To give you an idea of how they impacted music over the generations, Barry Gibb (the man in the middle) actually provided coaching to Michael Jackson so he could continue to sing with a falsetto voice once he'd gone through puberty.
These three gentlemen were legendary even while they were recording and performing.

Disco was only a very small part of their style, as noted below. So much more to them than that. They are the best at harmonies of any group ever. No one sounded like them to this day. They wrote and performed for 40+ years. The greatest song writers, singers, and harmonies ever. Thanks for reacting. You should work your way through their incredible catalog. There isn't a bad song there.

Late to the replies.... still the Bee Gees WERE DISCO. They were there for its early years and PEAK and still successfully were there writing songs for others more into the 80s. Still Barry did his duet with Barbra Streisand etc. Disco may have had a short official run as such ... still it was still relevant in the Dance Club Music scene and as House Music term used into the early 2000s relevant as electronic dance music... think even Lady Gaga. Oh and the gay scene it never left in their clubs. Just wanted to note that the Bee Gees would be sadly less relevant if it was not for their DISCO ERA and top act leading the way.

People have a huge misconception about this group...... Barry only discovered his falsetto voice in 1975....... they have been making music since 1955 when Barry was 9 years old and the twins were about 6......they were officially named the Beegees in 1958....... their first ever no. 1 hit was in 1966 called Spics and Specks...... their first UK hit was in 1967 New York Mining Disaster 1941, their first UK no. 1 was Massachusetts in 1967 their first US no.1 was How can you mend a Brokeh Heart in 1971...... you should try some of their pre and post disco material to get a proper sense of their sheer genius.....BTW they never saw themselves as a disco group.....according to them they were just making R&B music that you could dance to.......

The Bee Gees are brothers who were born on the Isle of Man and then moved to Manchester. They then emigrated to Australia before moving back to the UK. They then moved to the USA. They have loads of songs over different genres and decades and sound just as good live as in the studio versions. They also wrote for other singers like Barbara Streisand etc.

He and the band we're on a tour bus openly mocking the entire disco craze and somebody put on the 8 track and the entire bus got suddenly quieter and quieter after every track. When it was over? There was 2 brothers oriniginaly
andy the youngest, went off on his own solo carrier sadly died of drugs
Then that left the 3 of them barry and the twins
both twins lost there lives very quick through ilness, one cancer and other on operating table, barry still sings solo
    often with his son
you will only get there reue talent by google, songs they wrote and sung, as well as songs they wrote for other artists
it will blow your mins compared to todays artists
    Great channel by the way

The Bee Gees were always just Barry & the twins (Robin & Maurice). The twins were 3 years younger than Barry, & Andy was 12 years younger than Barry. Because the age difference, Andy was never part of the Bee Gees....but had planned to join them sometime in 1988. Sadly he passed away that March from myocarditis, which was caused by years of drug use.🎶

As many has written, the disco periode from the Bee Gees was only 3 to 5 years, more precisely from 1975 to 1979. In this periode they wrote 14 numbe 1 singles on the billboard hot 100. that is if you include Woman In Love sung by Barbra Streisand. In the 60's and the early 70's they were more rock/beat/ballad/pop, noteable ballads being How Can You Mend A Broken heart, Words and I Started A Joke, Pop songs would be a like Massachussets, lamplight First Of May and More rock feel would be I've Gotta get A Message To You and a beat song would be World. From the Late 80's to their last album in 2001 they were more into Contemporary pop and more ballads.
They have even a Classical tune called Seven Seas Symphony and also some Jazz and Country song. My favorite would be Country Lanes from 1975 with Robin on lead ( The one on the left in this video), which is a country vibe song.

that all reached #1. Amazing Talents! 😉✌

    • @utha2665
      @utha2665 Год назад +1

There is absolutely no chance Barry Gibb is tone deaf, if he were he wouldn't be able to sing in tune. That is what tone deaf means, in fact I'd believe it more if you said he had perfect pitch. I'd also suggest that they are/were proficient musicians that could read and write music, their music writing abilities and their knowledge of harmony would suggest some training formal or informal. This is also supported by the fact that they wrote those 3 songs in a day from the Saturday Night Fever Album, Stayin' Alive, Night Fever and How Deep is Your Love. And I 100% agree, yes they were an amazing talent. It's such a shame only Barry is left now, they should have had a lot more years together.
