Awesome review Mike. If I didn’t get custom fit for my 2021 T100S last year I would go for the 243’s. Perfect looking. Nice blend of feel and forgiveness.
Michael, can you please do a video comparing Mizuno Pro 243 and Titleist T150? Tough to pick between the two. Would be a nice follow-up to your 2021 video comparing the 223's and T100S's too. Thanks!
Have played the 223s for 2 years now and absolutely love them. Think they look better tjat the new 243s, and chose them over the P770s which didnt provided as much forgiveness on slight misshits.
Bought a used set of 223 irons a month ago and agree that they look great and have enough forgiveness. I prefer the loft gaps in the 223 over the 243 in the higher lofted clubs.
Not sold on the forgiveness of hollow irons like P770 or 225 vs cavity irons. I think 243, T150 and Blueprint S will be the top players distance irons for 2024. Edel SMS Pro is a beast but it doesn't offer much for distance.
Top notch review, thank you for the detailed data. Just saved me 100 dollars i would've paid to see a club fitter. I'm getting the 245 in 3 iron with $-taper shaft to replace my MP64 3 iron in C-taper shaft
So the 245 are basically my mp-20 HMBs. Love my mp20s. They still look great but I think there needs to be more upgrade in tech and design before I upgrade.
Great review! Just played with the 241’s and i have to say these are probably the best Mizunos yet! I havent played for several months and first iron was 155 dead on the stick. Misssed a couple but still finished Even for The day. Im 70 and very good iron player. With the 241’s, knock downs and baby cuts were easy. Why would you want to hit a PW 150 yard!? 😊
I love these clubs after one round in a hitting bay. Hit the green almost every shot with a 7 iron and flag at 150 and ball stopped almost instantly. But should i be buying them if I shoot in the mid 80's and I swing a 7 iron in the mid 80's mph?
Thanks, Michael. I've been waiting for this release and review. I guess what I was hoping to hear was if they are a definite improvement over the previous line. Hard to say I'm sure but wondering what you think. Thanks again!
Hello - thank you for the review. Would love to see if you still have the MP-25 heads and your opinion on the head comparison. They look practically identical to the 243. I bought the MP-25 in March 2016 and been trying to replace them. Hopefully in 8 years, they have improved the technology, lol. I bought the MP-223 last year but returned it b/c I didn't like the feel. I am about to do a fitting for the new MP-24x (likely 243) and the pro/fitter was commenting that it looks practically the same as my MP-25s.
Same boat here, I saw these and thought the same as my mp25. I hit the Titleist t200 and loved them, now down the rabbit hole trying to stick with Mizuno.
Great review! One thing I appreciate about your reviews is you give the view of club behind the ball and how it looks standing over it. Also appreciate the detailed comments on sound and feel. These look like an awesome line from Mizuno!
Guessing for me being a 17 HCP the Hot Metals are better suited. Tried the T150 yesterday and as above think I need to try the T200. Albeit when I got my swing on point was getting a nice draw on the flight. Finding looking for the right club like choosing a car!
Michael, Your consistent ball striking, and small variance in club head speed reveals something greater here. An important aspect that often gets overlooked when we talk about golf clubs: the relationship between loft numbers and what's going on inside the club. While it might seem like these irons only differ by 2 degrees in loft, there's a whole lot more going on under the hood. Think about it like this: if Mizuno made the loft of the 245 the same as the 241 blade, it might be too tough to play with because of how high it launches and how much it spins. But by tweaking the materials, technology, and construction, they've managed to dial in the loft just right for a balance of power and control. They almost match spin, and launch windows exactly. Back in the day, loft numbers were a big deal because they told you how strong the club was. But nowadays, with all the multi-material tech, it's not that simple. These irons are a perfect example of that-they're not just about having strong lofts; they're about Mizuno's smart engineering to make them perform at their best. So while it's true the 245's have strong lofts, it's important to see the bigger picture. They're a testament to how far golf club design has come-a mix of innovation and performance that goes beyond just the numbers. jp
Asking for your opinion, I currently play mizuno MP20, HMB , I am 62 yrs , 7 iron swing speed 84.5 current shafts KBS Tour c-taper, 110, stiff, would I notice a difference? I am getting older and slower 😢, Thanks , Tom K
Thanks for the review Michael. Nice set of clubs but also more expensive than the previous iteration at about £1400 for 6 irons they should be good! Specs for the 245 much the same as my JPX919s, so food for thought. With regards to the metrics nothing too surprising with spin rate, distance, etc, except the landing angle at 48.9 degrees was exactly the same for all three clubs despite them having different peak heights - is that odd or what?
Not really, the different amount of spin on each will hold them in the air longer/shorted so even though they all get to the same peak height, they get there different ways and times and then fall in different ways to.
Your 7i swing speed is at 94. Peak height at 113. Landing angle at 50. All of these contribute to stopping power on the greens. What about the average golfer with an 80-85mph swing speed on their 7? Will these still be a good option?
I was fitted into 245s this week… avrg 85mph ss 7 iron getting peak height 90-100 and land angle of 44-46 (plenty of stopping power unless you play on rock hard glassy greens). Spin is lower due to 30° loft (around 5k.. off a mat though rather than grass) but certainly not silly low. 👍
Hard to give up 7mph of ball speed. Note the descent angle on all 3. I often wish the testers would actually try and work the ball both left and right in these tests. I mean they all use 'workability' as part of the description but nobody ever actually tests this. Presumably not everybody is always wanting to hit it straight?
Thanks for the review Michael...I am glad I waited for these irons to come out...Will be getting fitted for a set....Do you think I should spend the extra money to get these irons SST Pure or would this not make any difference in the irons...
I'm a huge mizuno iron fan and have played Mp30s since I started, (3-pw) and i would absolutely love the 243s but looking at the ridiculous prices they charge now, and the 3&4 irons being an extra expense as well I will continue to play the Mp30s until I can no longer play as I don't think that £1800+ for 3-pw is VFM WHAT SO EVER (4.5 times what I paid for my Mp30s) just like £500+ for a driver isn't VFM. Manufacturers are too greedy.
99% of the viewers would benefit from playing the 245s. Yes the lofts are very strong so I’d put in a 46 degree wedge to bridge the gap. Luke Donald just put a set in his bag…..
Probably gonna end up with all 3. 245 in 6-7, 243 in 8-9, and 241 in PW. But I'm generally a good ball striker especially in short irons. Could totally play all 245s.
Just got fit for them. I spun the ball to much so less loft helped And I’m gonna bend my 50 to fill gap. But they feel even better than the 225s did. Paired then with 95 gram shafts. Piss missiles is all I have to say.
I have the 225 and recently tested them vs 245. The difference was the extra weight tungsten below. The 245 hits a higher ball by 10%. Thin shots are slightly better. I already hid the 225’s real high so…no changes for me..Same basic club…
Question is are they worth $1,600 to replace my 225s which are still in great shape. Opinions? I do hit mine very well and have no issue getting enough height in the 4-7 iron. Play off a .5-2 handicap but prefer the confidence the “player distance” irons provide.
Those 243’s are “EXACT” copies of my 2010 Tour Edge Exotics CNC Milled Forged. The best looking, feeling and sounding clubs I have ever owned. I doubt the 243 are any better.
Purchased 243 5-GW & blend 225 2-4 absolutely amazing irons! Mizunos are the best
Got fitted today for these irons. I bought the 243. Really loved it, and this was backed up by stats. Nice review.
Just had a fitting and out of the 100's of combinations, landed on the 245's. Can't wait
Awesome review Mike. If I didn’t get custom fit for my 2021 T100S last year I would go for the 243’s. Perfect looking. Nice blend of feel and forgiveness.

Could you compare 24x with 22x previous?
Have played the 223s for 2 years now and absolutely love them. Think they look better tjat the new 243s, and chose them over the P770s which didnt provided as much forgiveness on slight misshits.
I agree I dont like the looks either prefer the looks 2022s on all the pro range. Use split set 225/223 won’t be upgrading this year.
Bought a used set of 223 irons a month ago and agree that they look great and have enough forgiveness. I prefer the loft gaps in the 223 over the 243 in the higher lofted clubs.

Get exactly the same about p770s over 223’s. Love my 223s although I feel like I could game the 5’s from 7-4iron for extra distance and forgiveness.
I absolutely loved the 225’s but they didn’t fit my budget. I do like my 770’s but nothing will beat the feeling of the Mizuno’s
Top notch review, thank you for the detailed data. Just saved me 100 dollars i would've paid to see a club fitter. I'm getting the 245 in 3 iron with $-taper shaft to replace my MP64 3 iron in C-taper shaft

@@stelkurtain_tm it doesn’t. i saved 100 dollars

Thanks Mike great review as always Will be trying the 245, as a Lefty this is great news
No lefty
Always enjoy the channel and the reviews! I love my Ping 430’s,but these are tempting 😊

Very interested in the 243! How do they feel compared to the Titleist T150?
Better
I would die to see a comparison btw jpx923forged vs mp243 please.
Thoughts on the 245 vs Titleist T200? Would be a cool video comparing the 245 vs T200 vs P790 since they’re all similar players distance irons
I love these clubs after one round in a hitting bay. Hit the green almost every shot with a 7 iron and flag at 150 and ball stopped almost instantly. But should i be buying them if I shoot in the mid 80's and I swing a 7 iron in the mid 80's mph?

The copper overlay separates the 225-245 from the rest of the hollow bodies. Excellent feel…Excellent performance…
@@bert1450 According to Mizuno, 225-245’s both have copper underlays…You can feel it, very soft for hollow body club..
I think he was comparing the 225 & 254 to other hollow-bodied irons to the likes of the P770.
Would love to see a comparison to the TM P790’s
He has done that video but with the 225 but should still be very relevant.
Great review! One thing I appreciate about your reviews is you give the view of club behind the ball and how it looks standing over it. Also appreciate the detailed comments on sound and feel. These look like an awesome line from Mizuno!
Beautiful looking clubs. Great review
Just invested in the 245s, though all beautiful looking clubs. Great overview too 👍
Thanks 👍
Any ideas what’s coming out in September Mike? Thinking of the 243’s atm. They look amazing
@michaelnewtongolf when will you be testing the new Wison Staff irons, Mike?
