Great tip on that magnet trip man..... We have that trick in the construction trade also ....sometimes darn screws jus keep falling off.. Cheers
Kevin, Ive been wanting to do a servo swap of some kind for a while. Now, thanks to this video, youve made it much easier. Im looking forward very much to your next video to see if there is an improvement over the 2085 servo. I cant find any specs. on the 2085X, just that its 23% stronger.
23% of shit is still shit! Have you found an answer yet? Im about to have my servo fail and am in need of a proper replacement

i just changed my 2085 to 2085x servo because my 2085 died after having my xmaxx for 2 years, i had to use a washer because the spring pushed the screw head through the plastic, found a longer screw but it was to long had to dremel off a few centimeters, as for the nut on the end option, my rc parts box from my first hobby grade RC (2002), HPI rs4 electric had a nut that worked. man that was a pain, now my xmaxx is back in action just in time for the company cookout at a park.

I put the 2085x servo in mine and I really like it my truck turn in tall grass so much better but i would not use the linkage that came with it . I broke 2 of them i ended up ordering a aluminum one from CrazyRacer on Amazon. I am still waiting on it to get here guess its coming from china. I put the stock one back in and it held up last time i ran the truck. I just thought i would give you the heads up. I really like these videos of you working on your XMaxx i do almost everything you show us so thanks.

I screw up mine I replace my servo but wen I insert the screw in the plastic just give up the screw went true I see your video but it was I little to late for lol I'm ordering the new parts now thanks Kevin for show in us all the important stuff bro thanks.

I put the 2085X in my Xmaxx a few months ago and it went unexpectedly. No crash, water etc... bummer!
Around 7:20 I knew you saved my brain from hours of torture. You deserve a medal. thank you. My steering was all crappy since my servo upgrade and i couldn't figure out why. Nylon nut upgrade, 16mm bolt, here i come.
Is this due to general wear and tear

Hey Kev, I replaced mine from 2085 to 2085X and i got a problem now the steering/servo is stuck on the right hand side and its my 2nd 2085x that i replaced its getting expensive😔 what do you think is the issue? Thanks in advance

For a traxxas servo how was that i heard some say it burnt out fast spme liked it. Savox makes good servos. Besides these questions whats the best one for it thats out there. Hope ypu answer all my questions thanks kev.

Buy a better servo. You can get a metal gear servo better than the traxxas 2080 for like 30 bucks

Is ether a part number for the longer screw and nut - or a screw type etc?
Whats the speed on these? Traxxas never show that, but all we know that its 450oz, should look into the savox 1230 which is 500oz, and .16sec which is faster than the 2085x i believe and cheaper than the traxxas

Can u do a review on the hobby wing max 8 v3
Had our 8s for a month now, took it out and had our servo burn out, while it was sitting still, weird since a few of the other trucks in country have had the same issue.. Weird
Caused by wheels not being straight when you turn the vehicle on when it is on a surface like carpet. Wheels try to straighten but there is to much resistance.
That is exactly what happened to me too. I made it stay still for 3 min, and plastic gear of servo was smashed. I'm wondering if it goes into "micro" oscillations "left-right" if you leave it still, enough to strip one tooth of the gear, and from there on, it's a spiral of teeth knocking off one after the other...
@@jeanfoutre3620 this just happened to me sitting dtill in the grass for a couple of mins, will open it later and see what broke , did you fix yours by replacing what part?

Loctite softens plastic, but you can use super glue/CA, I've been told , and I have with good results.
I do that as well. Works great but does not make the screws impossible to remove.

Im told a bit of nail polish on plastic works as lock tight.
Honestly 3M heavy duty outdoor 2 sided tape is better then hot glueing and gunning up your rig...... Try it and let me know what you think....

it can ruin the plastic
Loctite breaks down many plastics, it will ruin that part

What is the big advantage of this vs the stock one is it just less likely to wear out or doesn't the stock one have enough power and torque
Hey bud, my servos knackered already, only had xmaxx for bout 2 weeks. Do I have to take the whole front off just to check if the screw had come loose or just take the small light grey bit off to check?
How long did it actually take you to do this repair? Thanks
ALUMINUM CRUSHER not sure, I didn’t time myself. There are a lot of washers you have to be careful of when taking it apart and reassembling it. For me about 90 minutes because I didn’t know what I was doing. Lol.
Is the bolt you use kev is m4x16mm or m6x16mm???
yeah im trying to work that out as well? He does say m6 nylon I think.....I picked up an m6 nylon and 16mm screw too fit it but looks alot thicker than the original?
It's a m3x16mm and a m3 nut.

it doesn't do well I had to upgrade to a metal servo horn from hot racing

A lot of work just for the servo
That was my only let down after spending 1,000 dollars on an rc car. The steering servo on the x-maxx can barely steer on flat ground under it's own weight. It's disappointing really.

Ryan Gratland by the looks of it they go straight in. The driver he uses is 1/4 inch drive. So it could be 1/4 inch. That’s my guess
What voltage are you running your ESC at to your Servo
This is all I want to know and I can't find the voltage range anywhere.
I would assume its designed to be run at the stock ESC's 6v

The Traxxas aftermarket servos are just a load of overpriced rubbish. Put in a standard servo.
They could have made the servo swap easier. I’m going to hate the day I have to change it out.
