh it all down

  • @KingBaconMonger

Hi Joe: This is a very late thank you. I remodeled one of my rooms last summer, tore out the carpet and installed LVP. I watched dozens of your videos, some repeatedly, and while doing the install I sometimes stopped work, looked at one of your videos, and then continued. (Including "Install the First Row Last) I thought you were overdoing it when you showed how to avoid a 1-inch strip of LVP along a wall, but that was the situation in my room - if I hadn't watched your videos first! I started with a centerline and did a rough layout from there. The results are so beautiful and durable that I'm thinking of putting LVP in other rooms. Clicking boards together is easy - planning it and doing it accurately doesn't happen by accident! Thanks for you videos!!
PS: One of my neighbors hired a "professional" to do his floor. He now has half inch gaps in his LVP between the short ends, you can see bumps everywhere where the installer didn't check the floor underneath, and you can see the blue padding showing through gaps everywhere. It's horrendous.
