There will never be another Cawood Ledford!!! He was the voice of my childhood, listening to the Cats with the tv volume turned down and the radio turned up.
Those eyes are the eyes of legend, a life warrior. His voice is distinguished and unique. A dedicated servant to a game we all love, Cawood will always be a Kentucky basketball icon.
I remember all the games I listened to as a child and then as a teenager with Cawood Ledford and Ralph Hacker behind the mics. Those two guys were and remain the best announcer duo I've heard in all of sports. Their voices are as much a part of UK basketball tradition as any other element of the game.
Always dreamed of playing at Kentucky, lots,,,the voice I heard in my dreams was cawood, me dreaming under my goal, like time was running, and cawood was the play by play, its good!
I met Cawood in Louisville in 1995 at his book signing and a blessing it was. I tried as best i could to tell him how much he meant to me and my family and of course you can never really say or explain how much it matters. His last words to me were.."Bless your Heart!" Words and a blessing I'll always treasure! A true gentleman in every way. It's an honor simply to have had the chance to listen to him call a game. His likes won't be around anytime.soon and likely never will be The Lord sure is lucky to have a great soul such as Cawood to grace His Kingdom!❤❤
Thank you for sharing this. Hearing Cawood's voice takes me back to another era.
