- woodworking comes in handy while beekeeping. today I made a hive box out of cherry. I used the Vectric box gadget to lay out the design, and cut it out on the Legacy Maverick. if you read this far comment what your favorite animal is. thanks for watching.

The only channel I can find on making hive boxes with CNC - dig this!! Definitely interested to see how you do the frames. Scaling a CNC workshop to make beehives in bulk would be interesting. The personalized information detail is excellent!
If you are planning on making a lot, I would recommend using a vertical vice on the cnc to cut the ends, it will be a lot faster than using the box gadget. I went this way because it was low production numbers and I did a carve on the face.
Would love to see vectric aspire tutorial. Thanks
I would like to see a vectric tutorial for a bee box for sure. I have been trying to figure out how to CNC hive boxes. I don't have vectric yet, but this might be the reason I finally get it.
I have a few videos in the pipeline already, but I will add this to the list!
Very cool - I just discovered the box tool in Vectric and hope to try it out in a couple weeks when I'm off work for a bit and get to spend more time in the shop!
It does make boxes so much easier.
That's pretty sweet!
I think so too! But I won't use cherry again. Pine seems to be holding up better.
@@CustomCreativeCarvings yeah and it's cheaper! We've got 14 hives and I plan to make some extra boxes once I get my CNC
The cheapest option I have found is to buy the precut boxes and then use the CNC to carve cool patterns into the box before assembly.
Was that a 1/8 bit?
It is a 1/4"
Chickens! My question is do you sell the cut file?
With the box tool, it has to be built from scratch each time.
I would have used a tool to taper the bottom of the hand holds otherwise water will stand in the handholds.
That is a great suggestion for future builds, thanks!
