Drove my first Mercedes diesel over 504 miles with one (14 gallons) fill up. Never owned a diesel before, and after the first fill up the needle didn't moved till I hit maybe a 100 miles. I was thinking, great I brought this car and the darn gas gauge doesn't even working. I was totally surprised how far I could drive. (It was about 30 years ago, for the 14 gallons I may paid $20.00 and took me 500 plus miles to drive. One day if you want to sell your blue car give me a buzz. Absolutely liked how may made a " new car" out of it. The patient you have, to take the cars apart switch engine's back and forth and do it again for the transmission are wonderful 👍 nice job 😉

This dude is sooo slept on, its my 3rd or 4th video im watching from him. The video production, the knowledge, the explanation, the details etc…well executed and much better content than so many other well known auto content creators. Subbed for sure and i rarely do that.
That was a lot of fun! I am such a fan of that engine gearbox combination! I have driven that model but have owned three CLS versions super reliable no problems whatsoever as you quite rightly say maintenance with OEM parts is the key with quality oil!
So nice to find someone who's interested in real world stuff, such as gas mileage and is, like me, a fan of Diesels. A long term gas mileage monitor would be far more interesting than a one off journey. I got 47.2mpg from my normally aspirated Peugeot 405 XUD wagon over 105,000miles in the 11years I owned it
Regarding the oil cooler seals, it seems that they have been, at some point, replaced because the new ones are purple, while the originals are orange. I had a leak in my S 320 CDI (@ 375.00km/235.000 Mile), due to these seals and it cost a lot of money just in handwork. Great decision! Great engine, it's hard as a 🪨. If you have any query about this engine, do not hesitate to ask me! Greetings from Spain!
Came here to say this - original oil seals are orange, replacement upgraded material are purple or another colour... I think the ones I had were blue or grey???
I really enjoyed your video I have a 2012 S350 with basically the same engine. I love those engines and i have put many miles on mine. These cars are unbelievably strong if you maintain them. Many problems that these cars have are not because they are bad cars. The problem frequently is that these cars end up in the hands of bad owners.
Thank you for showing the videos from when you're touring. Most of the people in the world haven't ever been to America, so we don't know what it looks like.
The quality of your videos, production, video, audio, etc. is as good or better than any car channels i've watched. Content is excellent as well. Well done Waldo and thanks.
I had one of these cars. A absolute TANK. Brilliant car. Super reliable. When I sold it there was 502k on the clock. Only reason it was sold , a lady crashed into it. 👍👍👍
another sickness of these engins are the injectors, they leak after a common mileage, u need to replace the copper seals when you pull out the injector. When they leak you'll hear a puffing sound and you'll smell the diesel also in the inside and outside the car.. Other than that, these are the last best build mercedes. I had two of these and I've never regret the purchase. These engins are undestructable... Well, the hole on the blue one, that's a sign of bad maintenance. I guess the previous owner didn't top up the engine with the right oil. Great video my man. keep them coming.
Waldo you played this really smart and with minimal cost, but you willing to do the labor, you now have a high quality, safe, road worthy vehicle that can last you for years to come!!!💯👍👍👍😎
Great video as usual! I especially love, that You convert measure units to SI. Btw. E-klass MB cars of the '80-s and '90-s made it up to well over 1 million kilometers before any major overhaul. By far the best cars I ever drove. Good luck!
The new wheels look much better. I love these projects though. Everyone is scared of these cars, and avoids them like the plague. That's what I love about Waldo, he ain't scared.
Definitely do a MPG challenge with it, with your videos I have started looking into a CDI Mercedes myself. My second vote goes to putting on some type of a tune to make crazy torque.
I use 3M Rubbing Compound on my Benz headlights. Moisten the surface, rub it on with paper towel, rub it around a bit, wash it off and clean up the residue. No tools needed. But they get cloudy after a couple years. I'll use add clearcoat at the end now.
The purple silicone seals for the oil cooler are the good ones btw, the ones with leaking issues were the ones used in the earlier made engines with black rubber.
Just watched this and the previous episode back to back, more interesting than most stuff out there, so Thankyou for the great content and I just want to commend you on your mechanical skills, very impressive.

@@WaldosWorld looks like you didn't prime/purge the oil circuit. Dude I watched the whole video didn’t skip any part, that’s rare for me keep up the good work hopefully more people discover your channel
Thank you so much!
Eurodiesels get absurd fuel mileage.
Even the really old unit injector VW engines (1.9 TDI).
I wish you’d upload more. Glad you’re saving the blue car!
You make such incredible videos - the hard work you put in looks effortless because you’re such a great personality man. You keep igniting a passion for car restoration in me and my wife knows it. Bless you a bunch man!
Really enjoy your format and sparing us on the boring sections! 😉 I have a 2006 E320 CDI that's been my favorite car so far. So easy to work on, sips the diesel, and is very comfy. Enjoy your great car and thanks for sharing!
I got 47.2mpg from my normally aspirated Peugeot 405 XUD wagon over 105,000miles in the 11years I owned it
You have mad skills in mechanics, camera work in the videos and of course hosting. You’re gonna be a star on RUclips Without a doubt!
Whats there to be star about moron
Did you swap the differential and drive shafts as well. They probably never changed the differential oil either...
Waldo you grew to be one of my all time favorite channels. I really like the diversity in your projects and the ways you present them.
honestly.. i enjoy seeing old machines brought back to life..
u r a great human being Waldo..
I spotted that too. I think I would have cried a little at that point! 😂
Another masterclass from Waldo. Can't get enough of your videos. Keep up the good work.
First time watcher of our channel! Excellent video!
Love your channel. I'm a complete beginner and I'm learning so much about cars because of your channel!
Glad to hear it!
I have no knowledge in cars , but the only thing that gets me to watch this video because its about a Mercedes
Only bad part of your videos is having to wait for you to make another! Keep them coming!!! They are great!
I am seriously impressed by your skills since its obvious that you are not a Mercedes guy, yet you managed very well. bravo.
Man I’d love to see these being 1hr long or longer. I could watch your videos all day!
👍👍👍
And that k was 502 thousand miles !!!
I recommend a headlight clear coat spray for the headlights after you clean them. Makes it last longer
another sickness of these engins are the injectors, they leak after a common mileage, u need to replace the copper seals when you pull out the injector.
Great job! It really looks sharp with the higher trim wheels and that headlight fixed. Definitely a great car to keep in your fleet
Waldo you played this really smart and with minimal cost, but you willing to do the labor, you now have a high quality, safe, road worthy vehicle that can last you for years to come!!!💯👍👍👍😎
You make it look so easy. A very interesting video and I love your informative and generous style.Great video.
Great video as usual! I especially love, that You convert measure units to SI.
Btw. E-klass MB cars of the '80-s and '90-s made it up to well over 1 million kilometers before any major overhaul. By far the best cars I ever drove. Good luck!
This is a great result, and I love that blue color! You have some serious skills!
I can’t express how well done, thoughtful, and enjoyable this is. Keep it up!
Waldo makes everything look easy. From the sofa watching his doings is even easier 😀 I know from my modest own experience that all of that is NOTHING BUT easy.
Excellent video presentation !!!!
You are a very talented mechanic/person and tell a good story without a lot of filler crap that most YTubers add.
What do you think the new and improved Mercedes is now worth after all of your worthwhile changes?
Thanks !
Edit: I also REALLY like the fact you don’t beg for likes and subs !! Thank You !
After watching about every single Legit Street Cars and Vice Grip Garage video there is, the algorithm finally brought me here and im so glad I found your channel. Great content even though I've only seen few videos. Subscribed for more. Thanks for the quality stuff you've put out. 👍
It's always a nice day when Waldo posts a video!
Thanks for putting the KM conversions in there for the rest of the world!
I love to see a happy ending. And I'm glad you kept the blue Benz. I really love that color. And with the new wheels you put on it, makes it look way nicer. 👌 I bought the same 3M headlight kit for my car but haven't gotten around to using it yet. Your headlights turned out really nice. Glad I picked the 3M kit. Thanks for the effort you put into your video, Waldo. Great video as always. 🏆🏅🥇🎖
Thank you Waldo and Aspen for another great adventure. I think you made the right call with the blue car ... it really does look good in that color, especially with those new wheels & the fall background at the end! Keep up the good work =)
The oil cooler seals have already been done, they were the updated purple version.
Ah, I was wondering about that. Thanks for the info!
@@WaldosWorld looks like you didn't prime/purge the oil circuit. The best practice is to replace the oil cooler, and then crank the engine several times without the injectors installed (no crank load). There is a high likelihood of the new engine spinning the rear rod and main bearings, but you might have been lucky that the engine didn't start on the first time.
Waldo, you are my go to utuber(if only that was a real word.) Your subject matter is great as is your presentation. Keep up the great stories and work.
Car turned out great! Another advantage to the blue one was the clear title - higher resale should you decide to send it off to a new owner! 💪👍🏼
The cost of quality painting on body replacement parts would have been in the 1000s
When he said “let’s hit the road” I the music brought back memories growing up watching this old house
Let’s get this man a proper shop to work in
Desperately needed 😂
@@WaldosWorld, when I was a young man in my late teens, early 20s, I built my pulling trucks in a cheap portable car port. Plywood floor, salamander heater, carbon monoxide poisoning and beer, oh the joy of turning wrenches in upstate NY winters, 😂 I definitely feel your pain Waldo
Years of wrenching at -40 in Alberta winters in an old garage with a kerosene heater means I feel your pain.
As a high school Automotive teacher myself, I really like seeing that you are always wearing safety glasses!! Awesome informative content!
What a great video, very different from what I'm used to see on RUclips. The analysis of the broken engine did it for me. Keep it up. On to the 1,000,000 subscribers :-) You have a new subscriber 😀
It looks super GREAT - and it runs forever - Here in Europe, these Mercedes drive forever - and people are really happy with them. You have made a good purchase, but most of all, you have done a fantastic job of putting the blue version in a great condition👌👍
Question: instead of changing the transmission control modules would that work if you just reprogram it?
Great channel, every task is solved using common sense, intelligent and methodical approach, very satisfying to watch!
What up with the gooseneck build Waldo?
It's been collecting rust. I have a couple more videos planned for this fall/winter 😬
@@WaldosWorld Ahh, that's just pre-patina. Pretina if you will.
Some mad skils bro well done my man 💪
At $50 a day you better get that gooseneck done😂
I own an e320 bluetec 08 at 207k miles just replaced fuel filter, fuel hose, fuel pump & fuel rail. A turbocharger a remanufactured mercedes part @ 195k miles. Intercooler hoses & turbo air intake duct w/ mass airflow sensors at 205k miles + engine & trans mounts (purchased at 111k & engine mounts replaced around 125k Id recommend looking into upgraded mounts vs the period correct ones as they tend to fail) Its been quite costly thus far but I absolutely love the drive, fuel economy of the car, and the comfortability as a tall driver is great. Great video and looking forward to more like this 👍
This was an amazing video, really love seeing that you save so many cool vehicles 😊
I have a 2009 E320 with 114,200 miles on it. Fantastic car! Try this on faded headlights; Mothers aluminum polish on a foam pad on a power drill. Wipe off with a micro fiber towel. A minute or two for each light. Quick and easy and just as good if not better than the kit you used.
Really enjoyed this video.
Damn Waldo, you are fearless. I was a bit disappointed in the lack of an "I Did This!" sticker on the fuel pump...
Ah, I should have brought some with me on the trip! 😂
Your work is crystal clear, yet worth more than gold. Great presentation
@3:44 lmao NJ has more pointless laws and rules than any other state I’ve ever lived in or been to.
Your video productions are amazing.
Hey Waldo, you know what would be awesome? A toyota powered luxury car. Best of both worlds
Lexus?
LS 400, end. of. story.
Hilux powered!!
Nice job and outcome! I myself got a w201 2.5 turbodiesel from 1992 for my daily drive.
Owner of a w210 E-320 Wagon here.
Gas 3.2 V-6 is a GREAT engine.
But, I'd love to try a V6 TD Benz but they made them so freakishly rare almost nobody has seen one / can buy one.
Whenever I see a post on Benzworld from an E-class Diesel, its from a Non-USA country.
I think we need to TOSS the stupid EPA out of our country FOREVER, their a BS agency that wields Unconstitutional power over consumers & manufacturers Automotive Liberty to provide, purchase & enjoy practical & fun cars like these !
I love following you Waldo. Your approach and attitude are very very receptive.
I don’t know whether you’re making a living out of this program, but you have lots of followers like me who adore your job. Thanks a lot for the video.
Well of course they were banned in the 5 worst states
Those seals have been changed before, the factory ones that leak are orange, the purple is the upgrade! Love that engine! Cool video
Everything is doable, everything is "easier then I expected", spirit always high and positive. My man, YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION
WoW u have done a great job, today I am going to do almost the same to my 2008 MB E320 BlueTec and I am wondering if u still have the old engine and want to sale it?
These Mercedes Benz are amazing and I don't swap them with any other cars.
The best thing is these engines don't need to Add Blue like the 2009 models.
Really u make me very happy by this video.
I am living at Texas and also I have the C4 & C6 if u need to program the controllers , modulars or SAM, or anything for Mercedes-Benz 🧑🏻🔧
