Personally, I do love what minimalism is and its ideology, yet I've always wondered why there are so many videos posted by "minimalists" bragging on how many items they have, how empty their rooms are and eventually how minimalistic they are, just as materialistic people often do. Your word of "minimalism is not a competition" really hits me, I totally agree with you, man.
Much appreciated! It is something that I had to come to terms with myself. Initially, I caught myself comparing myself to others with regards to minimalism but eventually came to the realization that it was completely counter productive. Wishing you the best!
Haha! Collections are hard. Overall, I wouldn’t focus on the number of things you own, as long as you’re honest about what you want/need to be content, own what helps you meet that.
1) Pocket knife 2) Phone 3) Wallet 4) Ring 5) Glasses I'm on a minimalist journey. I'm not quite there yet, but I've gotten rid of a lot of stuff that I realized I wasn't using much, if at all. I will never get to below 100 items, simply because I have many hobbies that bring me a lot of joy, but I am busy becoming more minimalistic in those hobbies. I am an avid fisherman, so as an example, instead of me having a box full of 100 lures I barely use, I have five lures that I always use, and I know catch fish. Same with my fishing rods. I now have a few rods and reels that fulfill multiple roles (not always perfectly I should add), instead of many rods and reels that only fill one specific role each.
I am right there with you. Minimalism / intentional living is going to look different for everyone. One of my hobbies is making these videos, and I realized that I only really use two camera lenses, but have half a dozen sitting on a shelf. So, on to eBay they went and hopefully to people who will use them for more than decoration.
1. iPhone 2. Airpods 3. Battery Pack 4. Rucksack 5. Coat So basically it’s like literally only 100 items? Anything that’s decor, photos on walls even if you don’t use them but they sit still if I want it out it counts? But I take it furniture like: Bed, wardrobe, bedside table don’t count?
Solid list. You can define the rules how you want, as long as you are being intentional. For me, since I am married, I defined the challenge as 100 personal items. So, things like pictures hanging on the wall and the couch are ours, while my tooth brush is mine. Even if not married, you could think of it in a similar way, imagining if you were married or lived with roommates.
Fellow RPCV here (Senegal 16-19) and I also got into living with less. I'm trying to curate and consolidate my possessions to what is important. I miss the PCV days of having just a few very useful things.
Fan? I take it that it's warm where you live? Also, I've been meaning to buy an air fryer. I was opposed at first but now I want one so I don't have to use the oven and heat up my house so much.
1. Macbook 2. Camera 3. Hard-Drive with all Data from a movie I work on since years 4. A Film-Award I won 5. Superman Action Figure from 1984 Supercool Video! Well spoken and super produced! Hey from Germany! I live as a Minimalist since 2014. I do not know the number, but its is not much stuff I own :-) Minimalism is supercool :-) My Minimalism is nearly the same like in this Video. In 2020 I am still in the "Game" of minimalism :-) Wait ---- 2100 Subs only?!? Such a super Channel need more Subs!
Excellent list and thank you! I just hoped over to your channel and watch a few videos. I don't speak German, but you have a beautiful cinematic quality to your videos. I'm early on my minimalist journey, but hope to grow into it more with time (and maybe my channel will grow along with it).
@@TylerLloyd Thnaks a lot! Because my Channel stopped growing some day I shot some Videos with my Smartphone :-) Only my older Videos are OK. Minimalism is so awesome! After downsizing I now live in small room. And I started to lean a lot about investing. It is very very interesting which "Object" increase in value and which not. And: Why :-) Value always is an illusion. Bitcion is an illusion. Stocks and Comics, Money.... But people believe in it. It is funny to "work" with that know how :-)
My top five and why? 1. Phone: communication, maps, camera journal, gaming 2. Walkman: music stored my memories (I remember every moments thru the song and lyrics) 3. Laptop: as my TV, digital photo album, library 4. Shoes: for trailing, hiking, other sports 5. All-in-one soap: I love myself and all my possession stays clean Nice video btw, keep it up! ☺️
My five things: 1.) Glasses. Can't function without them. 2.) Laptop. Where I write, journal, watch TV and movies, read 3.) Wallet. I need to downsize this though. Looking for something small and can comfortably hold everything I need. 4.) Hoodie. They are like a comfort blanket for me. 5.) Medication. For obvious reasons.
i need to do this challenge. I feel like minimalism might help with my perfectionist side. Things will be easier to organise and take care of and then maybe I won't procrastinate as much. If that makes sense... thanks for your videos :).
You should try it! I often find myself cleaning/organizing as a form of procrastinating for less desirable things. With less possessions, there is only so much time I can spend avoiding the harder stuff!
Hi September Sky, I struggle with perfectionism too. Tbh while this might help, and hope it does, consider whether you are getting to the root of the issue (ie where does perfectionism stem from).
I feel this for sure. I’m nowhere near my minimalism goal of having everything (except for sports gear and club apparel, musical instruments, books, work/college necessities and furniture) fit in one bag. Which is very extreme and might not be right for me, but we’ll see. Anyways, since I’ve started clearing out stuff regularly, I’ve found that my small living space is becoming more and more spacious, less distracting, much more organised and feels more personal. It’s been taking away so much daily stress, especially when it comes to clothing or hygiene products and whenever I pack to go out overnight or when I have people over.
minimalism inverses piggybacking. what is piggybacking? buy a bike, then you need a helmet, a water bottle, a lock, a better seat, I can go on. when you minimize, you have less stuff so less piggybacking of items. the thing with minimalism is it reduces stress and obviously cost
I don’t disagree and have removed so many functions that it isn’t all that smart at this point. The only thing I really like is the vibrating wake-up alarm. What’s your main opposition to them?
137? Did I say that somewhere? The challenge was mostly to help me see how little of what I own I actually need and use. After that challenge I did a major purge of stuff.
I wore the exact same t-shirt for 100 days: ruclips.net/video/uuqNc2H067c/видео.html. Is it the ultimate minimalist wardrobe?

Great content🙌
Glad you think so!
phone, laptop, bed, bike, camera
Great list. I guess I should have included my bed... 😆
what if I have 100 action figures. is that considered 1 item if they are all the same kind of action figure? lol
Haha! Collections are hard. Overall, I wouldn’t focus on the number of things you own, as long as you’re honest about what you want/need to be content, own what helps you meet that.
1. Bible, 2. crochet hooks, 3. sewing machine, 4. laptop, 5. a book that read several times

My phone wasn’t in the top five but my childhood popples was 😅 priorities I guess lol
Maybe better priorities!

Bonjour mon ami RPCV! I'd like to serve again, when older and with my wife. When life seems to busy and frantic, I wish back to my days in village.
kid's photos, ninja foodi, laptop, iphone, fan

Thanks! It’s been a process learning that less is more, but it has been rewarding.

Agreed! We purchased our first home this year and have lots of DIY projects and recent purchases, each with piggybacking items.
Hope to win the giveaway 🤩
Best of luck!
Ay nice video 🔥❤️🙏
Much appreciated!
You really, really have to start from getting rid of your smartwatch.

@@TylerLloyd Great to hear.
Notifications, sleep tracking, reminding you to excercise, do this, do that, breath, stand etc.
Excellent video-thanks!!
Glad you liked it!
Top 5:
1. Cellphone
2. Laptop
3. Journal
4. Pen
5. Pets
Great list! What pets? 😊 🐶 🐱
@@TylerLloyd 4 cats and a dog
Cut it in half go with 50 items now
Yikes! It can be done. Rob Greenfield has something like 30 possessions total that he carries around in a backpack.
Wears a mask outdoors
You mean in the common areas of my apartment building, as required at the time? Yes, I did.
So basically through not counting your other 137 things you only have 100 things. 🤔
