I was born August of 1995 in Ohio. I now live in North Carolina. I am a mechanical engineering for a tire company and I have been a professional open-format club / mobile DJ since 2012. Hey man this video was super informative, helps me out a lot and I’m definitely gonna get the same kit for my 3rd gen!!! Thank you!!
My dream truck, man. A year and a half from now, I’ll be rewatching all your videos for my first truck purchase
By then the 4th gen will be out.
@@TacoRick hopefully it will be out
@@andrewbaker5972 are you able it your truck on your garage after your lift?
It’s been a year and half
Got your truck yet
@@JuanManuel-fm9jt it’s been 1 year
2:45 hit the nail on the head. I’m just getting a front leveling set to matchup to the stock rears on my Tundra. One of my kids gets carsick due to the “wavy-ness boat” like feel, especially the nose dive at the stop. No one talks about this on a higher car (she doesn’t get sick in sedans). This will hopefully solve my issue on my Tundra. Thanks for mentioning less nose dive and addressing this.
Man looks so good!!
On the 3.5" inch vertex coilovers does anyone know the min.-max height adjustment for these? I hear they come set at 3" inches out of the box.
Are the steps more usable then when stock because I want to do the same but I want to see if my steps will be usable
Hey man, do you need to install upgraded UCAs when doing a 3inch lift? Noticed you left your stocks ones on.
Nope. Just struts but 3 inch is the max for the stock ones. A lot of people go ahead and upgrade the UCAs normally because there going to go bigger down the line.
Hey Rick great video. I got a 2021 TRD off road, double cab, long bed in cement on order. Planning on the exact same lift installed by the dealership. Gonna install 285/75/16s ko2 on factory wheels and I’m not a off roader only a few gravel roads while hunting. Am I gonna have many rubbing issues? By the way no mud flaps. Thank you for the great video.
I think you should be fine with that setup on 16 rims.
I thought it was a 3 and 1/2-in lift not three? They advertise it currently as a 3 and 1/2-in lift is it a different lift or when you bought it was there a three and a three and a half?
what’s the max tire size? what do you run on this lift? about to purchase this lift kit.
Hey would a Toyota tacoma be a good truck if you don't necessarily need a full size pickup. I already have a 2017 Toyota Camry as my daily driver. I just what the uses of having a truck bed and I rarely tow anything.
Possibly but the bed ain't that big.
Hey Rick whats the biggest size tires and brand you recommend me to put on my new 21 Trd off road with the stock suspension that won’t rub?
The stock size.
What does the the door jam sticker recommend for tire PSI? What PSI do you run with your current setup?
I think it says 35. I run around 35 to 40. Try to stick with 38.
I went with 275 70 17 with a leveling kit. No rubbing
What kind of headlights are those?
Okay so I plan on using my factory wheel and need to get a good tire set. What would you suggest. I also have a 2 in. lift o n my taco.
I cant really say. I work for a tire company... so I am impartial
@@doda7443 I just ordered the same size and tire brand to use on my stock wheels along with RC 3in lift glad to see your review. Did you have to change upper control arms?
Hard to watch with full volume and undivided attention right now so I have to ask, did you have to do any cutting/trimming to fit those wheels/tires? Also what’s the offset on your wheels? Thanks.
No and see video for size details.
Taco Rick Thanks man I watched it once I had some alone time, good review!
I have 2007 got same tire set up getting same suspension set up my truck for jam says 29 psi tires good for 80 psi what psi are you running
35 to 38
Did you have any problems getting an alignment without having any aftermarket uca's?
No issues
Were front coils included? I'm seeing people resuing OEM coils, but kit has new coils pictured.
You have to reuse the factory spring. And you just replace the strut
Can you fit 33” tires with -12 offset ? I have icons right now but they feel too stiff so i dont think they are worth the $ they cost and they leaked once after 30k or less miles so i had them rebuilt and not even 20k miles into them and they r starting to leak again
Dang. They might fit but will run for sure
@@TacoRick what size tires are you running with those shocks ?
Hey taco Rick. Been following you since the 2018 taco. Have these been reliable ? I noticed on the forums there is a lot of hate for the rough country.
Running what 3 years now. About 110k now no issues
@@TacoRick thanks for the response man. Take care.
I’m thinking about the add a leaf package. Do you think spacers or leafs would be better long term?
Add a leaf would be better long term
This 2020 trd off road premium package you got come with front view camera?
No thats separate option
Does the 3 inch lift mess with the Cameras? I have the Overhead view and was wondering if the 3 inch lift would mess with any of them?
Great question. I dont have cameras
@@TacoRick look at your rear view mirror. there is a camera. look at your rear view from the outside the truck. I can see it at the start of your video.
Any issues with needle bearing as of yet? I'm considering this lift and considering just doing it at the same time....
Thanks
Nope. 120k now on it
What part of NC are you in? I’m in Wilmington with a 2015 Taco.
Greensboro
Damn I had a rough country 3 inch lift on my 99 grand Cherokee and it was terrible so I’m kinda scared to buy another one from them
Luft systems have came a long way over the years
@@TacoRick I see and I’m liking what I see brother because all I do is drive from Long Island to Florida once or twice a month to fish little off roading wen I drive on the beach or go camping
That's a great new for me, i installed the exact same RC lift kit on my 2nd gen Tacoma but with 285/70/17 (basically 33") NITTO RIDGE GRAPPLER just a month ago and i love it...
I hope i do have the same experience as you and can say the same in the future 🙏
So after 4 months what can u tell us? How you like the ride?
@@alania2012 Let me tell you that i have not complains at all, still like the first day, driving 60 miles per day and i went offroad twice and I still loved...
At the beginning I was little worried cuz a lot of videos talking bad about this RC lift kit, but in my personal experience they are very good on highway, city and offroad 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for ask...
@@YolitoElDuro thanks for the info I’m about to get new tires and rims for my tacoma since lot of people don’t recommend is hard to tell if is good idea or not
@@alania2012 You welcome, go ahead and do it, trust me you gonna loved, don't be afraid about, what he said on this video is all the truth 💪
@@YolitoElDuro hey did you have to cut or trim anything with this tire size? What’s the offset on your current rims?
Do I need to change my upper control arm ?
Nope
With either of your tacos did you have the needle bearing issue with this lift?
Nope
Can you do a towing review please!
On the list
Hows the qaulity? Did it came with UCA? How ur CV axles since the truck is lifted? Any vibrationz from 60-80 mph? Any squeaky noises?
And what are your tire specs?
I go over all that in the video. CV axles are like normal since I put a 1 inch dif drop in
I know it’s old, but curious on the squeaky noises, I’m currently having those in my 4runner 2023. Nothing really noticeable but one could hear it from inside when pass speed bumps, it’s normal? @tacorick
I got the 3 inches N3 rough country kit with UCA and 33s BF Goodrich KO2
@@anthonymaltese280 check your UCA and front radiator support bushing. The cab bushings
By you saying their firmer might have talked me out of it. I had Bilstein 5100 and am not happy. To firm. What % firmer would you say?
It's about the same as the bilstein 5100. I have road in a taco with those. The bilsteins have more travel and are a little better at sudden bumps then mine. If you want softer right then that look at an adjustable ikon setup so you can dial in the ride quality you want.
@@TacoRick I have ICON now. Non adjustable. Don't like them. Around town is firm and on highway its soft. =(
That's tough man....
Cat5 Tracker I’d say you’re pretty picky if you don’t like the Bilstein or Icon
@@cat5tracker581 I've just heard good things about both and know a lot of people use them. Picky isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's good you know your stuff. What is a good option based on your knowledge, FOX?
what is the MPG now with the lift?
The lift isnt what effects the mpg. The wheels and tires is what lowers it. The bigger the wheels and heavier the tires the worse the mpg. With that set my setup averages around 14 to 16 mpg.
How did this lift affect your mpg’s compared to stock?
The lift by itself didnt affect the mpg. The bigger wheels and tires is what affects the mpg. And that will vary on what you pick. Mine showed a 4 mpg lose compared to stock
How does a lift affect warranty?
Not really proven as its a Toyota so no one really has had to file a claim
How did you put so many miles?
100 miles a day to work. All my DJ gigs tend to be 30 minut to hour long drives. I get around. Lol
Are you still using this? Hows it handling?
Absolutely! Another 10k moles since nice video. Handles same as before.
@@TacoRick awesome, thanks for the update bro.
This is probably a dumb question, but how tall is it from the ground with the lift kit
Not sure. Enough that you hop to get in
Is a diff drop necessary?
Debatable but personally by doing a diff drop you retain your front axle angles much better. Which puts less wear and tear on them and the front diff.
@@TacoRick ah that makes sense, thanks man
You put 5k on her already?! I just hit 47k on my 2013 LOL
I drive a lot
My 2013 got 140,000 😂
I just traded in my 17 with 103K lol Im at 60mi rn with my 21.
have u offroad with this suspension
Mild off roading
Did you drop the diff
With the spacers I mean
Yes
Yes
Why buy an Off-road if you’re never going to offroad it? Especially with an off-road lift kit?
Lol. I dont off road in the normal sense of the term. But i sure as hell go to a lot of country back road dirt venues to DJ that require all wheel or 4 wheel drive. The life and tires and all have got me out of some sticky situations many times
When your front tires hit a bump dose it like jerck your steering wheel!!!!!!!
No?
@@TacoRick MIne dose
how much did it cost
The lift. $550
@@TacoRick no way really I was thinking 3k or something crazy
I spent 3k total for lift tires and rims.
Lift kits are not expensive in terms of parts its the labor side. Which is why I did it myself and there is a video showing how I did it if your interested
Just put duratracs on my jeep wrangler ,steering is better ,less drift..
Do you get a tire discount with your company? If you don't want to answer that I get it haha.
Yep. My 5 duratraks installed was 800. I'll let you figure out the discount.
Tell me it handles well on a 5+miles of washboard 😂😂😂😂
Yep it does
I’m not used to u talking about cars
I get jealous at nicer Tacoma’s sometimes. Then giggle when I see people living in apartments dropping money on their truck.
I just moved to this state. Not buying a house till I am here permanently.
What’s wrong live in a apartment? Is your money can do whatever you want ,
What a sad human you are, lmao. At least he's happy, worth a lot more than the equity you've got in your sad ass home buddy
@@twentyonetoone9783 it’s paid off actually
This guy really has no clue what he is talking about at all....
Very true.
You talk too much
Yeah should just stop talking
