I live right out side of Knoxville, and I may have to go pay them a visit and buy a new TKX for my Fox, I had no idea they where in my back yard, Thanks Dude.
Finally, I’m building a 1930 Ford 2 door Sedan Hot Rod with a Heidts stage 3 chassis. I’m running a built SBC. It’s hard to find the right clutch linkage to fit a Chevy bell housing in a 90yr old ford. This TKX with their hydraulic clutch kit is my answer. I need to call them to see if they carry the Wilwood floor mount clutch and brake pedal combo. I also want a steel bell housing for drag racing. Plus I need a taller shifter for a old flat floor hot rod. I need to call them and have them put a package together for my Model A Hot Rod. So glad I found this video. It’s a pain buying parts from a half dozen companies just to install a new transmission and not know if it will all work once you get it together. You always miss something. These guys have everything figured out before you get it. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🏁🏁🦅🦅
I ordered a TKX transmission about 2 weeks ago for my foxbody and I can't wait to get it. I was googling for more info on it and this video sold me on the hydraulic clutch conversion too.
Nice tour of the facility. Excellent customer service by SST. I'm in the process of installing a TKX in my Barracuda. Only downside is I have to wait until the snow is gone to try it out 😞. Thanks for the video. Best Regards - Mike
The TKX is a game changer. My tko600 is way to big and heavy. I miss the day of the T5s could bench those so easy compared to the GOT DANG TKO600 about killed me last clutch change
Silver Sport is awesome! I bought their bellhousing for my ‘79 Trans Am...doing a LS1 mated to the original T10 4spd. I know they didn’t cover it but that Chevy LS bellhousing he mentioned in the video also has the new LT bolt pattern casted/drilled in. Crazy you can bolt a 60’s-70’s 4spd to a 2021 LT1/LT4 engine these days. Lightweight compared to a big 6spd transmission 🙌
I got the TKO600 from Liberty gear/modified “pro trans” with the 5.0 shifter. This is an awesome trans in my 72 chevelle.took some modifications to make the conversion but well worth it.If I ever do another I’ll probably go with the new TKX though!!!
I cancelled my TKX order with American Powertrain after seeing THIS VIDEO and how well organized and 1 stop shop they are. AP kept in tacking on shit, no organization, oh yeah, you'll also need this ($300 here). Oh yeah, I spaced it, you'll need this also, (300 there). Then I asked, what is this, the Mopar tax? He said yeah, Mopar tax. That didn't sit right with me, I then realized my estimates through silver sport we're going to my spam folder and I found the estimates, everything was pretty cut and dry as far as everything included to make it 100% bolt up kit, almost a hundred dollar difference minus driveline of course
Nice job with the tour! But, someone PLEASE give that guy trying to get in touch with his inner WWE wrestling persona a dang Snickers bar or something... LOL
I purchased one for my 1968 Mustang GT500 and I would buy one for my 1968 Charger but I heard you had to cut the transmission tunnel for it to fit so I wont be doing that mod unfortunately.
this transmission is really the Legend 700 from a few years ago where the company went bankrupt ,it looks like Tremec bought them made some improvements and put their name on it
@@drjotting I’ve only come across the McLeod hydraulic clutch. I wonder if there is a cheaper one. I’ve seen a universal kit on ebay, but I know better not to get it. 😂
if it fit without having to move the frame spport back 3", I'd have already ordered this for my 65 Musatng coupe, why does that top plate in front of the shifter, have to be so High as to interfer with the cross member support, Will this work with the factory Bellhousing?
Just went on their site to buy the fox body pedal kit that works with the automatic pedals - says there's nothing for my car. Tried clicking through the store and many different ways to get to the product - doesn't come up. Would love to buy that kit today! 1991 Mustang LX 5.0 AOD car here - getting ready to swap to a manual.
I have a 1998 cobra with the stock t45. Would the stock bell housing and drive shaft work with the tkx I wonder? Also I have BBK long tube headers would I need to take off 1 header when doing a clutch change with the tkx
The bell housing on a t45 is integrated to the transmission as part of its front cover so u would need to get a bell for the TKX and u should be able to use your stock drive shaft but change the front yoke that would be supplied in a TKX kit. And I wouldn't think you would need to rovove a header to replace the clutch
The TKX has "cups" for the shifter in both the front and rear of the shift tower. It can be mounted in either orientation; what they show here is perfectly valid.
Thank you for awesome videos I'm new to the channel two weeks ago Friday my wife surprise me with a Foxbody my second one in 20 years I have the 4.6 is tired and leaking oil I guess it's coyote time please private message me or somehow I can get a list of what I really need I like to get an exact list if possible I know you're very busy but I appreciate all your help
The best answer i can give is to give Silver Sport a call and they would be able to tell you everything you would need so u can have a better idea for when ever you would be ready. The sales people are also tech people and they don't work on commission so there won't be any pressure, they are always happy to help out.
The transmission alone is about $2800 not including if it won't mate up to your bell housing. I had to get the bell housing, a different clutch disc (going from 10 spline to 26). Plus all the other goodies in the kit. All in all it costed around $3700
@Frank Bonazza III my thought was buying gforce gears, rebuild kit and synchronizers for my busted transmission was gonna come close to that. Plus if I ever blow my 347 I'll switch to an LS and I can switch bellhousings and mount it right up to an LS.

Not for nothing but I am I’m open to markets but why is it that are most popular transmission has a big stamp that says made in Mexico again nothing wrong but I’m just saying these transmissions are pretty expensive so what are we paying import tax
If I was to guess by the looks of the construction the TKX may hold more than its current 600lb continues rating, since its new its safer to rate at a lower number till it proves its self in time
No The Super Duty T5s are a great trans. Everything depends on how you intend to use it. If you’re not drag launching , power shifting or running gummy tires the T5 will live happily behind a 500HP combo with zero issues. The TKX is an awesome trans but it does get expensive to convert to one on a Foxbody. It requires a new bell housing, clutch and driveshaft yoke to install it. You’re looking at around $3,300 going the cheapest route possible to install one. Had this dilemma myself as I was considering installing a TKX in my T-Bird. Unfortunately living in Canada the exchange rate, taxes and brokerage fees to purchase one and all the supporting parts I noted above meant I was looking at just shy of $5K CAD to do it. I ended up getting a new T5 and used the more than $2K CAD I saved to buy some other speed parts instead.
