I speak English, Spanish, and now I am learning German. I was born in USA so English was my first language. My father is Peruvian so my family only spoke to me in Spanish, that I how I learned. My mother is German and I moved in with her, here in Germany, so I can attend university here and now I must learn German. After I perfect my German I would love to learn Korean bc I love the culture :)

My native language is English and I've been teaching myself/studying Spanish everyday since May (studied some Spanish in high school 8 yrs ago) always wanted to be fluent in Spanish:) I should be fluent before the year is over with:) and I'm slowly learning Arabic, such a beautiful language and my friend speaks it and she's helping me with the basics so far. I want to also learn Portuguese, Italian, German, French and whatever else I fall in love with. I honestly enjoy learning a language! It's great for communicating with others and I love to travel abroad:) Loved your video! Keep learning more languages, it's so unique and different from everyone else.

Leuke video!

Hi I’m Adam and my parents are Tunisian . I was born and raised in Australia so I speak English and also my parents speak to me in Arabic and I am learning French at high school because my parents speak French because Tunisia is a francophonie country, I’m recently starting to learn Italian , my mother is also fluent in Italian, practically all her neighbours in Tunisia were Sicilian. I also started to learn Japanese but i put it on hold to concentrate on French more as I’m going into ATAR next year. After my Italian becomes relatively good and I am fully fluent in French i will start Spanish and focus a lot of Japanese as well. Also soon going to start learning Tuareg a language spoken by the berbers in North Africa. After I learn Spanish fluently I want to start Portuguese (Brazilian). Also i studied some Korean, Russian. Hebrew, Greek (I always have a faze where I am interested in a language and want to learn it but end up losing interest)

My native language is German, I was really happy when you said you speak German. I've been learning English since first grade, so for eleven years now and I watch so much English RUclips that sometimes I can't even express myself in German anymore xD
In sixth grade we all had to start French, and pretty much everyone hated it, but I really liked it, but stopped after tenth grade, because I would have had to many lessons. I already forgot so much and it really upsets me. I need to start practicing so I don't forget the rest!
Also, in eighth grade I picked up Spanish, it's my favorite language so far! There are just too many languages I would like to learn, but the ones I want to learn most are Portuguese and Irish.

I learned English by myself when I was 15-16, at highschool I learned Spanish and now I'm in University learning French. The reason why I enjoy learning languages is that, much like yourself, I love to communicate. I realized that if I somehow used the language I was learning, either meeting new people or reading, or making effort to speak it, I could make progress very quickly. Even if one day I start learning a language that has no apparent nor logical reason for me to learn it, I wouldn't quit it because it's something that makes me happy. Keep making great videos about language learning :)

That’s awesome. I grew up speaking English and Spanish fluently. I can speak and understand French, Italian and Portuguese enough to get by in those countries, and very little Romanian. I am learning German and can understand quite a lot because it’s so close to English. I am also learning Polish. I can read text in Cyrillic and understand very little of what it says but hopefully that’ll change once I become more fluent in Polish since both are Slavic languages and very similar, which in turn are also very similar to Czech, Slovak, Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian.

This is pretty cool! In my country, the Philippines, we learn our national language and English in school. However, these are besides my regional dialect, which is Hiligaynon. Currently, I have been learning French and I think I'll be picking up Spanish again, as it is familiar in the Filipino language :))). Thanks for sharing your story! Makes me feel inspired that I can do this and more

Awesome! I speak Persian as a native but my family and I moved out of the country when I was 2 to Dubai and I started kindergarten in a British school and moved to an American school from grade 1-12. But UAE is an Arabic country (despite almost everyone virtually speaking English cause of the sheer number of internationals) so I had to learn Arabic as well which I was actually the top of the class for (somehow). Anyway, I then moved to Milan for my university because of how close Italian culture is to my own (for starters we both wash our butts! :D) Anyway, now I can speak almost 4 languages. Which is really amazing and something I'm really glad and proud about. I really REALLY want to learn French, German, Japanese and maybe Turkish and Spanish. I also want to obtain a very posh accent (my English accent is a mix of mostly American and British) but I would really like to speak in a British accent naturally, I can imitate it but it feels awkward to speak like that all the time. Any tips? P.S. I love watching polyglot vids, they're so inspiring!

Damn... I call myself a language lover, but in fact the only foreign language I can speak fluently is English. I'm currently learning Spanish and Romanian and I think I've reached level A2 in both, I also used to know German on a decent level, but now I'm not even sure I can hold a conversation in it. I also know the basics of Dutch. I used to be proud of it, but now I see it's not enough, I need to work more on my language skills! You're definitely so hardworking, you're a great example of how much I can achieve if I start working harder. Best of luck to you, you're amazing!

It's so fascinating how you are able to use all these languages at a conversational level! I wish I could do the same for all the languages that I am proficient in, as well as the ones I am studying and will be studying.
For the record, Filipino (particularly the Tagalog language) and English are, by right of the Philppine constitution, my native tongues. I also know Japanese and Spanish, though I am not yet able to use them at a proficient extent.
I'd like to learn Arabic, because I live in an Arab country, and other Filipino languages (such as Cebuano and Ilocano) so that I get to strengthen my ability to communicate with my countrymen better, and I'd recommend that you try the same for the Filipino languages, too!

Hello, thank you very much for this informative presentation. I am already capable of speaking English and German on Native proficiency. I am in university and the language the course are acquired are in English. Now i am considering to learn French and Spanish. As i am quite young (20) i think learning languages will open new possibilities. Anyone who could give me precise details and advice on how to learn a new language in the most effective way. As for instance movies with subtitles, duolingo... no matter what. I would appreciate consultations and encouragements.

It is great to see female polyglots coming out on RUclips! Thank you!
I am not a polyglot as I speak only English, Spanish, French and some Russian. I say some because I married into a Russian family but they have an anglicized version of Russian so there are many words they use that raise the eyebrows of proper Russians, I understand a lot of German because I was raised in a Plattdeustch home. Spanish is so logical and the grammar rules are the most regular so I really became fluent fast. It is so useful in the USA. French was a language so beautiful I couldn't avoid it. It is a joy to speak and to listen to. I am anxious to pick a new language. I might go for mandarin. Before cleaning up my German!
    Please keep posting.

So Arabic will be your first non Indo-European language =) It is the hardest language I had to deal with in the past (silly grammar and hard script) but I really enjoy to speak it with my Iraqi and Syrian friends ! And now I am trying to learn Korean (because of the culture, I have a friend who is Korean and it just seems interesting.)
