I worked for Manheim for 10 years, never saw a car drained of fuel ever. Most come in on reserve and if anything we used to stick a gallon in to make sure it could drive though a sale.
I used to buy and sell from the auction. I bought a Hyuandai Lantra for £110. Drove lovely. Put it in for the mot and it only failed on a little crack in the back light. Bit of white shining through. Lens tape. 2 quid. Sold it for 700. I have had some lemons though but never lost any money. Like you I was honest as anything. Made sure they were all safe etc before I sold them on
Regarding the mini, it's more likely to attract joyriders rather than serious buyers, or they're using yours as an example to see if they like the mini before travelling further away for another one. Obviously that's far less likely to happen with something like an i10, 500, Ka etc 👍
Kia Rio is a bulletproof car I would recommend in a heart beat unfortunately people don’t like the way they look they look and that’s where it struggles. For an A to B perfect!
BAC ripped me off on an auction about 13 years ago. Would never use them again as they knew they had ripped me off and I was very lucky to win some substantial compensation /refund
I'd be very wary buying a car at BCA, mainly cos I've palmed some right dodgy Dogs/Lemons off at We Buy Any Car over the years, and I'm sure everybody else does as well. For those who don't know, BCA and WBAC are part of the same company........
Yep I sold a Toyota Celica before it was a nightmare. The phone didn’t stop with people waisting my time offering me half the asking price while others just wanted to take it for a joyride. I had a Freelander after that which had a completely different set of buyers. First to view was a lovely family & offered me the asking price straight up.
Nice result on the Rio & i10 great cars. Don't understand landlords never have, think they'd be happy and satisfied with all the businesses there being successful. Not only individually but helping one another out.
Have had a 14 [new style] i10 1.0L for 7 years now. Never had a problem with it and never got board with it.Don't want to change it! Very vague clutch biting point. The normal problem engaging reverse! Great on the motorway! [on the flat anyway] Totally dependable!
BCA will only do a visual check on cheap cars, they will mark them as grade 4 (looks ok) or grade 5 (dodgem car). Means you can often get some really nice, low mileage cheap cars marked as grade 4.
My first thought on the mini is the sort of clientele that buy them? I wonder if you’d get the same on something a bit more niche or less fashionable like a Clio RS
My experience of motor traders as tenants has always been trouble. Full of yack yack yack.No real capital . Hands and arms covered with tattoos.Always full of hard luck stories.
surprised you still got the little white corsa, thought that'd be gone quick I bet if that mini was like a 1.4 mini one it would of sold by now instead of it been a cooper s
For £1495 you can’t go wrong with that Kia, a very tidy car. I wish you well with finding new premises, I’d no idea that it would be so hard to find a place to sell cars! Your attention to detail does you credit!
I cannot understand why when some owner's stop taking their car to the dealer after a few years, but no longer fill in the service book, even if they're doing servicing themselves, or taking to a local garage or national chain. A comprehensive service book will always add value and give potential buyers more confidence.
I bought a car once from main dealer who'd serviced from year old. She'd obviously kept book pack at home. All needed stamping up. Should have kept it. 🥴
A work colleague has an identical Rio 2 (61 plate) he's had it from a year old and never had a single thing wrong with it passed every mot without fail👍
The Mini conundrum is because you just have the one. People looking for a cheap, clean, hard to find in a crowded carpark, reliable car come to you, and that's what you offer. If they are not taken on the one they have come to see there's a good chance they'll leave with another make that's the same sort. The Mini attracts tyre kickers & buyers with wider expectations who are willing to bugger off somewhere else to look for another Mini that does meet their specific needs. Just want a car to be a car = high turnover at lower profits. Want a special car = Lower turnover at higher profits. There's very little difference in profit over the year. It just depends what you get the most satisfaction in doing.
Can't believe that is grade 4. Am about to try and get rid of my Rio 2009 with brand new MOT but bodywork is shocking cosmetically - all faded paint and patches. Probly grade 11 going by that showing.
Agree with the time wasters… never ever had a good gut feeling as soon as I hear. You can just tell sometimes. New to the channel but I have a similar idea, on the side tho. Flipping small cars as I can do mechanical work, just takes slightly longer with my work schedule. 👍🏼👌
The car grading is done via algorithms for age milage and any damage entered into the system during inspection. At Bellevue we often get older clean cars coming through as 4 or 5's just because of the age. There's a w reg saxo in mint condition with genuine 4650 miles clean as a whistle at grade 5 just because of the age but has a high reserve price 😱 But as I'm sure you've noticed prices are inflated around 30%
What size is the Mini? If you getting are young lads looking, it will be because low powered Mini’s can look great but feel slow. They then go for a Fiesta ST. The newer 1.5 3 cylinder engines are quick but obviously still sitting on Main Dealer plots.
A Mini costs a little more to run than a small generic hatchback and requires a little more attention to keep it running properly, it is a small BMW after all. I think people are initially attracted to them as they look so good and are way more 'cool' than the typical generic small hatchback. Then someone tells them an apocryphal tale about reliability/running cost and they get cold feet. Insurance for younger drivers may be more expensive as well. A lot of buyers of small cars want cheap transport which will get minimal maintenance it will be run until bubbles come out of the exhaust and the doors fall off, a Mini is not for that kind of driver.

@@ChopsGarage well I did look into it futher and it's correct. It's a Rio Chill without the spooler. I never knew. The facelift had the same interior as the pre facelift Rio 3. I'm a bit Rio Mark 2 geek. Worked on them for years. Good clean cars for their money. I still own one.
I think the Mini attracts a different buyer to the Rio and i10's. Gut feel is that the buyer for the Rio and i10 is slightly older, knows what they want and doesn't really haggle as such. Whereas the mini buyer attracts a totally different age-group (want it now, don't want to pay for it, wishful-thinkers frankly). That's my take on things anyway. I think there's more profit in the kia's (and commensurately less hassle too, helping turn over of cars/time management) than in corsa's/minis.
This is untrue in the 21st century People look before they leave the house They turn up because they have seen a car they are interested in The mini's in particular have a reputation for aging like cheese
Grade 4 due to nature of the car and due to age. They can't put grade 5 as its worst condition, grade 3 because then people will bid too much and may go expensive. Sometimes grade 4 is in everyone's budget when it comes to auctions lol

Hi James brilliant to see you have brought two more cars and hope they sell quickly and hope you make a good profit on them
Cheers
Another great video mate, that Rio is an absolute belter
It really is!
That Rio is so honest, so good 👍👌
Great little car
They scored it a 4 because the dipstick had somehow attained sentience and resolved a determination to overthrow mankind by throwing itself to the ground each time it’s interacted with.
Mark my words. This is the beginning of the end.
Lol!!
Another great video. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a car from you thanks.
Thank you Paul
I had one just like that great cars couldn't fault it
Yes Sporty stuff often brings some awkward customers 🤦♂️
Though so
The old Kia's are great in terms of reliable motoring, it's a shame they lack charisma
Never had issue with them
Always look forward to your uploads mate 👍👍👍
Thanks buddy!
Kia Rio 2 with a Kia Rio Chill or base model interior. Hmmmm Interesting.
Well the toys seem a 2. But I bow to you Rio Expertise lol
This is untrue in the 21st century
People look before they leave the house
They turn up because they have seen a car they are interested in
The mini's in particular have a reputation for aging like cheese
Also if you had a sporty Corsa especially older ones they will sell like hot cakes
Fair play to you mate your turning them around pretty swiftly
Cheers, have to due to limited space
I’m sure it’s a 2009 as 2009/59 2010/60 ? how hard is it to get dealer plates and how much do you pay for them ?
59 is late 2009 / early 2010 👍
More specifically before March 2010
Its a September 2009. Not hard at all, yes you pay
Im selling a spares or repairs astra on Ebay and I've had over 200 questions but no one wants to view. Never again.
The cheaper the car the worst it is
@@ChopsGarage "what's the lowest"
Another brilliant video again as always and have you found another unit yet then
No mate
I'm new to your channel
Could you move into the valeters premises
They are flat out and full unfortunately
Grade 4 due to nature of the car and due to age. They can't put grade 5 as its worst condition, grade 3 because then people will bid too much and may go expensive. Sometimes grade 4 is in everyone's budget when it comes to auctions lol
Good point
There's actually a grade worse than 5 at bca. U, unclassified as it's as good as a wrecker...
