- Finally finished this song that I've been working on for a few months! I first heard this song as a young kid and I give it credit for my fascination with space all throughout my childhood and, by extension, youth. This song was originally written by Dr. Jordin Kare and originally released in 1983 in the album "Minus Ten and Counting". The version, I listened to as a kid, and thus expanded upon was an extended re-recording of the original, was released in the collection "To Touch The Stars: A Musical Celebration of Space Exploration", published in 2004; Sung by Kristoph Klover. My optimism for space hasn't yet failed me and I'm constantly excited by the advancements SpaceX is making so it felt proper for me to get this video out before the first flight test of Starship.

I finally got this song I've been working on for a few months done and just in time for SpaceX's launch tomorrow! I decided to try and actually use video for once in a video (crazy I know) and I hope y'all let me know what you think of how it turned out! This song has been a favorite of mine since my childhood when I first heard it. One of the few songs that stuck with me through the years. This song is not mine originally and was written shortly after the Shuttle program began in '83, with the details mentioned in the description. I definitely recomend you check out the original artists' versions!

Well it blew up mid air due to a failure in once of the Raptor-9 engines, But this is a learning experience as they described it! Now they know better, And luckily there are more ready!

I used to listen to this song all the time as a kid. It (along with "Everyman" from the same album) are one of the big reasons I became an aerospace engineer. Thank you for doing such a beautiful job with your rendition and here's hoping it inspires a new generation of explorers and engineers!

If the day comes when you can board a starship to mars commercially, I would pay to put you up there and sing this song in the first space concert.
A song that I would love to see you do an English cover of is "Te Souviens-tu?" I think it fits the tone of many of your songs.
Of all the versions of this song out I find this one to be the most powerful, maybe because it's the most updated, maybe because it's got more Spirit than most, regardless it's a brilliant rendition. Keep it up, I hope to see more like this.

god this would go so well with vids on the recent IFT2 launch recently, it was amazing seeing that massive starship take off with the booster section having every single engine lit and blasting it into space, with the stage separation being a spectacle of it's own to have seen!

On June 6th, 2024, Starship 29 successfully splashed-down from a suborbital test flight, along with her booster, which also splashed down safely on the other side of the globe.
29 got pretty mauled by re-entry plasma entering the hinges of her control fins, but even when doing her best Anakin Skywalker cosplay, she made it home safe.
Probably should've packed more sunscreen, though...

As much as love the original, this is a worthy update! I loved the updated lyrics (especially the one about the often forgotten Columbia disaster). It really makes this it’s own instead of being just a cover.

Not going to lie over the past few months. I've been getting ideas for a space adventure story that is being inspired by filk songs and hfy, and a sceen that's clear in my mind is when the the protagonist leave space this song is playing thoroughly all media alongside with the footage of the liftoff as a message that it's time to innovate to the stars

This is a great rendition, great job man!
A little bit edited with newer lyrics, love the originality of it though. I was expecting towards the end with a lower pitch and higher pitch voices, maybe an electric, different guitar playing different pitches, just to make the ending perfect, and although that is what I was expecting and would have enjoyed seeing it, you kept it original, like if the man just had his guitar and was just singing as he flew to mars.
