Finally getting this posted 6 days late, this was *supposed* to be ready for Pentecost Sunday, but issues in Video editing (including the complete crash of the computer and loss of all the progress at that point) *kinda* delayed me. I hope y'all aren't too man for the delay. This song was a song recommended by a community member a few months back that I'd gotten hooked on, so I knew I had to start working on it so I could get the song out of my head. This song has been a lot of fun to record and make (editing issues asides), and features almost entirely original artwork, with the exception of three images. The video style is a bit of a downgrade from Fire in The Sky, but I hope that still images are still alright. For those of you who've been considering Patreon, or are otherwise interested, This song released just over a month ago as an early audio release for Patreons only. There will be *another* early Patreon release for this month as well, so feel free to support me on Patreon! www.patreon.com/AlderonTyran Thank you for watching and I hope you've enjoyed!
So I gotta say, especially cos I was a Cav Scout in the Army, it is spelled Cavalry. I like your stuff but this like the second or third time youve done this lol😅 Love the song though, keep up the good work
@@harpermorin1538 The line I think you're referencing actually _isn't_ talking about horsemen or mounted soldiers, but rather a location outside of Jerusalem. Hope that explains any confusion! 😊
@@alderontyranYeah, I realized that when I heard the Peter Bellamy version yesterday and forgot I made this comment. Didnt help that for whatever reason, I thought the site was called Calgary lol. So, yeah my bad and Im sorry😅
I can't get enough of this rendition... something about it just feels so much more intimate and poignant than the Leslie Fish version I'd always heard. They're almost like two different songs completely.
@@juwebles4352 He is referring to Leslie Fish, who is known to go out of her way to take out references to Christianity in anything she sings. I think it's safe to assume where she lies religiously, even more so if you have listened to her other music.
@@D-nTh3M-n 1. Leslie took out references to the Anglican church from cold iron not references to Christianity (the end line refers to iron out of cavalry which is an anglican term, especially considering the catholic church believes the nails were made of silver) 2. I was referring to them saying this was sung "with the lord in mind" as opposed to the other one.
Love the rendition. Thanks for sharing. Always love your songs. I think the edit changes the meaning, though: the Baron saying Iron from Calvary shall be master over all shows his redemption, whereas I feel this version doesn't give him this redemption.
You got to give the barons his due. He rebelled against god, and when god offered to forgive him and return him his sword. He refused and held to his belief despite knowing he was defeated and had little hope left. He still held onto that bit of hope. Another interpretation of this which is a stretch and by no means correct is that Iron represents power which, in the baron's view, can only be gained through struggle as iron gains hardness from cold forging. The baron likely thinks he has the power to earn the right to rule from heaven, yet god disagrees as he(Jesus) suffered for all; hence he holds the right to rule.
Yet his King spake kindly (ah, how kind a Lord!) ‘What if I release thee, and give thee back thy sword?’ ‘Iron wrought by men, has no power in this hall, Only Iron out of Calvary is master of you all!’
I don't see it as him having hope. He acknowleged the fact that he is not as powerful as the king, thus to accept mercy means to abandon his beliefs. And yet, knowing that, the king still shows mercy - because the power belongs to those who can rule by love.
At the moment I'd like to make sure my content has as much reach and availability as possible, I also don't want to worry about any potential obligations that come with trying to deal with records or other places like Spotify. I've considered it, but it's a bit more involved than I'm comfortable atm. Besides, The Patreons give me enough support to keep the subscriptions to the tools I need to keep things running so It's not been an issue yet.
Could you do a cover of Skye Boat Song, but with the lyrics of Robert Louis Stevenson? There is only two covers in youtube that use his version. Outlander based their version of the song in his lyrics, but changed it from being about Prince Charlie to being about a woman example changed lad for lass. Skye Boat song has 3 versions, the original, Robert Louis Stevenson version and the Outlander version.
Hey man, I'm the ducktheanimator7889. I'm back buddy, and your vocie just kept getting better bro! I'm thinking about starting a channel like you, hope some day we can do a collabaration! Praise the God! May He bless you !
he butchers the poem to remove irony, ironically. In the original, the King confirms that cold iron is the master of men all, it's not until the last line that the Baron, who previously used iron in the context of weaponry and as a metaphor for violence and bloodshed, admits that the blood shed *by Christ* via the nails of the Cross is truly the determinant of mens' fate. Iron is the master of men all, but not how he thought.
Everyone here just loving an anchent song about the power of love and sacrifice over war. Meanwhile deus vult spammers whove never held a bible seething in the comments and trying to "own the heathens" lol
The wat you changed the song completely changed its meaning and purpose i must say its kind of disappointing you completely threw out the original meaning of the song by changing the words
This version is more beautiful and it is true. Metallurgy was discovered by descendants of Cain ( Genesis- chapter 4). Since then they discovered musical string instruments , tools weapons. This made them and this lineage fall into the fallacy of "Ad Baculum" ( as I am stronger, I am right, I am true). Só Jesus was pierced with iron to show man how foolish it was to think a sword, machine gun, a rifle , access to satellite weapons will make you understand your mistake in logic and how Jesus Christ our Lord is patient towards you all. Those who were pierced with nails have to tell you. Don't go to war, you don't need much to survive, for Lord Jesus Christ is the master of those who truly believe in him. "Tout comprendre c'est tout pardonné ". How I wish people studied more the Bible, Aristotelic Logic and mathematics.
You see lots men and women in disputes like Olympic and don't care if they will be placed in a continuum. This is vanity and there are good books telling you how contests are such a silly thing. I stayed quiet and refused to basketball at school. I dedicated my life to one thing that would not happen to me as my mother said. But she would not think of suffering and I thought it was accident and never told her, because she already had died when I came to know. I feel the need to write about logic, epistemology, satellite weapons, and Abraham Maslow and his book " towards a Psychology of Being". If God wishes to do this , he will give me the means.

Beautiful rendition of this ballad.
You really perfected this poem by how you changed it. It really enhances the message of the poem. I get chills each time you say "iron - cold iron".
Putting this song on repeat with the volume turned down, cause more people need to hear it. Beautiful and haunting 💙

Many of my covers (like this) are based on the chord patterns that you'd find on Ultimate-Guitar-tabs, maybe with a capo or two for ease of play.
Do you need any sort of license to release cover songs on RUclips in this manner?
