you can never go wrong with a supercharged v8. you sir have a gem of a car. i hope you keep her and fix her up
The transmission fluid can crawl up the wiring harness on these cars. It is a well known problem and the kits to change the fluid usually come with a new plug adaptor thing and a replacement rubber seal for it
Don’t get Carly. You agree to auto billing one time at checkout and then a year later out of the blue you get charged $155 that is “nonrefundable.” No reminder email that your subscription is renewing, and no receipt after the fact. Just a PayPal email saying you paid Carly $155. Customer service refuses to refund it.
That aux battery is there for safety, making sure the fancy brake system does not fail. The brake system is powered electric, not by vacuum, and infamous for shutting down at some point, deciding it has reached it's EOL. In the past, MB helped owners out with that issue.
That transmission fluid has to be checked at a specific temperature you have to watch the scan tool and check it when it is there🤙. Most transmissions default to second gear as a limp in mode
I can;t believe you got so lucky with this. Older S or E-classes with all the extras they have tend to be a nightmare to get all running. And looking at the first images you showed I would have thought this was severly neglected and a waste of time. But no, I guess you were due some good luck for once :)
After all the stuff with Ferraris, for example, I guess fate turns the other way.

@@1n2333 Not exactly what I'm getting at. Engine, gearbox, etc wise yup they are bulletproof. But it's all the other bits and pieces that you get in a high spec car that are notirous for not working after a while. That's what I was getting at.

Sam, I've always loved that car! She'll come alive when you put in fresh fuel, air filters, plugs, and coils. Great deal!
Also you got no rubber "O" ring on your cap cover for the transmission fill tube. Supose to be one there. Sometimes it gets stuck inside the fill tube end. Check and see. If smallest of dust gets down in your trans fluid it can really wreak havoc on your valve body.
The gearbox oil level on that box has to be checked at 40c (104f in american?) for an accurate reading. Hope that helps.
And it also needs ATF134 which I doubt he used.

I own a 2006 E55 and that is a new one for me that the SBC pump, with the door open it close the calipers? Also never new the E55 have a Aux battery. I been a Mercedes owner for over 15 years from a CLK500 to a GLE400 and the E55. I replaced the conductor plate on my old CLK500 and I'm about to do it on the E55 the good news is no programing on that transmission. Like the 7 speed the conductor plate need to be programed. When doing a conductor plate make sure you get the connector adapter plug w/o-ring, new trans pan bolts and trans filter.
An old AMG with 150k miles AND it's modded? What could possibly go wrong?!
5:10 i'd clean the pistons before pulling off the boots. Sometimes the caked dirt is too hard to pull them off

Tip for anyone buying a car: If someone says they need to get rid of it asap, it's probably got many issues. Personal experience.
Your front right disc is a left one. With internal vents this direction, the air will have difficulties to go out when it turns... Not good
Any nice car thats way under priced because of cheap brakes is a huge red flag loosing 10k because you dond want to spend 1k is beyond stupid
Ive owned a Mercedes super charged C class, an Audi TT turbo, and a BMW 3 series NA, the BMW was my least expensive & needed the least maintenance & was easiest to work on. Just sayin’ for anyone getting into German luxury cars, go NA if you’re on a budget.

Low transmission fluid? Check axle seals. That’s how I lost 5th gear in my car was a big leak from one of them.
I had a 2002 w210 e320 and the wires they used for some Mercedes Benz cars would wick the fluid all the way to the transmission ecu under the hood .
My mechanic pulled my ecu right in front of me and dumped a whole bunch of fluid out.
I have an 05 E55, these cost at least 1 dollar per mile to maintain properly so very seriously, dont own one if you are poor. One thing develops an issue, its going to be at least 1K. Checking the oil is done inside the car with the computer.
The rear main seal oil weeping/leaking is a common problem for this drivetrain. So that's probably the cause of the oily-ness in that area. I got weeping from my rear main seal on my W210 E55 but it doesn't drip onto the garage floor.

I knew that your power steering was low as that groaned just like my old 2005 VW Passat did when its power steering rack decided to fail. I would inspect the rack very closely if I were you. Good score btw.

I had same issue with 2005 E Class, turned out the GB (gearbox) oil is cooled twice, from GB it goes in the oil cooler for the GB and then into the radiator which can leaks coolant after a while, the GB oil and coolant mixes together and causes this issue, the coolant part for the GB is hidden on the radiator and therefore no way of telling if it's leaking, so check if there is a leak which I'm pretty sure it is, if you look at the oil cooler for the GB and see if there are pipes going to the radiator.
It would’ve been awesome if you could’ve showed us the air suspensions rising when you hooked up the new battery and started up the first time.
Torque converter needs trans fluid to 4 quarts isn't enough

Cheapest E55 AMG from 2003 in Spain is around 13.000€ (around 13758$) and with 265k km. Seller says price almost NOT negotiable. You don't even know who stupidly cheap is USA for buying cars.

How can you tell if the ECU needs repaired? I can't access none of my modules from using a AUTEL tablet scanner. Parking indicator and mode indicator is missing from dashboard! Seats doesn't work either
