  • I build a pretty simple #keepsake box with #boxjoints and a sliding lid on the CNC machine and go through the whole process. Thanks to 3-IN-ONE Brand for sponsoring this video! 3-IN-ONE Garage Door Lube is available at retailer near you: bit.ly/2SGaV6Q

    Thanks for showing the process. It looks good.
    If you moved the location of the 1/16" holes so they were tangent to the corners rather than centered on them, they might be less apparent. The gaps would be about 1/4 the area, and look like shallow arcs.

    I now have access to a CNC (although not mine), I am excited to design and make some box joints. It is like the universe brought this video to me. ;-)

    I am very curious about using a CNC machine as a hobbyist. What machine would you recommend for a beginner in the cnc realm?

    Did you consider using the box making widget?

    Nice looking box. I’m new to CNCs (currently assembling mine). I will also be working with Aspire. I noticed the relief cuts when you initially showed the box. Thanks for explain what they were and why they’re needed. Is there any way to avoid these reliefs so the joint looks tighter? Maybe a different shaped finger?

      @tonyamburgey1549 2 года назад

      Maybe a tiny toothpick-sized dowel? It would be more work, but you can leave the holes out and just file the corners to 90 degrees.

    Really interesting; thanks for sharing. In your opinion/experience could I glue 7 2x2x12 pieces together and then use a CNC machine to cut out an 11”diameter inch ring?

    Do you allow a few thou clearance for the box joints or just exactly the same? Tks

    Anybody try a round instead of a square box joint? Thinking perfect fit as a round bit cannot cut a perfect 90 inside corner.

    So, given the link in your description, is it safe to assume that you are using Vectric Software to design and create the g-code file?

    • @darbinorvar
      @darbinorvar  2 года назад

      Yes, I'm using Vectric by Aspire

      @@scotttovey If all you intend to do is 2.5D (i.e. no 3D modeling), VCarve is a good (and substantially cheaper) alternative. VCarve can import and process 3D models as well, you just can't model in VCarve. Just FYI
