Time for another episode of That Cost's How Muuuchhhh?? We've been seeing a lot of trendy decor all over TikTok, Pinterest and RUclips recently.
The West Elm Solstice Line has this beautiful table that ranges from $600 to $800 online, depending on the size of it. They also have a taller entry way table that is $700, so I decided I wanted to make a hybrid of all of these to fit at the end of my bed! I am also remaking this Ferm Living Pond Mirror that retails for $469, which personally is a bit too much to spend on a mirror of this size!

This is one of my favorite “that costs how much?!?” Seriously! These projects came out so so good! Becky, you have an amazing way of making me feel like I could probably make these too! 💪🏼🤩
The technique you used for the curves was so interesting! Worked really well
Right it was such a smart idea
It's called Kerf bending! Such a cool process.
It looks so cool, I kind of wanted the whole thing to just be about that! So pretty!
I have been a Sorry Fan for years now, and I rarely comment, but I just have to say that your craftsmanship as well as the quality of your videos increases every single year. You constantly outdo yourselves and it's amazing to see how far you guys have come, especially with the things that you are able to now create which are all of store bought quality. Bravo ladies ✨✨
Ok hear me out- this bench reminds me of one of the sinks in the Sims 4, and now I'm thinking of how good a series where you DIY Sims furniture items would be
This would be hysterical and actually so fun to watch
Bumping
omg this needs more likes!!
That would be amazing
Yes!!!
I honestly preferred the wood vibes of the bench pre-wallpaper (maybe painting it to make it all consistent?) but you nailed the dupe aspect of the recreation. The mirror is stunning!
I really liked the wallpaper 😍
I would’ve preferred actual fabric, I don’t think it would be much more expensive than the wallpaper suggested by her, the bench is not that big
I think a thick chalky texture might have elevated it more, not a fan of the shiny finish it had in the end.
@@gabrielleoana1092 same, maybe even thrifting a linen tablecloth etc would keep the price down
This series is just so perfect for Becky, she has that expensive/high-end touch. Best episode yet!
For the record- the wood bending, "cutting not-quite-all-the-way through", technique is called Kerf Cutting.
Super cute- both projects! 😊
You forgot to mention that when you are making your cuts to get the wood to bend, you have to cut WITH the grain or else it won't work.
It’s a good day when it’s a sorrygirls day 🤩
I am SO impressed by that bench, well done Becky and co!!
I love that you were so honest about the pricing and included pricing the other objects and tools used.
Liking the video the second it’s posted before even watching it because TSG is it’s own quality control >>
I never would have known how to make the curved ends. I'm impressed. And I LOVE your brown sweater.
You guys have totally been killing it with the quality. Putting out absolute BANGERS. I want more 😭
I've been wanting to DIY an arch mirror from a huge rectangular one I've had for months! Thanks for the tips!
That cost how much is definitely my favorite ! Those two pieces are unique and worth DIYing, I’ll make the same mirror but I’ll make it rusty/old looking like Kelsey’s DIY
loveee that idea
The glass cutter is made to hold the oil inside the handle. Both projects came out great! Impressive curves 😉
Also PSA, be careful with long hair and power tools. I saw a nasty incident with a drill and long hair, not fun.
I also wanted to comment on the hair. It's strange to me that they all wear safety glasses but they don't tie thier hair up. 😞
Aesthetics over safety.
So many people have mentioned the safety for so long, it appears to be the only long-standing critique, and they just don't seem to care!
@@waterbitten and floppy sweaters and long sleeves
@@UntetheredBanshee right?! Those dangling sweater arms made me nervous!!
I’m going to try and help my gen z coworker make the tile table bc she just got a new apartment, I’m excited to try your techniques!
Woooooow I am sooooo impressed by the tip on how to curve the wood... Super clever tip.
Sara Nena DIY
Oh wow, I didn’t know that’s how you get wood to bend so smoothly. Very well done!
Maybe add the hours as well, including time of sourcing materials. Time is money. I feel like a lot of people don't realize how much it cost to make something. If you look at it from the side of the maker handmade things are usually incredibly cheap too cheap. They should earn more money. But the average person doesn't realize how little the person who made it earns.
Seconding this.
I believe that the pistol grip glass cutter has a place for you to put the oil inside it. The bottom gold "button" should open and you can add oil inside the tool. Then when you apply pressure the oil can seep out through the scoring portion helping lubricate the tool to score the glass better. My grandfather used to make stained glass windows for various churches my the area. I helped him out a lot with his work and he had an older version of this tool, could be different but it looks the same.
that’s right - i use the same kind for stained glass, and the oil goes in the handle. makes the cuts a lot easier, so you’re not fighting the curves as much.
Becky, you’re so great at this! And your commitment to reusing and creating things as sustainably as possible really means a lot to me. These items were so chic and I feel totally empowered to break out the glass cutter again 💕
Omg!!!!!! I’ve been looking at both of these pieces and have not been able to pull a trigger for the price. I am soooooo making these. Thank you !
That tip for the curve of the bench was awesome - thanks for the education! I always wondered how to do that!
Becky’s diys have been on another level lately! Great job 👏🌟
Very brave Becky cutting that mirror. It really makes a difference using the right equipment and know how. When my hubby tried all we got was the seven years bad luck.
I love love love this series!!! The mirror looks amazing 😍
I really appreciate you factoring in the price of the “scrap” wood for the mirror - I haven’t done a ton of DIY yet, and I hate when things are advertised as one price but then depend on me already having materials!
The bench is next level skills. Impressed doesn't even come close to describing how I feel. I like how each step/task was broken down into manageable peices because I certainly felt overwhelmed. The mirror...speechless. ❤
Love seeing you work out how to do these things for yourself.
What we actually need is a video tutorial on how Becky makes these designer-inspired master-level projects looks so completely effortless! ❤️
This is easily the best episode of this series! Incredible, Becky!
I'd love it if you included time spent making the project too - it would be interesting to know since part of the cost of the product bought from a store is labour costs!
this is such a good point!
This is by far one of my favorites DIY that Becky made. The top on my list is the book table.
The snug and perfect fit of the flat rectangular wood pieces after the curved pieces was so satisfying! Such a great project!
Another great video! I like how the items become more and more interesting! I loved the mirror!
Both projects looks so good. Your diys really improved i love it.
These items are so amazing and high end!!! You're really growing so much!!!
I am so thankful for this series, since it shows a lot of trendy decor I am not aware of.
I love that bench!!! I am going to look for something similar for my bedroom. 😊
Awesome projects Becky!!
Both projects nailed. Well done, Becky!
Great job Becky!! Love the Bench!
Great job, Becky! You definitely outdid yourself this time as both turned out amazing and nearly identical to the inspiration pieces. 👏
Great job, good reason to pick up wallpaper at the thrift whenever you see it!
Really enjoyed both of your diys, Becky
Becky I loved these projects! I thought they would be a huge challenge but you made it look easy as always 😉
