    72+ years...since the first day...I opened my eyes* and ears*..... to listen to creations of this magnitude...still amazes me!!! How...just how...did they ever come up with the notion to put all these sounds and lyrics together.... and leave these Tunes as their Legacy!!! Certainly...they were touched* by a Power...much Greater than we can ever imagine.

    • @josbar2835
      @josbar2835 Год назад +2

      I agree they were great musicians and lyricists with quite a gift. To say they were "touched by a greater power than we can ever imagine" is to disregard the humility in the lyrics of their music.
      I have been listening to their albums from Meddle through to the Division Bell and I chose to listen closely to their lyrics, not just the music. In fact, for a class I took in Creative Writing, I had an assignment to choose a song to recite the lyrics without conforming to the music. Why? To show that good song lyrics stand apart as a worthy poem aside from the music. I chose Eclipse form DSOTM.
      Since then, I have paid attention to the lyrics, not just the music. Pink Floyd has some incredible music, but you might also notice that their trend has been to write darker and darker, sadder and more depressing songs over the years.
      Take the light, feel-good music of Meddle, expecially A Pillow Of Winds, Fearless and St. Tropez and contrast that with The Final Cut and Two Suns In The Sunset and the Gunner's Dream, The Hero's Return and pretty much the entire Division Bell album.
      Pink Floyd has been focusing more and more on what is wrong with society. To say they were touched by a power is to ignore what they are saying about humanity as a whole. We all need to be touched by something positive, but too many are ignored.
      One of my favorite songs about compassion and empathy is "The Turning Away" from the album A Momentary Lapse Of Reason. I love that song. It does not take "being touched by a power greater than we can imagine" to develop compassion and empathy for others.

    I saw Floyd w/ my two best friends Lori and Diane back in June of 77 in Chicago's Soldier's Field. What a concert, I think we had about 100,000 people jammed in that stadium. Floyd was the only band playing, I literally got lifted up when they opened the gates I think it was AM, and I'm a big guy. We all ran to the front by the stage, My friends and myself were very lucky, we were at about the end zone in the middle right in front of the stage. There is actually a soundtrack people recorded, not the best, but it sure brings me back to that fateful day that changed my whole outlook on life. Thanks Floyd, you are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I've been listening to Pink Floyd for so long. Back when I was just a kid. I'm no longer a kid but I'll never stop bringing their music to my "head"🤩

    The album cover art is just amazing. it looks like a robot shooting a gun into the sky, then you look again and see it's a robot shaking hands with another robot in the sky. not to mention the other amazing parts of the message in the image... or the amazing song to go with it. pure art all around : )

    Being an old chap from this era of music, I don't usually go along with what are, in my world, untouchable classics being "altered" BUT I must say that you've done a really top job with this one. Great effort, thank you and Chapeau!!!

      I was teen in the 70's and there was just sooooo much amazing music. I can't really imagine anyone not liking the best of Zeppelin, the Stones, Queen, Yes, etc. I think it's timeless genius on a level with Mozart, Bach, Tommy Dorsey, Bennie Goodman, Elvis, Ray Charles, and others who will never be forgotten.
