    I have tried so many products to "lighten" my hyper-pigmentation which worked, but my skin would get worse every time I stopped using the products. Because of you I stopped wearing makeup, and started a super simple skin care regime with three products. The biggest thing that helped my skin is truly sunscreen. People have even told me that is looks like I have on foundation because of how clear and even my skin looks. It took about 4-6 months for me to achieve this. I'm glad I watched this video today, because my sunscreen is only mineral based only. So hopefully soon I can purchase a sunscreen with oxide's in it as well so it can benefit my skin more. Thank you Dr. Dray! I love your channel so much!

  • @p3tr02oo6
    @p3tr02oo6 4 года назад +4

    It is not yet clear. We need more data and more stats. Please inform ur self and read alot more data about hyperpigmentation casue by blue light. Most of the tests done on real skin was below and above 400 nm, simulating UV light and visible light, respectively. It’s important to note that the intensity of light in this study was meant to replicate the sun, not devices.
    Imagine this, sunscreen works around 2 hours and even the best suncreens blocks around of 97 - 98% of UV spectrum IF you apply the standard 1g of sunscreen on your face. The UVA sadly passes also the normal glasses/window. So, if u are really freak about hyperpigmentation or to prevent wrinkles/aging, use 1 g of sunscreen once at every 2 h till the night comes or be a vampire. I prefer to live my life and not be crazy about standing directly in the sun.

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  4 года назад +5

      the studies also are limited in scope to short term effects...like i said, we don't know much about cumulative exposures over time to indoor lighting, so to each his own when it comes to deciding how far you want to go. People spend a lot of money in an effort to rectify melasma, with little success. Sunscreen is proven effective for this condition, and now that we know how blue light impacts this disease, it is important not to down play how a simple, available intervention may have an additional mechanism behind its efficacy

    • @p3tr02oo6

      @@DrDrayzday of course sunscreen its a must for daily life. But there is a line between using it to prevent and to treat all kinds of hyperpigmentation and aging caused by UV light and being a maniac dependent sunscreen type. Imagine a tube of 50 ml how much will last to that degree. 20 days ? Otherwise whats the point to use it if ur not doing 'corectly'. Btw, Skinmedica has 2 products called Lumivive that helps againts UV blue light. UV blue light has potential and might cause hyperpigmentation like peptides working ptretty good againts wrinkels. We need more data and trials.

More blue light is found in morning sun than evening and is good for sleep cycle. I know some sunscreens with very high zinc percentage can irritate people. Have you tried any with 10% zinc or less? (Less zinc doesn't mean it gives less protection, and Dr Dray had videos about this topic)
      Also make sure it's not any other ingredient in the sunscreen that breaks you out. Elta MD has some all physical sunscreens that won't irritate my skin even when it was at its worst.
      Another thing is to put a good moisturizer and let it sink in before putting the sunscreen on.

    Hi Dr Dray, I found this extremely helpful. I’m Asian, quite fair, but always suffered with pie and pih. Though I only have occasional breakouts but the bumps stay small and red without opening. They take a long time for the white pus to appear and take another long time for the pus to finally come off by itself even if I apply bha diligently. I never pick on them as I don’t want pitted scar, but it still left flat red marks after they healed. To make things worse, the formation of new red marks are faster than fading of the existing ones. So u can imagine my cheeks and chin filled with tiny red dots or small red patches. I don’t like to wear sunscreen when I’m home so I always rolled down my blind to prevent sunlight coming through window, but Im in front of computer screens, long hours and everyday. And I recently realised that whenever I cover the marks with a blemish cream that contain zinc oxide, the marks/patches weren’t as red as before. U mentioned the opaque dressing in your video… is that like a sun patch that Koreans like to wear when they golf? Or simply any opaque dressing? And do I still need to wear zinc oxide physical sunscreen under the dressing? Thank you!
