Great job Steve. You're killin' it with that X-Carve buddy.
Hey Dave! Thanks! I really like the challenge of designing stuff that can be cut with the CNC. Watching it run and then seeing if everything fits together like I expected is cool.
This is awesome. Thanks Steve.
Nice work Steve!
Hey Peter, thanks! Happy New Year!
Im ten year old im very love your product
Hi Kirov, thank you! Happy New Year!
Wow that's awesome. Great CNC box.
Thanks Brandon!
Awesome work Steve! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Thank you Fred!
Hey Steve! I love that project! What a wonderful, genius design and no way does it look like it came off the CNC! Enjoyed it as always, take care!
Hey Sam, thanks! That's what I was going for. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
That is awesome!!!!
You get us with that smile every time ,Steve. Love that the drawers depth matches the width of the layers. Proportioned well.
Thanks!
Nice one Steve. Really interesting to watch
Hi John! Thanks! I've really enjoyed your guitar videos.
@@SteveCarmichael Thanks Steve! More to come on the guitar front!
Hey Steve always love it when the 'Bell" goes off and it's you. Good job on the box. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family. Here's to '21 being normal!!!
Thank you Tommy! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Cheers to 2021!
I still love all your work Steve. Nice job!
Hey Russell! Thanks!
Great design. I love how it turned out.
Thanks Gene!
Great Project!! Thanks for posting the Easel Project. I have been looking for Jewelry Box plans.
You are the Boss ! Thanks so much
Ha, thanks!
Cool!
Hey, thanks man!
Well done
Thank you John!
Always a joy to watch your videos. Excellent work and a positive disposition. They don’t always go hand in hand in woodworking. Merry Christmas from a fellow Gwinnettian.
Hi neighbor! Thanks! Have a Merry Christmas!
Great project Steve. Looks like a lovely jewellery box.
Thanks! Yeah, it turned out just how I pictured it on the first try. I am pleased!
Nice box Steve, I'm amazed that your X-Carve still work so well. I know you have a newer model than mine, but I think I made too much modification on mine, it's now unreliable. Each time I use it something breaks, a strap snap, a screw get loose and make everything stop, both side never at the same place, I always have to reset them after each cut. And so on, and so on.... I'm glad to see that yours doesn't have all those problems. It's also true that everything went sideways after I put my water cooled spindle. a 10lbs spindle is way too heavy for this machine, but it's the only spindle that can sustain my 23 hours carvings. I've literally melted 3 palm routers in one year... So I'm working on making a new machine, but the covid situation made a stop to my project....
Nicely done Steve! Great project for the CNC. Hope all is well for you and your family.
Hey Richard! Thanks, yep, all is well here. Hope all is well there!
Amazing tutorial with a lot of creativity. Congrats.
As always, great job. Merry Christmas to you and yours!!!
Thank you! Merry Christmas!
Very imprcive thanks for sharing .
Thank you! Cheers!
Very cool. I think alignment holes are super helpful in the glue up.
Hey Brian - Yeah, they helped a lot. The skewers I used were a little loose, but kept it aligned well enough so I could just sand away any unevenness. My other option was some wire coat hanger pieces, but I didn't want to put metal inside the wood. Next time I will just get the right size dowel rod. lol
Nice job!
Happy Christmas to you and your Family Steve.
Stay Safe,
Barry (ENG)
Hi Barry! Happy Christmas to you and your family as well! My funny Christmas story this year is that my mother in law asked me to buy her some mincemeat and I learned it's not in the meat section. It's not meat! lol I couldn't find it anywhere.
@@SteveCarmichael Mincemeat for the homemade Mince Pies, Yummy.
Stay safe my Friend,
Barry.
And for those who go 'extra fancy', add felt to the bottom of the drawers. Different colored felt in different drawers even.
I think I am going to try flocking the drawers. I already have the supplies, but did not have the guts to try it in this video in case I screw it up.
Great project! It looks more like a bandsaw box than cnc'd. The little bit of wiggle room in the drawers is the key for me. Looking forward to more from you in '21! Merry Christmas from me and mine to you and yours.
Thanks Mike! Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas Steve.
I hope that you and your family have a safe and wonderful day.
Thanks and Merry Christmas to you too!
Super cool Steve, I'd love an X-Carve, but I'll have to wait a bit longer unfortunately. Until then, I'll live vicariously through you and others on here 🙂
Hey, I suggest trying out EASEL.com since it's free. Since 90% of a CNC project is designing the project in the software so the machine can cut it, you can get ahead by learning that part now. If it's something small and simple that won't take a lot of time, you could send me the link to your project and I can cut it out for you.
@@SteveCarmichael ooh interesting, I'll play around with easel and see if CNC designing is for me. (I think it will be just quietly.) 😆
Thanks for the offer to cut, you're a gentleman!
Very nice, good to see more videos from you Steve. Merry Christmas to the Carmichaels.
Thanks Bob! Merry Christmas to you and your family as well! Happy New Year 2021!
Steve, I still like the bandsaw box you did awhile ago. For CNC owners , that would be a nice project for the girls in the family. Hope you have a great year in 2021.
Hey Mac! Thanks! Yeah, that older box was a real hit! I see them pop up everywhere on facebook and etsy. lol Now that the design is done, the machine could cut out a few per day for me if I wanted it to. I'm not very keen on cutting out multiples of a project with a saw. I lose interest after making one of something. Hope you and the family are doing well! Happy New Year!!!
Amazing work as always Steve ! It came out great ! Looks really unique ! Hope you and your family has a safe and Merry Christmas !
Thanks Tyler! Looks like you had a nice vacation at the beach. Enjoyed the pictures. Merry Christmas to you and your father and family as well! And Happy New Year 2021!
Nice work Steve! Merry Christmas- I always enjoy your videos
Thank you Glen and Merry Christmas!

Thank you and Merry Christmas!
Your very welcome Steve! Thank you :) Have a great weekend!😎
you are awesome!
Very good 👏🏻
Thanks SJV!
Wow very nice like it.
Thank you Tanya!
Merry Christmas Steve
Merry Christmas John!
I might try this on a scroll saw. Thanks Steve! New subscriber and really enjoying your videos. Merry Christmas!
Thank you Joanna! This would be a great scroll saw box project. If you make one I would love to see a picture. thecarmichaelworkshop@gmail.com Merry Christmas!
I love this project. But the boxes intended to receive the jewelry seem small for a necklace for example or a bracelet. Some drawers could be modified by merging one or more boxes thus giving more space to large jewelry?
I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year ♫♫ ♪
Hi Val! Yep, this box is for all the small stuff. At first I designed a variety of drawers with larger compartments, but my daughter asked me to make them all small so that she could separate her earrings into individual spaces. It would be pretty easy to double the size of the drawer opening, then cut the drawers in two layers that get glued together, but I was trying to solve the deep drawer issue. Thanks and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too!
Merry Christmas Steve, looking forward to new videos in 2021 👍
Thank you James! Merry Christmas!
Very nice and well done Steve! Wish you and your Family "Merry Christmas" and a good Start in '21. Regards Fritz :)
Thank you Fritz! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
good Steve, 💯👍👍👍 I wish you a Merry Christmas ❤️
Thank you Giovanni! Thanks for sharing my video! Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas ...👏👏👏vert good Job
Thank you Bruno! Merry Christmas!
Well, I can tell it must be winter and below 500 degrees in Hotlanta by the was the starving youngun beard is growing out. SWEET box there, Pal! A-PLUS and Happy Holiday and don't overload the person of yourself! GBWYall!
Hey Lewie! Thanks! Yep it has been in the 30s here lately. I may be able to play Santa next year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
@@SteveCarmichael You might get a snack from it after all! GBWYall!
Nice work as always Steve, I thought that was one of the Duck Dynasty guys when I clicked on the video.
You should flock the drawers. Great project
I have the black flocking and glue. I may do a separate video on that. Not sure if I want this box to be my first time though. Thanks Mick!
I was looking at getting X-Carve as well in the future. On your system it looked like you had a lot of space to cut everything at once? Would that have been possible?
Hey Michael! That's great. It's a fun machine. It really is rewarding to design something on the computer, then watch the machine cut it out, then see it all fit together like you pictured it would in your head. Pretty cool. I could have easily cut all the parts out at once from a sheet of plywood. Cutting multiple smaller boards in one go would be more difficult, but not impossible. You would have to position the boards at specific coordinates on the machine, then make sure your design has the parts placed at coordinates that would line up with the boards. Clamping might be a challenge to make sure the bit can travel around to different boards without hitting a clamp. Double-sided tape might be a good solution for that. Maybe I'll try that sometime. Also, cutting all the parts at once commits you to monitoring the machine for 4 hours straight. I've found that cutting each board separately ties me down for only an hour or so at a time, so that's actually nice in case I get interrupted or need to run an errand. Hope that helps! Steve...
👏👏👏👏🇲🇽
Thanks Juan!
Steve that’s a great project, well done.I was wondering where you got your stepped hold downs
Hey Eric, thanks! The clamps are from Inventables - www.inventables.com/categories/machine-components/clamping
how big of a work surface does it have?
Hey, here is that info. Note that the 65mm vertical cut height includes the material thickness, travel clearance, and bit length required for the depth of cut. inventables.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360012452474-What-is-the-maximum-size-material-that-can-be-carved-on-an-X-Carve
Cool looking box but a fan of hands on builds not cnc button pushing.
That's cool, me too! But it sure is fascinating to design something on the computer, then watch the machine cut it out and the project fitting together like I pictured in my head. I can understand it's probably not as fascinating to watch someone else do it I guess.

Hey 1!

Thank you Marc!
I'm Alone 😍😥
Aw, no you're not Lawrence. I'm right here!
does not look cnc made to me .
Cool, thanks Kyle! That was the plan.
Sorry, not a fan of CNC.
Hey Terry - That's alright. That's why I do mix of projects using different tools. I think with CNC, you really have to be a fan of designing and drawing on the computer more than anything. Probably not the most fun thing to watch, but it's fun to do. The plus side is now that the design is done, the CNC can cut out 2-3 of these per day for me if I decide to sell them.
@@SteveCarmichael Thanks for creating and posting on RUclips Steve, I really do enjoy the videos. and have learned a lot from your content.
