THROTTLE HANDLE FIX: John, a piece of thin plywood with notched finger cuts would allow you to index the throttle handle in as many slots as you can cut into the plywood. All you would have to do is twist the handle into a selected slot, high or low. Just a thought.

Your videos have become part of my Friday. I realized how much last week when no video was uploaded. I enjoy your videos, humor, content, and consistency. Keep up the good work. This video makes my Friday.
You may want to consider adding a fuse on the positive cable from the charge controller. If there's a short in that wire, the fuse inside the controller won't do anything to stop it from melting and/or causing a fire. Great video!
I think the fix for your Throttle problem is a perfect case for a 3D print. I think an L shaped "leg" that could be bolted down to the top and positions in such a way that holds the handle down at full throttle would work. It would also be nicer than the giant weight thing.
Throttle lock: How about a tab on the throttle shaft or handle that can be turned to latch under an inverted L attached to the box? It would be the same action as in lower throttle positions, with an external lock.
I was thinking something along the same lines, but using a "comb" next to the wall of the cab. Then he could push it to the level he wants and rotate it between which ever tines are at that level. So not an L but an E with the handle slotting into the gaps in the E.
Came to comment exactly this, you could do the E style and just turn the knob to lock it into whichever slot you want or you could just have ONE slot at the bottom for 100% throttle that you can turn the knob into but then turn it to get out of the slot and lock it into any other throttle level like normal.

you won't regret that solar charger. I did the same on my 7.5 tonne Hitachi mainly because the counterweight blocks all access to the engine (but is also much cheaper....). It is only 50watt and 12 volt so I have to swap from one battery to the other manually. I have angled the panel at 35 degrees to catch the winter sun and to shed dust and debris, so when it is parked up we face it north and it lives under an open barn that is open to the south. It's biggest test was two days working in a gloomy woodland and it passed that. Also useful when using it as a crane in the yard where it does lots of stop start working - you don't have to run it for five minutes each time you use it to top up the batteries.

You might want to check out BougeRV's solar panels...the flexible ones are super tough and can even be walked on without damaging them...could be good for this application. For the throttle...can you set the bottom adjustment nut as low as possible to see if that would give you the travel needed for high speed while still being able to lock it? I love hard drive magnets...I got tons of them all over the place...even use them to hold down tarps...the bigger 5.25" drive ones work very well for that job I swear that you have gremlins coming in at night who keep making new problems...that or a really big fan of your channel wanting continuous new content :)

Two thoughts I thunked.. 1.) You might want to think about putting a fuse on the battery end of those wires you attached. just incase that box grenades and creates a big sparkler! 2.) Since the gas lever is a 'T' handle you could make a board of slots and then the handle would turn into a slot and lock. Hrm.. Think of a gated shifter. Otherwise, Great job, great video!
A throttle handle from a boat would work good there. Any wire long enough would could replace it and fit between the pump and boat throttle handle. Regards from Sweden.
Jon, it's almost like you knew how much content you could squeeze out of this purchase. I'm not complaining just an observation. Large Marge just keeps on giving, what a girl!
Very interesting how the teeth are held on. I wondered if leaks would propagate because fixing one would exacerbate another, but I doubt it's that (especially slow leaks) I am glad you're decided on painting it when you've chased out all the issues, really looking forward to seeing this come together. that mechanism for the throttle looks interesting, I am trying to think how it works, but that is the best farm-hack i've seen hahaha great! Thanks!
You've come a long way with a machine that was totally clapped out and headed for scrap. I'm sure your very proud and your repairs are top notch as always. There was nothing wrong with the throttle cable other than it's being used wrong. That lock works as Intended as you pull the cable out to increase it's travel. Idle should be down and max RPM should be out. I'm sure over the years someone was in there to replace the cable and didn't get it right. Your problem is the connection at the Injection Pump. There's a bell crank or something missing to change the direction. TGP
I love the machine work. I started with doing brake rotors and drums, then I found a used lathe and enjoyed it ever since. It's an art few places will do anymore.
Great content thank you. As to filing nothing changes. Nearly 70 years ago we as young boarding school children, had to pass the filing course before getting onto learning about the lathe. Even though it was just evening hobby time, the teacher was professional in every way. Taught me well. Standards were really high with skills back then. Best wishes from the UK.
Thanks Jon. It’s nice to see someone able to stick his head inside the large machine as you were running the cables. I can’t imagine the difficulty of working on a skid steer with a smaller, much tighter design.

You might want to check out BougeRV's solar panels...the flexible ones are super tough and can even be walked on without damaging them...could be good for this application.
For the throttle...can you set the bottom adjustment nut as low as possible to see if that would give you the travel needed for high speed while still being able to lock it?
I love hard drive magnets...I got tons of them all over the place...even use them to hold down tarps...the bigger 5.25" drive ones work very well for that job
I swear that you have gremlins coming in at night who keep making new problems...that or a really big fan of your channel wanting continuous new content :)
Man, it seems that way sometimes! lol
18 years welding and 3 years so far becoming a plant mechanic so I watch every video you post if I can.
Put ya earth on the part your welding hahahaha! Makes 300% smoother weld 🤣❤️
It’s better to find out in the driveway you have a leak than to not know about it in the field and potentially run out of hydraulic fluid and ruin pumps and so on. Love watching your channel.
John you could have used your other excavators hydraulics hooked into the lines for the motor and ran it to look for leaks. Hopefully its good!!
FYI we would love to have watched you weld scrap together and paint it. ❤
Thanks for all the awesome content; I wish I had your knowledge!
Great content as always John! Also, finger wounds are the worst...Keep on keeping on!
Large Marg is the gift that just keeps on giving! Great video Jon thumbs up.
Thanks Jon, sometimes we are all on the struggle bus LOL.
I do enjoy your channel very much.
John needs a wrench, he just makes it! I have said it many times, this man is super duper talented y'all, a natural teacher!
Sooo... Large marge is now a deisel-electric hybrid??? :)
Thank you for all of your excellent content! It really is a high point of my week when I get to see a new video from you! It always inspires me!
Take care and all the best from California!🧡
Diesel. Rudolph's name should be capitalized.
Yay for more content :) Sorry you keep running into issues, but I for one, enjoy watching you solve them. :)
Genius move on the socket. Never would have thought to do that. Great job!
...also. Fiddley, is my new favorite technical term.
You should get some high vacuum grease for your o-rings. It keeps them lubricated, sealed, and will seal up minor variations in the surfaces.
Always time well spent with Jon. The struggle is real.
You've tranformed Large Marge from a rolling heap to a highly functional tool! Well done!
Just subscribed, can’t wait to see more of your content!
Great video, Jon. Watching you solve issues sparks me to do the same on a much smaller scale.
Man i hate having to revisit the samething. It is so annoying. But it unfortunately happens sometimes.
Big Marge is a fighter. Love the throttle hack, and the crow's foot.
I was thinking some sort of over center lever.
A throttle handle from a boat would work good there. Any wire long enough would could replace it and fit between the pump and boat throttle handle.
Regards from Sweden.
Good idea. I guess handbreak lever would work too.
Jon, it's almost like you knew how much content you could squeeze out of this purchase. I'm not complaining just an observation. Large Marge just keeps on giving, what a girl!
Large Marge is gonna getcha
Large Marge is back and in style! Could it be Large Marge was a European car in a past life (Fiat)????
Electronics by Lucas...
Thanks for adding the machining in, I really enjoy learning the basics from you. Thanks
Why are you pick a fight with your bandsaw bearhanded?
At least use a tire iron to have a chance 😂😂😂
It amazes me what farmers can engineer. I love watching you. Keep up the good work.
"I fought the saw and the saw won".
Very interesting how the teeth are held on. I wondered if leaks would propagate because fixing one would exacerbate another, but I doubt it's that (especially slow leaks)
I am glad you're decided on painting it when you've chased out all the issues, really looking forward to seeing this come together. that mechanism for the throttle looks interesting, I am trying to think how it works, but that is the best farm-hack i've seen hahaha great! Thanks!
Hard drive magnet? Goddamn genius.
Nah. More like desperately looking for a way to not have to make yet another crows foot! lol
I think your fix of the throttle is a great way of solving the problem…. Great work John ..
8:45 stupid like a fox 👍
I normally hate a cliffhanger ending but with any videos. But I look forward to watching your content every week, so I'll be tuning in!
Enjoy watching machinist work. At my old factory, Tool & Die makers were highly paid.
Thanks for the video John. Plan on an alternator, but the solar panel will make a great trickle charger to keep you ready to go.
You've come a long way with a machine that was totally clapped out and headed for scrap.
I'm sure your very proud and your repairs are top notch as always.
There was nothing wrong with the throttle cable other than it's being used wrong. That lock works as
Intended as you pull the cable out to increase it's travel.
John, I am enjoying every minute watching you struggle and thinking it’s not me😀
That throttle cable looks like a standard PTO cable. Your hydraulic shop should be able to source one for you
When making repairs like this use the shop vacuum in the hydraulic filler pipe to hold the oil back while working. I've used it for years.
The washer up against the nut flange without so much a hair's gap, was chef's kiss.
This seems like a perfect time to try UV dye. Is a great way of tracing small leaks when you dont want to open the system.
Where has Dozer been? Things go smoother when he helps!!
Thanks Jon. It’s nice to see someone able to stick his head inside the large machine as you were running the cables. I can’t imagine the difficulty of working on a skid steer with a smaller, much tighter design.
Here is an idea for your throttle handle. Weld a "ladder" to the box with the space between each rung allowing the handle to be turned in and locked.
I still say your name must be Job. Keep the videos coming, they sure are enjoyable.
