      I'm probably older than your grandfather but this was very popular and the Gibb brothers, Barry, Robin and Maurice, were very successful in the '60s '70s and '80s. Their falsetto harmonies were very distinctive and sold many millions of records (I have no idea how many!!) and were at the top of the record chart for many years. This was long before the electronic editing corrected for wandering voices and such. This was just pure talent!
      Unfortunately, much of these older recordings were from recording equipment that just wasn't up to today's quality. Some of my favorite recordings are from performers of the 1930s, '40s, and '50s. At the time I first listened to them, they were the best!! Now they sound a little "thin" and scratchy but I still remember how they used to sound. I still get out my old clarinet and play along with the jazz records from when I first learned to play back in the early 1950s. The guys from my old quartet aren't with us any longer but I still sing with our old recordings. In your memories, you'll never forget them!!
      You have another new subscriber! I'll be watching for your videos...

    Oh, you're really in need of history in modern music! They had massive hits and many Nr. 1 songs from the mid-sixties up to 2001. As songwriter, Barry Gibb has only Paul Mc Cartney in front of him, due to guinnesbook of worldrecords. Check'em out with 'To Love Somebody' (1968), 'Run To Me' (1972), 'Tragedy' (1979), 'You Win Again' (1987), 'For Whom The Bell Tolls' (1992), 'Alone' (1997) and 'This Is Where I Came In' (2001). Only seven songs out of nearly 1100, they wrote together (or Barry alone) for themselves and many other big stars like Barbra Streisand, Kenny Rogers, Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross or Celine Dion. Many stars like Rod Stewart, Take That, Janis Joplin, Leonard Cohen, Foo Fighters, Boy Zone or Beyonce covered songs of them. As Bee Gees, they sold over 300 million records worldwide. So dont forget, you're reactin' to the highest level of superstars which has ever been around.

      Barry in my opinion is way better than Mc Cartney. Hes only tops because hes a Beatle.

      @francisxray9900 2 года назад +12

      @@shannontaylor345 Ok, but I'm not so much in terms like better and so. I'm thinkin' there are always sort of better singers, musicians, songwriters, live performances, producers or bands to find. But in summit of it all, it's really unpossible to compare to Bee Gees. You're right with the fact that Beatles, Stones, Elvis, Queen, Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna and many others had been prefered by medias at all, meanwhile it's been kinda in, to joke about Bee Gees. But they jumped over all the hurdles, which were put in their way. That's real genius, and Sir Barry fits this role in a perfect way.

    Every 20 seconds a Bee Gee's song, or a song they wrote for another artist, is playing somewhere in the entire world 🌎 let that sink in, then you'll understand the God-level talent the Gibb brothers have.

  • @MockingBirdCanta
    @MockingBirdCanta 2 года назад +47

    The Bee Gees are the 3 Brothers Gibb.The head singer in this song (guy in the middle) is Barry. He was born in 1946. Robin (long blond hair) and Maurice (pronounced Morris) are fraternal twins born in 1949. Their career ran from 1958 to 2009. The twins have passed away, Maurice (2002) and Robin (2012). Barry is still alive at the age of 76, and still writing songs, performing, and putting out albums. One of the great things about the Bee Gees and their long career is that they were constantly growing and reinventing themselves.
    They have a younger brother Andy who performed on his own. He was just as talented.
    The Bee Gees wrote and produced for 1,000 songs. They have sold over 120 million records worldwide (with estimates as high as over 225 million records sold worldwide), making them among the best-selling music artists of all time. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997; the Hall's citation says, "Only Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks and Paul McCartney have outsold the Bee Gees." With nine number-one hits on the Billboard Hot 100, the Bee Gees are the third-most successful band in Billboard charts history behind only the Beatles and the Supremes.

He and the band we're on a tour bus openly mocking the entire disco craze and somebody put on the 8 track and the entire bus got suddenly quieter and quieter after every track. When it was over? The Bees Gees performed this song at The Music for UNICEF Concert: A Gift of Song. It was a benefit concert of popular music held in the United Nations General Assembly in New York City on January 9, 1979. It was intended to raise money for UNICEF world hunger programs and to mark the beginning of the International Year of the Child. The concert was videotaped and broadcast the following day on NBC in the U.S. and around the world. The Bee Gees gave UNICEF rights to all royalties from the song. It's raised about $13 Million for UNICEF thus far.

They also had a younger brother, Andy, who as a matter of fact sounded just like they did. Often the three brothers would sing backup to Andy's songs. Yes, they were romantic, but their talent went further. And that's one of the things I miss about 70s music, is the overall talent and variety of artists and groups. Whether it was rock, pop, folk or somewhere in between. Incredibly capable and studied musicians, and there were so many of them!

    I know others have already said it, but yeah, The Bee Gees are monoliths in terms of American and world music history, they and Abba and The Jackson 5 were all paving the way during the time (along with several other artists of course)
    But yeah I do agree, the harmonies are what make this song so phenomenal, that was their thing.
    The fact that they are doing this all in analogue and using raw vocals, as MALES, that’s an incredible accomplishment - and far underrated today as it’s become the standard to enhance to cut back on studio time in an attempt to reach digital perfection. This is analogue perfection, something on a whole other level that modern music lacks in such a depressing way. I’m a male vocalist, and these guys are some of my heroes, along with Prince and Michael Jackson and all the greatest artists/performers of all time. The Bee Gees were beyond talented, they’re absolutely magical. These types of artists are why don’t use auto tune - that raw harmony sounds incredible live and the melodies sounds so much better when you can hear the natural glide in the voices imo (and objectively speaking if you check the studies on how humans react to natural vs digital too tbh) but hey, everyone has different ears. Just my opinion (with science lol)

    Yeah, the pants were really tight back then, my husband used to say it was to show off his bird. As for the falsetto the early Bee Gees had way less, they used the falsetto voice more when they hit the disco era.

    And they could do this live - even later on in their careers. Look out for their "One Night Only" concert which was recorded of which there are many clips on YT and they have do a medley of bits of songs, just the 3 of them, 1 microphone (much like this video) and Barry playing guitar. One clip in the medley is from their track "Nights on Broadway" and the live falsetto harmonies are spine chilling they're that good.

    This was the fashion at this time, all men/boys wore it (thank god not the older/old 😁), and it also was the time of disco, where you danced also very close together to love songs, so you could feel a lot!😆😂

    @Bisscute So check this out beautiful, the group the Bee Gees were brothers. All 3 brothers have falsetto range which made them that more talented. The Bee Gees have been recording as a group since the early 60's. The group became even more popular in the 70's. Their music could easily stand up today in rotation on most Radio stations. Sadly, Barry Gibb the lead singer is the only brother still alive. The youngest brother Andy Gibb not in the group, but a great solo artist in his own right passed away first. Maurice Gibb passed away then Robin Gibb passed away leaving only Barry and his sister Leslie.
