I know that this is an old video but I had the same problem but it might help others to check this. I had the same generator on the back of my semi and in the middle of the winter the problem started. When I got home I found that my battery had expanded like a balloon. I replaced the battery and that fixed the problem. Don’t know why the battery done that so good luck

It’s the automatic choke. Common problem. Best bet is to search for the fix. Something about a quick disconnect wire gets knocked off during shipping or something…..hope it helps

    It’s the choke wire.

I bet if you took out the pilot jet and cleaned it, the generator would run perfect. Took a few generators apart myself and that was a common problem. Just thinking out loud.

Your cooler has two settings one so it uses less voltage to run and the other is an economy mode. Just hold settings until the H blinks and press until it highlights L then after it stops blinking press settings again once then press again to show ECO after all that just unplug the cooler then plug it again.

Yes it did, but I've upgraded since then. Thanks for watching and commenting!!

@@kdlhotshotrv cool by the way your generator has a cable that goes to the stepping motor on the carburetor and that cable tends to unplug from the main board.

man stay optimistic!!! Everything happens for a reason..... I purchased this generator a few days ago, I'm curios if you ever got it fixed. I ordered it cause there is a cummins repair shop 30 min away just in case something happens, But i do plan on running ethanol free gas in it only.....

    • @kdlhotshotrv

Never fixed it. Cummins shop told me $500 to look at it and no guarantee of repair. Bought a champion and super happy with it. Thank you!!!

Could be a bad crimp on the spark-plug cap. Was a bad batch where the wire was not stripped and folded back before crimping. Only works for a while where the conductor butt end protrudes enough to touch the end of the spark-plug, but eventually retracts with hot/cold cycles. Remove the plug and insert into the cap. Test for spark by holding the metal shell to ground and pull the rip cord. If no spark, then you can verify if there is ignition voltage in the in the wire itself by using an electricians battery operated proximity circuit tracer test pen. If held about an inch away from the ignition wire, the light should blink as you pull the rip- cord. If there is ignition voltage present but no spark then that leaves only the plug or cap. To discount the plug, make sure it is in good condition and check with an ohm meter. The center post should have about a 5 thousand ohm series resistance and any leakage to ground should be in the millions of ohms. A seat of the pants temporary fix may be to roll a 1/4 inch aluminum ball of tinfoil and tamp back into the cap to compress back into the wire butt end to bridge the gap to the spark-plug terminal. That may get you going in a pinch. The permanent fix is to remove the metal plug heat shield and properly dress the crimp connection.

Interesting, but the inverter power started flicking on and off while the motor was running strong. Then total shut down of power, and then the motor wouldn’t run.

Check behind the exhaust screen/mesh, mine had some fiber partially blocking it from the factory.

I’m almost positive your issue is the automatic choke. Look up Westinghouse I gen4500 automatic choke fix on RUclips ( they are the same generator just relabeled ) it sounds like yours is stuck in full choke. Hope you see this and it fixes your issue 🤙

Will do. Thinking the inverter portion of the generator is seized up, but hopefully it's what you're saying.

I already watched your next video and knew you replaced it, but wanted to see what happened with this one. I worked on commercial restaurant equipment for 20+ years. A small plastic tarp, bungee cords and a few pieces of PVC pipe can make a shady spot (or dry one if it's raining) and it's a total game changer. If it's 100 degrees in the parking lot, it's 115 - 120 degrees up on the roof and it saps your energy and thinking abilities in a big hurry. Many commercial or residential style appliances like that generator just aren't made to be worked on. It's not that you can't, but it's just easier to get mad at it and throw it off a cliff somewhere! You might be able to fix it at home when you have the time and a cool shady spot to work.

Hoping you get it figured out man, seems impossible when so many little things pile up. You may have some bad gas or water in the gas. Did you check the fuse for the fridge? I'd be looking at running bigger wire back to your inverter in the future too. Best wishes!

Looks like the inverter on the generator has gone back. yes, on the fuse, thinking I have a fix for it.

  • @jjames3793
    @jjames3793 9 месяцев назад

ah sucks you didnt get it figured out or read the error codes from the blinking lights. useally too much oil or to low. they have a problem with these were if the oil is filled much past the low mark on the dip stick the oil sensor will not let it stay running. also of to low it will cause the oil senser to not let it start.
