I honestly feel the same about modern Nintendo titles as a whole. A few of them have that old magic still intact but most of them just feel kind of plastic and mass-produced, or at least moreso than they used to be. NES to Gamecube was the golden era, tho I think every handheld (excluding the Switch if you even count it) was amazing. Another niche content creator I like made a generally negative Nintendo video years ago and he got slammed by tons of criticism and mocking comments too lmao, happens. Your content makes people like me feel more heard tbh
People have been asking for a playable zelda game for years, and not just women in the fandom either. The popular playable zelda mods were made primarily by men. Heaven forbid the devs make that actually come true once, for one game, when, as you even bring up yourself, can play as Link in literally every other game. "Eww the game is too cutesy and girly!" are you a 12 year old boy? Secure adults don't need everything to be gritty, mature and manly to not feel insecure about themselves somehow
ima get it, we don’t live in a perfect world where companies are like disney movies, life is full of people we don’t like, its just a video game and ima enjoy it regardless of what people think or believe. If i wanted to be a saint, i wouldn’t even have bought a console or bought chocolate, or food because some way or another it all comes back to corruption
@@Tenacityfromtheglass While i agree I don't want to stop companies from being innovative or creative. Would do you believe fans and gamers collectively want in newer games that wouldn't be considered repetitive, boring or doesn't divide fans I'm genuinely curious
@Londonlink Well, look at from software. They built an audience with dark souls and gave that audience more of what it wanted with Dark Souls 2, then they made Dark Souls but lovecraftian and gave us Dark Souls 3. After that they gave us Dark Souls but with Samurai and now we have Elden ring which is just an open world Dark Souls game that doesn't stray away from any of its original design. Last time I checked fans of from software don't think that they make repetitive or boring games.
@@Londonlink companies can still be innovative and creative. It's called making new IP like how they did with pikman and animal Crossing on the gamecube
I'm 10 hours in it's pretty average. I'm not the biggest fan of the art style either. I'm starting to dislike Zelda tropes such as pausing and playing a tune when you solve a baby puzzle like opening a door..
From general feedback I've heard about this game since it launched, the main obstacle for me is what sounds like the big step back in complexity of the puzzles.
I did buy the game, and so far I've made it past the first dungeon. It is definitely a good game but I haven't really gotten around to it yet. I really liked Link's Awakening remake so I'll probably end up enjoying it. And yeah I understand not liking the art style
These games are not Zelda anymore. I don't mind the open-world, it's the breaking weapons, survival mechanics, bad music, repetitive gameplay, etc. An open-world Zelda could be amazing, but TOTK is by far the worst Zelda game. It's even worse than Phantom Hourglass, and that gane sucks.
5:32 look man, i get what youre saying, but donkey kong was the worst example you could have chosen, in the original trilogy, donkey kong was only playable in the first game, yet the 2nd game is the usually called the best one
Links awakening is a great game, but this is not. I don’t know what game the shills in the comments section are playing but it’s not the same Zelda game I am.
Personally, I don't have any problem with the artstyle. It looks good, but its not my favorite, so whatever. My problem is that they are trying to bring the 3D games formula over the 2D games, when there was a CLEAR oportunity to have two very distinct gameplay structures running in tandem, keeping everyone happy and avoiding(or at least reducing) the potential fatigue of any given formula. But no, this game also needs to be open ended and minecraft-y. Not that I hate it, but the new 3D games formula aren't my favorite, especially given that dungeons and progression is still bad. Though I appreciate them making Zelda distinct and not Link but with Boobs(As I don't have a problem playing as other characters in a Zelda game, as long as Link is the protagonist in most of them). Though they didn't escape from that entirely.
People need to start asking about intent, like why do you want Zelda as the damsel in distress rather than assuming you're a misogynist - and I like you reasoning, sometimes the classic story and gameplay is fine, if not better.
«Everyone is so easily offended these days»…ironic. Don’t like the graphics and representation? Fair enough, but that part of the video is undermined by the latter part. What was even the point of this video?
I've collected and played all Zelda games dating back to the first..And the latest two 3d zelda games, I really didn't get hooked on, partly because I've become a bit more of a fan of the more linear zelda games, something that Zelda link to the past kick started. I also thought botw and zelda Totk had somewhat boring bosses compared to previous zelda games.
You got a point here. Feels like Nintendo been fixing experimental bullshit with marketing to fill the gap and sell whatever they have been working on as a great game
I can hear the fedora falling off your head 😂 The game is genuinely unique and fun. I find it ironic you’re using tunic gameplay and calling link’s awakening too cutsie lol
Idk man, I find Tunic cute, but not cutsie. Those are different things in my book. Like the difference between an all ages childrens cartoon and a cartoon for children. Like Octonauts vs Daniel Tiger. Octonaughts go on adventures in the sea and when they find seahorses doing a mating dance, they suddenly decide to leave, an obvious sex implication for the adults in the room, but innocent enough that kids wouldn't even think anything of it, meanwhile Daniel Tiger looks at the viewer through the screen and talks about how when he gets angry and wants to roar he takes a deep breath and counts to 4. It is a bit ironic though, you aren't wrong. I just can understand why tunic wouldn't be such a turn off, and the mood of the scene is probably a big part of that
@@Chronoflation the game plays and looks like a cartoon for kids of all ages. Same as tunic lol they’re stylized differently. It’s ok to dislike the style but let’s not pretend it’s any different and act like it being cute is the problem.
@@Vadnarr well yeah, but that stylized can be enough to make someone love one and be repulsed by the other. Who hasn't seen anime they thought were ugly despite very obviously having an "anime art style"? Doesn't mean you have to agree and it can come off as ironic or hypocritical if you don't see that much of a difference, but some people can and will
Yaaa I was looking forward to a zelda game where you get to play as Zelda. I was hoping for a OoT or TP artstyle and maybe her move set would be like what she has in smash bros… and then this game came out and it looked boring as hell lol. She gets to move furniture around and possess enemies to fight for her. Pretty lame looking ngl. I’m glad people like it but I’m waiting to pick this up when I see it in a clearance bin. Also, I agree with you on the current direction the series is going. BotW and TotK are crazy successful financially and they are objectively great games, probably best In the franchise. And I do not like them at all, I really miss the old style of the series. Oh well, maybe the indie/double A scene can fill the void one day. Kena Bridge of Spirits was fun.
Personally i have no problem with the art style and i like the game (i dig the summoner play-style) But i understand and share your concern about future Zelda games becoming more like BotW (which was honestly mid) and less like true Zelda games.
Better than most. Which is why botw had higher sales, reviews, pretty much everything so please leave the series. I hope you people all leave so we don’t have to hear your whiny takes.
I don't like this art style either. I wouldn't expect BOTW/TOTK open air style to go away though. While some fans of the older games don't like them, some of us that have been playing since the NES did enjoy the new style too. These games aren't just successful incredibly so compared to the series' prior history. And BOTW continuing to sell well and TOTK coming out the gate swinging despite BOTW being divisive for some older fans doesn't really give much incentive for them to swap back to the old style for now. Whether one likes the new style or not I wouldn't hold my breath hoping for the next Zelda game on Switch 2 to go back to the LTTP/OOT formula. As for the last point, I can kind of see where you're coming from. I'm not against the idea of Zelda being the protagonist, but sadly there's not really anything all that engaging about this particular incarnation of Zelda honestly. It was a decision they made after deciding to deemphasize the sword combat in favor of echoes, and it definitely feels like it's an afterthought here. So while in theory I think Zelda getting her own game could have been interesting in practice I didn't really end up caring for it all that much here. Peronally though I'd rather the next mainline Zelda just let you pick Link's gender like a Fire Emblem protagonist than have Zelda as the PC anyway.
How can you say that it's TOTK but top down while you didn't play the game . This game has a story and great dungeons it's more like a top down Twilight princess than TOTK The Hyrul field is a little bigger than a normal top down zelda game but it's not big enough to say that it's TOTK
6:29 ooooooof. Bro. No. Just why. Using the R slur in 2024. You seemed cool in the “what I miss about older games”, so I decided to dive into your backlog, but as someone who has autism…nah that word ain’t it.
I dun care who i play as... as long as it's fun or interesting and the story is good. I might pick it up later, but nothing has piqued my interest so far. Also, I'm not too happy with their patent lawsuit shenanigans atm, so I'm not going to be supporting them for a bit, even at the cost of my favorite franchise.
It is a very good Zelda game. I really like that the dungeons have puzzles that make me work my brain to solve them, and even some boss battles or simple caves offer you the challenge of trying to solve them with the tools you have. Not all games have to be about breaking through with brute force, like Elden Ring, which despite all its DLC is my GOTY. Anyway, you won't know what you're missing until you try it and give it a chance.
I literally only care about the mainstream Link games anyways. Could care less about any others, echoes of wisdom was just another game they churned out quickly to get close to the budget of the next part to botw and totk. If not I will also be ripping the ISO’s and ROMS continuously, cause the older era is still and always will be peak gaming.
I just dont want to give nintendo anymore money. Their business practices are horrible. Maybe one day they will stop stomping on the little guys and attacking their fans.

My biggest hurdle is trying to turn things into content, but in real life I'm not actually upset about the graphics or the fact that I can't play as Link in Echoes of wisdom. Honeslty yeah you cooking a bit, i wasn't a fan of a huge BOTW, it had moments and i def like it but it's not zelda to me, TOTK even more so, fantastic video games, so so zelda games, and i didn't really like the links awakening remake and i have no interest in a zelda style game On you're point about DEI ik many people will flame you but trust when i say I'm on your side, but like it's not because i don't want to play as a woman, on the complete contrary actually i love playing as female characters i think that's sick, but the way the gaming industry has been going about it is to push messages and show it to the gamers (doesn't help that the industry is full of activists who are rasist towards anything that isn't a black female, i will never forgive ign for the blaten racism towards asians when AC Shadows got dropped, ON ASIAN HERITAGE MONTH TOO) But yeah on top of that it's also you're opinion to not buy this game which i can respect, and if others enjoy this game that's fine too, keep it up mate
Didn't miss much IMO. The game was fun but kind of mid for a Zelda game. Only a few of the dungeons were that memorable for me. I don't care for the echo based combat system, and very very few of the traversal puzzles required much thinking. It was a similar issue to TOTK. Sure there's a lot I could theoretically do here but it's too open in many cases meaning many of the same easy solutions work across the board and I rarely really have to puzzle something out.

Your content makes people like me feel more heard tbh
all this video did was convince me to play Tunic, and I'm all for it
that sucks.
thank you for sharing your opinion.
You're entitled to your opinion even if it's wrong. :3
Literally nobody was asking except for like 3 people lol. You must be young

Playing Tunic while saying this is diabolical 😂
Playing tunic while saying this is an example of why you need returning customers as well as new ones.
@@Tenacityfromtheglass Like what though what would you add to modern gaming ?
Tunic is very nice, very cryptic.
They're more Zelda than any other 3D Zelda game.
@@TheRealNintendoKid Pretty sure OoT, MM, WW, and TP's mere existence proves you wrong.
I like Phantom Hourglass 😭
@@TheRealNintendoKid bro didnt even play zelda 1 😂😂😂 if you did you'd know you're wrong
all my tattoos are from Loz and it think this game looks hideous. Anyone who likes this gotta be born after 2000,
5:32 look man, i get what youre saying, but donkey kong was the worst example you could have chosen, in the original trilogy, donkey kong was only playable in the first game, yet the 2nd game is the usually called the best one
I don’t want to play as Zelda either. But I weirdly liked the game a lot. Just don’t do it again Nintendo!
Lol, she literally transforms into Link with boob's after getting the sword 🤣
People need to start asking about intent, like why do you want Zelda as the damsel in distress rather than assuming you're a misogynist - and I like you reasoning, sometimes the classic story and gameplay is fine, if not better.
«Everyone is so easily offended these days»…ironic.
Don’t like the graphics and representation? Fair enough, but that part of the video is undermined by the latter part.
What was even the point of this video?
5:01 eh, I’m not 100% thrilled on the art style, but it looks fun, and they’ve said for years they’d want Zelda to play differently than Link. 🤷♂️
Purchase whatever appeals to you the most
You got a point here. Feels like Nintendo been fixing experimental bullshit with marketing to fill the gap and sell whatever they have been working on as a great game
I can hear the fedora falling off your head 😂
The game is genuinely unique and fun.
Personally i have no problem with the art style and i like the game (i dig the summoner play-style)
But i understand and share your concern about future Zelda games becoming more like BotW (which was honestly mid) and less like true Zelda games.
Better than most. Which is why botw had higher sales, reviews, pretty much everything so please leave the series. I hope you people all leave so we don’t have to hear your whiny takes.
@@hass556 It's mid.
Im not buying it either because this is just TOTK top down. Zelda as a protagonist doesn’t make sense.
Adds variety
How can you say that it's TOTK but top down while you didn't play the game . This game has a story and great dungeons it's more like a top down Twilight princess than TOTK The Hyrul field is a little bigger than a normal top down zelda game but it's not big enough to say that it's TOTK
As someone who 100%'d the game going in fully expecting 2D ToTK, it 100% is NOT 2D ToTK. It's not even open world, at least not by intentional design.
6:29 ooooooof. Bro. No. Just why.
Using the R slur in 2024. You seemed cool in the “what I miss about older games”, so I decided to dive into your backlog, but as someone who has autism…nah that word ain’t it.
Not enough improvement? they are literally 2 seperate games.
5:45 does that mean you hate DKC 2 because it’s diddy and Dixie?
I don't like that toy art style either
People complaining about playing as Zelda is insane to me. You mean the character the series is named after? Y'all crazy 😭😭😭
I don't want to use gameplay of Echoes of Wisdom. I already feel like Nintendo's going to bust down my door 😅
Do you do anything other than complain?
Lol word, I'm here getting laughs off it but seems he's wondering why all games suck and hasn't realised it's probably due to depression
I’m not buying it either. First time I’ve ever felt like this about a Zelda game.

Nintendo is also a shit company so even if the games were innovative and great, I would not buy them.
I agree with you regarding Zelda. I expect to play as Link when playing a Zelda game. Link is the hero and no Zelda doesn't need him? Lame.
I enjoy your channel and even enjoy this video but your takes on EoW are bizarre and weird to me. Gives me "there there gramma, back to bed" vibes.
As a small channel on RUclips, I'm really just stumbling around in the dark, trying to find out what both you and I enjoy and I'm aware that it's going to produce some hot takes and even bad takes along the way. A lot of it is just exaggerated for Flair, For example, when I say things like Nintendo is evil, I'm really just trying to say that I'm a pissed off fan. My biggest hurdle is trying to turn things into content, but in real life I'm not actually upset about the graphics or the fact that I can't play as Link in Echoes of wisdom. My reason for not wanting to buy the game really just comes down to preference. I hope me being transparent doesn't subtract from your opinion of me because I would hate to delete every moment I came off as cringe on my channel just to appeal to everyone. If you want to know the honest truth, my latest video was the most fun I've ever had creating something. I wasn't trying to be relevant or click baity and it took me being vulnerable to realize where I want to take my content moving forward. On you're point about DEI ik many people will flame you but trust when i say I'm on your side, but like it's not because i don't want to play as a woman, on the complete contrary actually i love playing as female characters i think that's sick, but the way the gaming industry has been going about it is to push messages and show it to the gamers (doesn't help that the industry is full of activists who are rasist towards anything that isn't a black female, i will never forgive ign for the blaten racism towards asians when AC Shadows got dropped, ON ASIAN HERITAGE MONTH TOO)
But yeah on top of that it's also you're opinion to not buy this game which i can respect, and if others enjoy this game that's fine too, keep it up mate
This is honestly a great parody opinion piece!
Cringe
I'd be very curious to know what you think of the artstyle of my game! Could you take a peek?
It’s def not for everyone. I think fans of puzzle games and cozy games aka girls will love it the most. It makes sense since it stars princess zelda.
