Thank you so much for this tutorial. Great instructions and explanation as you go. I've got a doorway in my basement that cannot fit a normal door (or french doors) and also cannot have a pocket door put in without a lot of extra work. A set of bifold doors will likely be my solution. My panels will likely be 1/4" ply or mdf to add strength and durability since these will function as actual doors versus closet doors. Cool idea to use a CNC. I will probably make laser-cut overlay panels.

I followed how you made these and it came out great. I used some thin lauan for the panels which worked out great. I used 1x4 for the stile at the bottom and 1x3 for the stile at the top. I added a mid stile since the lauan is so thin, also used 1x3 here. 1x2 for rails and sandwiched everything together. Word of warning, make sure the brads you use are far enough from the edge not to be in the path of the rabbit bit. If you have enough clamps I’d do that too. I don’t have a planer, but it would certainly have helped. The kit I got for hardware was Everbuilt from Home Depot, their instructions are ok, but have a contradiction in width, step 1 says make the width 1/4” less than the opening, step 3 said bake it 3/16” less. I went less giving I can always remove a little more later, should have picked 1/8” less per panel really. Still more of a gap than I’d want.
