Thanks for the honest review I think everyone that is interested in these saws appreciates that. My mom wants one so im doing my best to find out what she needs to know before getting one. Honestly, I wish she knew how to operate a gas powered saw. I know its stinkier(and louder) but it would save her a tonne of money since we already own gas powered ones lol.
Good review BUT a little off. The Milwaukee M18 Fuel 16 in. Cordless Chainsaw is categorized as a MEDIUM DUTY chainsaw not a HEAVY-DUTY industrial chainsaw. It was not made to repeatedly saw through 17 inch thick Ponderosa Pines that are thicker than the saw's bar! A medium duty gas-powered saw would overhead and stop under the same conditions.
The rapid charger works amazing. Make the 7 cuts, change batteries, cut 7 more. That's 14. 14 x 5 (5 slipt pre section) thats 70 pieces. When moving and splitting that, both 12.0ah batteries will be charged
Milwaukee chargers work like this. The standard m18 charger is 3 amps. The rapid charger is 6. The super charger is 12amps. The 12 amp hour battery takes 1 hour on the super charger. The dual bay rapid charger charges two batteries simultaneously at 6 amps each. You can charge two 12ah batteries in 2 hours with the dual bay rapid charger. For fast charging you need the high output batteries or the faster charging rates may not apply.
Battery is not dead! When the saw heats up, the saw stops. You’re working that saw pretty hard. I have the same saw and get 80-100 cuts from 4-6” dead standing trees.
So what you are saying is 90 cuts of a 5 inch in diameter tree equals 1767 square inches of cut area, and what I cut in the video was 7 cuts at 17 inch diameter which equals 1588 square inches of cut area. This is a reasonably close comparison, actually - especially if you let the saw rest between cuts.
@@DanSarahMakers Your math is correct BUT the physics behind it is TOTALLY wrong. You can cut the same square inches but the bigger the tree, the harder it has to work. the harder it has to work, the more battery it takes. Try this one day. Cut your 17 inch trees and then cut a 5" tree. You re going to get more cuts and longer life cutting smaller stuff. Basic science though.
If it was a heat cut-out it would have done so in a work session, not after a long break where it indicated roughly half battery before. That battery sounds scetchy.
@@shanevonharten3100 That would have been a possibility but not probable, especially added that he had it indicating empty in the middle of use, not indicating overheat but empty. I still lean towards the battery being faulty. Milwaukee makes great batteries, but even they can have a bad unit every now and then.
I don’t know if you will see this but you mentioned being able to use an generic scrench. There is one that is in the bottom of the saw that comes with it!
The last time we saw the battery was at minute 9:19....after cutting only 5 pieces. Did you switch batteries at minute 9:22? Is Sarah a part of this conspiracy ?
Nope, it was the same battery. You will just have to trust me on it. If you saw how many stupid takes I film to try and get my point across, you would be thankful I try to edit them out! Every video I do still has about 10 attempts to say the opening lines that get deleated. As far as the saw goes, I'm not a fan. I love my Makita 2x18V saw. I have several friends that have bought themselves one after trying mine. (Penny may have been in on it, not Sarah!)
Yes! There is one hiding down there; unfortunately, on this particular saw, it is impossible to remove without another screwdriver or wrench to pop it out.
Dan&Sarah Makers I filed my clips a little, and drilled a hole in the plastic so my finger could pry it out without wrestling with it. Works great! Mine is the M12 hatchet though. I LOVE IT!
Time check 3 minutes. 2 bars on battery. Go to lunch saw wont work. It's the chain brake. And you have no clue the "skrench" is actually part of the saw.. it stores on the bottom of the saw. Very convenient saw for its purposes. A great saw to keep by your BANDIT 19xp chipper
Time check 13:58. Watch the video. I would love to see a video of the 19XP in action. Seems like a 16" bar on an electric saw is a little undersized and slow for a 19" chipper's speed and capacity!
Considering the claim of 150 cuts of a 6”x6” cedar beam, that is 36 sqr inches per cut, each cut you made was nearly 200 sqr inches, that is much more draw of amps per cut. It would be interesting to see how long it would last on a smaller log. Still great test on a decent sized log, but be a great trail saw to clear trails while off roading. I also wonder if you got a weak battery, they are made in China after all.
@@leemobai762 crap??? Lol 😂 I've specifically ran Milwaukee tools on the auto industry for the last ten years. Never had a problem of any. And Ive alot of them

Just picked one up. The battery and rapid charger alone are worth it. Can’t wait to give this a go this summer.
Now that's a honest review. Thank you. I was planning to buy one. Will stick with 2 stroke
Pretty well clinches the 60v max 20in for me. Thanks for the video.
Appreciate this review, thanks! Good to see it in real world test.
Glad you liked it!

That is an option but I didn't have enough power cords to run the charger in the woods!

If battery voltage goes below 3.3 volts, it will never be able to hold a charge again. That's why it cuts itself off.
The bar tool is stored on the bottom of the saw in its own compartment. Why does this electric saw weigh more than a gas one?
How do you keep the chain from coming off? I have one and had 2 Atlas saws and they all have the same problem. Chain keeps coming off.
I red a some reviews and I noticed with some people having the problem with the chain coming off very often. Had you have the problem?

Yep! It's there, but dang is it a bear to get it out! You need a scrench to get the scrench out. 🙄

After using it one time mine leaks oil like a sieve. Any ideas how to fix?
Warranty repair
open the oil cap enough for it to depressurize before storing

Yes
I wouldn't recommend it at all, but yes... it'll last maybe 30 seconds
If you're cutting twigs.
Three 8ah or up with the rapid charger otherwise get a gas. The less you put in the less you get out.
I wonder why cutting chips and not your 16 in log pieces? Seems like a waste, but I know it's demonstration

Male sure the chain brake is off or it will seem as if battery is dead amd won't do anything
Cool, so I guess it works like all of my other gas and cordless chainsaws. Will make sure I check that if I ever try using it again!
Not really bud. You can hear a gas chainsaw if it's on even if the brake is on. Maybe your gas saws are different then mine

The whole wrench thing if you're cutting wood you got access to a twig stick that in there and then save it for tightening the chain.

Cut some hardwood for a real test
Now try green works. 90x the saw.
Should never have to do that much work while cutting.
